Re: OOC Chat

I am not being rude.

You seemed to want everyone to make their chars like you want them.

I simply asked and I got beat down by yourself with rules.

You know, I'm done.

Best of luck.

Your right.

Its a OOC area but I feel you were being simple rude to many players.

Perhaps I am wrong but I feel I am totally correct.

Later.

Re: OOC Chat

Completely OOC, with not a hint of Jurz:

Can I suggest that we don't use this OOC for build and optimisation discussions?  They always finish up in disagreements - and then they fill up the OOC with  posts that some people feel are 'discussion' and others feel are 'argument'.  TBH that is why I stay well away from the discussion forums here, and rarely go near similar fora on any other site - They always finish up grumpy.  Anyway, I come here to RP, not have long discussions on tactics or rules.

Secondly - it really doesn't matter what the other players here come up with as ideas.  Its down to the GM what goes and what doesn't.  PM Wyrm if you have a rules question or you want something that doesn't quite fit with the rules or there is some sort of discrepancy.

Hello new guys :)

Back to a bit of Jurz:

Muffy?  Iz dere somding wrong wiv the front of youse shirt?

So for us goblins - and looking at the avatar images ...

Dregz must come from the Big Nose tribe, Moffy could be from the Wide Mouth Frog tribe while Jurz might be from the Brownies

Re: OOC Chat

All right, which one of you clowns put up that 'No kobolds allowed' sign?

Just kidding, but this group has indeed lost its token kobold. Unfortunately I couldn't be online yesterday while while that was going on but perhaps the final outcome is for the best anyway.

Goodbye, Xander Xalus. I hope you find another game that works out better for you.

Now, is everyone else happy to play together?

Nurzhan looks like he is going to be the sort of character that wants to plan out party strategies but I suspect his player is already starting to realise that a lot of the other (evil humanoid) characters in this game probably won't play ball. But hopefully that will all just be part of the fun for everyone. This game is about a bunch of evil humanoids just trying to stay alive, to start with, not happy families. How it will finally end up is anybody's guess.

Re: OOC Chat

With my charisma penalty and zero ranks in Diplomacy, it should be interesting to see Nurzhan try and talk the other PCs into working with him.

By the way, If you guys want me to tone down the strategizing, please say so. Methinks I play too many RTS games (real time strategy). :D

Orc career cannon-fodder soldier  - I'd be disappointed if you didn't try to jolly us along into ... now what's that word I'm looking for ?  Doesn't translate in the goblin tongue ... ah, tactics that's it.  As Jurz says, though best to save the good stuff around strategy and planning for in-game not OOC so you can get a lot more blank looks, incredulous stares, downright refusals ... maybe even spontaneous applause, joyous approbation and enthusiastic cooperation.  You never know.  :D

Jurz:

Hang on !  I just found this ... who you callin' 'big nose' ? ;P

I always think of goblins as green, despite the MM description, though the piccy I found favoured big ears as well as the big nose.  Disturbing in someone only 3' tall !  Astonishingly and unsusually goblins' base move is still 30' !

An oddity in the rules would suggest that he can wear a normal chain shirt (light armour, weighs 25lb) and his movement rate remains at 30' (cos it's based on base speed), but if he ever gets his grubby paws on a mithril version of same, which weighs only 10lb a) he'll probably be rended limb from limb not only by his greedy fellows, but also by any elf/dwarf within 8 leagues, and b) movement rate drops to 20' per description (cos he's a Small creature), despite the fact it's lighter !

It's enough to make you paranoid.  What's that now - 3 goblins in our merry band (me, Jurz and Moffdust ?)  We should form a self help group ! :>

Re: OOC Chat

I have to say I was wary of his character.  I got the feeling that he wasn't a team player and had a very personal agenda for the game.

Xander Xalus:
If I have to work with a group, cool. I can use them and make then undead later if they die. If I die, that's all good too.

If I have to do it alone, that's good too.

I also got the impression (rightly or wrongly) from his comments, that there would have been a lot of calculated 'evil' in his play, which tends to makes me feel a bit uncomfortable.  But in terms of 'rude' it was 50-50 at best.  He was happy to dish out his ideas as robustly as he wanted -  but didn't like other people knocking them down.

Still enough of that.  What is done is done.

I always think of goblins as green as well - and I was going to blame it on first edition rules, but I have just been back and checked the MM(1e) and they were even browny/orange in there. *shrugs* C'est la Vie as they say in some elfy parts of the world.

Did you see that Moffy has a Bugbear familiar?  I wonder if she rides it into battle?

Re: OOC Chat

Well, not everyone has finished all the character creation process yet but I am going to get the game started anyway. To start with it will just be a time to sort out who knows who and whether any of you manage to get together before the action starts.

If you haven't finished your character creation yet, it's time to get a move on, at least with the mechanical details of ability scores, class abilities, skills, feats, spells, weapons and equipment.  ;o)

Re: OOC Chat

Greetings and happy New Year to you all, I am looking forward to playing something alien to me so it should be fun.
Normally I play a magic user of of one type or another but this time I am opting for something a little more brutal.
See you in the game.

Well that didn't turn out well. I rolled poorly, so those two arrows probably missed Uberthud. On the bright side, I'm about 90 feet away from him.

Pardon me for asking but are critical rolls rolled again with regular strength and other modifier except additional dice or precision damage inceases?

Re: OOC Chat

Technically, that is probably the case.

Statistically, doubling the damage works out the same in the long term - although it skews the damage done range slightly.  Rolling two dice separately will give more  'average'   outcomes than doubling the die.

However, it means that you get unfortunate results like doubling a one.  I doubled automatically, because that is what we do in my table top game and any games I run on here.  I never have been very strong on the "Roll Play" aspects of this game and tend to do as much as I can to reduce the number of dice I finish up rolling. :)

Obviously, if Wyrm wants me to roll separately, I will.

Re: OOC Chat

I think technically you roll the dice again but I'm not going to make anyone roll again. If you've saved me the trouble of looking up all the adjustments on your character sheets and rolling the dice myself I am perfectly happy with that.  ;o)
