Re: OOC Chat

Everyone has posted this round so I have posted an update in the main game thread. The game won't keep on at this pace, I'm sure, and I couldn't keep updating it this often either, but for today we can thank a public holiday here where I live.  ;o)

By the way, I have updated character sheets where appropriate to reflect spells and ammunition that have been used and wounds received and cured. I will try to keep up to date with that each round, too.

Minmorc:
He will prod the Wolfe goblin with the butt of his spear "go on den, wes following you."

Read back - Jurz has posted that he is moving well before you got there :)

Re: OOC Chat

I'm thinking that I can be in the middle, so I'm neither exposed to whatever we run into nor the first in line to be attacked by the pursuing orcs. I am an archer, after all.

Re: OOC Chat

My wife has cleverly resolved the vexing question of goblin skin colour.  She postulates that goblins are akin to capsicums (known as bell peppers I believe in certain foreign climes) - they start off green, but turn first yellow and then red as they mature.  So goblins with red skin are much riper and tastier to eat, while us green goblins are considerably less sweet. :>

A lot of fruits are like that. ;o)

I wonder if it applies to orcs too?

In reply to Dregz (msg # 124):

Clearly your wife is a sensible woman and has recognised that goblins change colour as they mature and the grow out of 'childish' thinking. A bit like humans change their hair colour to grey as they learn how to think.  You wife, were she a goblin, would clearly  have brown skin and be regarded as some sort of Gobbo Elder.

On the other hand you, dear Dregz,  must be her toy-gobboy.  After all, display your own colour with a clearly immature set of assumptions about flavour. :]

Re: OOC Chat

Dregz, your wife is a very wise woman.

It is obviously this interesting racial trait that would account for the ready trade in finely ground green fungi spore, so sought after by gobs of 'a certain age', in an effort to maintain a youthfully bilious complexion.

Eh hem, some of us here (scuffs the ground) could use a little themselves....    ;0)

Re: OOC Chat

Justice? If there was any justice in this particular world the loyal squad of troops sent to punish a band of murdering deserters wouldn't be the ones taking heavy casualties in an ambush.  ;o)

This game has started at a fair pace but from past experience I would say it is likely to slow down a bit over time. One round a week is likely to be the game pace most of the time. Most of us have work or other real life pressures that mean we won't be online and posting every day. Of course, if things do move quicker than that I will be happy to do my bit when I can.  :o)

I noticed an ommission in the House Rules on comparative wording for various states of damage ... can you give us the HP equivalents for:

a) dead
b) very dead
c) very, very dead
d) can't recognise the bits remaining, and
e) that pile of ash might once have been <insert Character name here>

Re: OOC Chat

Man, Entangle is a powerful 1st-level spell! If not for our goblin druid, we'd be swarmed by the enemy orcs by now. However, since they're Entangled, we only have to deal with a few at a time.

I realized how powerful this spell was in the CRPG, Temple of Elemental Evil. It's a very buggy game that becomes awesome if you install the fan-made Circle of Eight patch, which fixes most of the bugs and adds a ton of content (bringing the level cap to 20, from 10 in the original unmodded game). There was a recruitable druid NPC named Meleny (who became the party leader's wife through a quest) who came in very handy at an area swarming with evil humanoids. Evil, melee humanoids, who couldn't do anything while Entangled. Fortunately, my entire party had ranged weapons, either as a primary weapon or as a backup, and I managed to take out most of the enemy before they could break free from the spell.

Re: OOC Chat

Yep, Bully's definitely going to have to learn how to cast entangle!  Right after he's found a longspear and some javelins to throw... standing around hitting things with a shovel is going to get him seriously hurt. :-)

Re: OOC Chat

I have just looked at the main map - which puts us right on the Northern edge of the Oytwood.

Does this mean we are about to burst out onto the plains?

What time of day is it?

Re: OOC Chat

You started at the northern edge of the Oytwood and headed due south toward the heart of the forest. You have only gone about 10 minutes or so, so far. Probably not much more than one mile, so far.

It was about 10am when the confrontation with Uberthudd happened. Your forces had been in position at the edge of the forest hoping to ambush the Knights of the Watch because they only move forward during daylight hours when your forces are at a disadvantage.

Before we made this break from Coal face's army -  had we awake during the day or during the night?  Do we need to sleep soon or have we only been awake for a few hours?

Re: OOC Chat

This war has seriously messed with your sleeping habits. Most of you have been forced to stay awake during daylight hours, against your natural nocturnal inclinations, because that is when the enemy human forces are likely to attack. Of, course, your own leaders tend to plan counterattacks at night for obvious reasons, so no one has been sleeping well. You have all gotten used to snatching a few hours of sleep whenever you can, day or night. The bottom line is you can keep going until dusk before you would need to rest, or you can choose to stop any time before then if you want to.
