Re: OOC Chat

I'm telling you it's not a dress, it's a kilt. Right now I'm having a violent disagreement with pants, tried to put them on one leg at a time like everyone else and then the shirt ended up around my neck. Everyone's trying to launder the money and we forgot about the clothes. I entered their home and they got really shirty with me. No matter how I pant I feel I've been unfairly collared, I thought someone was pulling my leg but it's turned into a real pain in the neck.
If I think of any more bad jokes I'll make sure to share.

Re: OOC Chat

OK, character sheets are updated in terms of resetting everyone to full hit points and no spells cast yet today. If any spellcasters want to change their spell selections for the new day please edit your character sheets accordingly. If anyone wants to add any equipment to their gear you will have found most sorts of mundane gear (i.e. not magical or alchemical items or cash or jewellery or art ... etc.) lying around in the huts or barn while you were here, so go ahead and add it to your character sheet - just check with me if you fancy something expensive. ;o)

Re: OOC Chat  - Catching Wilson

The ball is in the air ... but how do you catch it?

We are talking about an inflated leather football surrounded by two iron bands that each have four 6-inch iron spikes sticking out of them. Sharp iron spikes.

I am thinking it wouldn't be too easy to catch that thing without one of those spikes making contact as you catch it. I'm thinking a DC15 Reflex save if the ball has been thrown to you for you to catch it. The spikes do 1d3 damage if you fail.

However, if it was thrown at you as a weapon the Reflex DC to catch it would be equal to the attack score of the person who threw it. If you fail you take 1d3 damage plus the thrower's strength bonus.

Does that sound about right?

Re: OOC Chat  - Catching Wilson

Yep, and if you fail by five you drop it, it can be used as a melee weapon and if others are nearby they can choose to intercept (opposed reflex with highest catching the ball), spoil (make an attack against the ball) or pike (hit it to increase the reflex save for the catcher). Bwa ha ha.

Re: OOC Chat  - Catching Wilson

You attack it with a piercing or slashing weapon (shouldn't take much damage to puncture), then pick it up by one of the spikes ...

Re: OOC Chat  - Catching Wilson

OK, here are the rules so far ...

Special rules: Wilson
*  Inflated leather football surrounded by two iron bands that each have four
sharp 6-inch iron spikes sticking out of them.
*  It can be thrown or used as a melee weapon.
*  DC15 Reflex save if the ball has been thrown to you for you to catch it.
*  The spikes do 1d3 damage if you fail.
*  If you fail by 5 you drop it.
*  However, if it was thrown at you as a weapon the Reflex DC to catch it would
be equal to the attack score of the person who threw it. If you fail you take
1d3 damage plus the thrower's strength bonus.
*  If others are nearby they can choose to:
   * intercept (opposed reflex with highest catching the ball),
   * spoil (make an attack against the ball: studded leather, size tiny = 10+3+2
AC15 to damage it, hardness 0, 2 hit points, immune to blunt damage,
or touch AC12 to hit it without damaging it), or
   * pike (hit it to increase the reflex save for the catcher by 2, touch AC12).

Featherfall on Wilson?

Magic Missile (won't miss) ?

Levitate ?

Fireball ?  (Unattended objects go boom !)

And then of course, as WoW says, run like hell ... ;>

Re: OOC Chat  - Catching Wilson

Anyone interested in testing out some D20 character build rules?

link to another game

Months ago we were talking about multi-classing in D&D,  and the conversation moved towards a D&D game without classes.  At the time I said I couldn’t see how it would work – and still stay D&D.  After all the whole ‘feel’ of D&D is levels, HD and classes.  But the idea stayed in my mind (a bit like an ear-worm) and churned around in my head anyway.  Then a few months later, I had an idea – and Classless D20 FRP was born.

Actually, it was nothing really new – I evaluated everything in terms of feats and feat chains. Then to get the balance, I added small feats and great feats to give more flexibility.

It has taken a while, but I think I have a working balance.

Your job, should you choose to accept it, is to build a few characters using the classless rules and see how they feel.

It is basic at the moment -  I have skills from Fighters, Thieves, Wizards and Clerics – although not all of the class skills have been incorporated  yet.  That is the next phase …
