Or maybe she just needs to kiss the frog   ....  Or doesn't that work with big brothers?

Re: OOC Chat

Yes, Bulldust and Moffdust are officially NPCs at the moment. Real life happened to their players but maybe something might change in the New Year? Here's hoping, anyway. So they probably won't actually perish just yet.  ;o)

Re: OOC Chat

I think there are variant rules that allow you to change your spell choices when you go up levels as some spells like sleep are great at lower levels but useless later on. Plus the mighty wyrm of weirdness is a pretty decent guy, if there was a small alteration to your character which would greatly enhance your enjoyment I'm sure he'd be fine with the change.

Re: OOC Chat

Minmorc is referring to the rule for Sorcerers in the 3.5 PHB that lets them swap one of their learnt 0-level spells when they reach 4th level, one of their 1st level spells when they reach 6th level, etc. Personally I have never played a single-class sorcerer to high enough levels to think about that anyway, but I would certainly allow something like that for any class that learnt a limited number of spells. It wouldn't be relevant for wizards, clerics, druids, etc.

For spells like Enlarge Person, Charm Person, Hold Person, I am happy to expand the definition of 'person' beyond 'humanoid' in this particular game to include any of the races that a character of your ECL could have been in this game. That doesn't mean you could use it on a full grown ogre (which is +2 level adjustment and comes under the subtype of giant) but I'll allow them to be used on a juvenile ogre, for example. So you can definitely use those spells on each of the characters in this group if you wish to.

Personally I was thinking spells that have the clause counters and negates other spell. Once upon a time you could choose which way to use those spells.

I have no issues with my spells at the moment was just grumbling.

Re: OOC Chat

They did give us Counterspelling which allows a caster to negate the same spell cast by another caster, which is similar ... but that only applies to spells as they're being cast, not the effects thereafter.

First season dnd casters had like 8 spells per level, Total.

no wait, i'm confused. may only have been 1 or 2 druid spells that were interchangeable abck then.

Re: OOC Chat

Just checked back on 1st Ed PHB, as that was a long time ago for failing memory ... ah, seems even then you had to pick which version of a reversible spell to memorise/pray for, so you couldn't just switch on the fly at the time of casting.

Short of the decidedly dodgy art of Counterspelling, I suppose our spontaneous casters from 3rd Ed (Sorcerer, Bard) are the only ones that could actually cast a reversible spell then - ie follow up one Enlarge Person with a Reduce Person to reverse the effect the next round.

Dregz:
Imagine if a brave goblin walked into a room of bloodthirsty humans, carrying nothing but a cursed frog ... and then kissed the creature.  Goblin disappears.  Ogre appears. Frogoblin hops away.  Humans die horribly.  You'd need a supply of captive Ogres, but ...

I'm glad somebody is thinking that way. Don't worry about all the things that could go wrong. The Gods love a great story!
