Re: The cabin

The clamour of Minmorcs search will continue for ten minutes or so, broken only by the slam of doors and heavy foot steps as Minmorc makes his way from one hut to the next carrying a steadily growing load of junk. Once he is done and now happily trying to manage a  bulging mass of sacks and ropes and weapons he will leave the real prize of his search outside the barn for Bully, a dusty long spear. He will then stomp over to the little hut him and Riza first chose and will make himself a nest of sorts to bunk down for a few hours sleep.

Nurzhan just watches Jurz from the doorway of the last hut. He doesn't go in. He keeps an arrow on the string of his bow but not drawn and not pointing at Jurz.

Re: The cabin

While Dregz is relieved to see none of the homicidal clothing in evidence, the completely empty hut has him puzzled.  "O'Baddy'z a nature god," he remarks, with just a touch of doubt in his voice.  "Why'd dey build him an empty temple ?"

The orc archer garners a baleful glare (if from behind where he can't see). "Youse be careful wid dat," the priest warns Nurzhan as he enters the building after Jurz, in tones that signify 'shoot me an I'll curse youse ta der Abyss n' back'.

Hurrying, Dregz catches up with the druid and his big dog.

Re: The cabin

Jurz breaks into a grin, he  had thought Minmorc's  reaction strange, and now Dregz too had a similar reaction.  Nurzan, though, was reacting differently.  "Is it empty, Nurzan?"  Jurz asks as he moves across the area.

"De gods, dey work in strange ways to do der tings dey wantz, an I tink dat dis O Baddy is doing stuff in strange ways now.  Ors maybe's his clerics did before dey ran away." the brown goblin responds to his green ally.  "Dey say dat sometimes der gods don't like der followerz of de other gods?  Do dey say dat about dis O Baddy?" Jurz continues as he stares intently at a spot on the wall.

Re: The cabin

"Dey probably ran away before O'Baddy smited dem but good !" Dregz opines.

The goblin priest tilts his head on one side as he looks around the empty room, considering the druid's question.

"I think O'Baddy pretty much gets on wid everyone who doesn' burn down der forests.  In fact I think 'e may really be a goblin fer all der yooman's claim 'im as der own.  Mebbe Eleanor, der Elf-boy's princess-god doesn' like 'im cos 'e doesn' wan' to kill all non-Elf-boys like she does."

"Mebbe we show a bit a respect to O'Baddy ... jus in case."

Re: The cabin

Riza watches the others with interest for a while... There is something clearly bothering her though. The meeting with the kobold went better than expected and she did not want to wait here with the ogres minions in likely pursuit, and she also knew they could repair the damage to the walls.... Even still there was something about the kobold that made her want to shoot him for existing..

She hefted her bow and made sure she had plenty of arrows and hid from sight once again and began her section of the watch, she would wake Minmorc once she had finished so she could sleep too.

........ah ....... After a few minutes she settles on the cause of her dislike for the kobold...... Lizards should not wear clothes.... I hate clothes...

Comfortable now she has identified the cause of her discomfort she happily continues her watch, but ensures to keep an eye peeled for any movement from the kobolds hut....

Re: The cabin

Nurzhan looks a bit confused by Jurz's question.

"Yes, it is empty. There's no one else in there but you. But you're a druid, aren't you? Do you count things like plants and animals the same as people? Is that what you mean? In that case there's your dog, too, and that little tiny tree in the silver pot on the table - does that count as well?"

"Of course de tree counts.  I tink it is a holy tree." Jurz responds to the Orc archer.  However, rather than reach for the plant, Jurz reaches out towards the wall.

The fourth hut

To those close enough to see inside the hut it looks like Jurz performs a rather neat feat of sleight of hand, making a small clay flask suddenly appear in his hand as if by magic.

Fed up of looking into empty rooms and strange lizzard priests, Grakk will head to the opening in the fence and start gathering up the broken wall looking at what can be salvaged, if not he will have to use his axe to source some new posts.
He will also look for rope for lashing the posts in place.

Re: The fourth hut

You will find all the tools and any other equipment you need in the huts to allow you to fix the 'fence', which is really a palisade of logs planted vertically in the ground and fixed to horizontal beams near top and bottom. Most of the logs are still lying nearby, so there won't need to be too much chopping down trees.

Re: The fourth hut

Jurz  inspects the tree briefly, leaves the hut and stands outside.  Turning back to face towards the O Baddy hut,  he pulls the stopper from the bottle and inspects the contents to find a green watery liquid.

Then speaking softly he says  "I wonders what dis is?  Dregz?  Is you good at knowing what stuff like dis is, or should we's ask Moffy?"

Re: The fourth hut

Nurzhan follows Jurz out of the hut a few moments later. For once he has put his bow away so he can carry five more flasks like the one Jurz is holding. He smiles pleasantly (or as pleasantly as any orc can manage) at Jurz.

"I brought the rest. Well, all the full ones anyway. There are lots of empty flasks under the table in there too but they're no use to anyone, are they? I wonder what they could be, just sitting there on a shelf in a chapel like that?"

Not wanting to be left in O'Baddy's hut on his own, Dregz hurries out after the druid, though he scratches his head at where the flask that Jurz and Nurzhan have found.  "Looks like der poison tah me," he vouchsafes, though with enough uncertainty in his voice to show he's just guessing.

Nurzhan looks like he wants to scratch his head to puzzle out the mystery of the flasks that Dregz and Jurz are discussing, but he can't because his hands are full of those same flasks. It's quite amusing really, for everyone else.

Those watching from the doorway of the fourth hut see Jurz bend down then mysteriously pluck an empty flask from out of thin air (he really does seem quite good at this legerdemain stuff) then somehow makes it stand upright on its own in mid-air about 3 feet above the floor. Now that's impressive!

Dregz isn't watching the druid ... indeed his attention is entirely fixed upon the flask that Jurz thrust into his hands, mostly with horror at having to hold such an undoubtedly dangerous distillation, but also with the growing suspicion gnawing at him that ...

"I'll bet dat dey used dis stuff in der ceremonies !" the goblin priest shudders.  "Don' get any of der stuff on youse !" he advises Nurzhan.

Wrapping up Day 1

Jurz, Dregz and Nurzhan finally leave the fourth hut and join most of the rest of the party in the barn for the night. Only Minmorc and Riza choose to sleep elsewhere, preferring the first hut that they had claimed previously.

Minmorc and Riza have a collection of household gear on hand and whatever they collected after the various battles that day to keep them entertained when they are not sleeping.

Jurz and Nurzhan have their six flasks of mysterious, greenish, crystal clear water from the fourth hut, along with the various other gear and treasures plundered from today's battlefields too. Perhaps someone else will have some idea what they may be?

OOC: If anyone wishes to do anything else in day one of this adventure you can continue to post it here in this thread. Otherwise the night will pass without further interruption. For any actions the next day please post in the new Day 2 game thread.

Re: Wrapping up Day 1

Before he sleeps Jrz will sort through the food supplies, looking for any that might be on the point of spoiling and will speak a few words of druidic  and will walk outside to contemplate the stars, listen to the wind and look at any birds that might be passing .

Eventually, he will retire to his nest and cuddle up to Rog.

Re: Wrapping up Day 1

Before he sleeps Minmorc will spend an hour or so working on the sacks, leathers and scabbards he has assembled and will stitch together a crude harness backpack poncho vest that will keep his arms free and his multitude of blades within easy reach and a sporran for his valuables. He will then head outside, place the leathers on the ground and rocking backwards and forwards on his knees he will rub the stitches vigorously. Strangely this seems to neaten the lines of stitching and strengthen the straps. He will then gather up his and Rizas water skins and a couple of random vessels that can hold water and will begin a savage and swooping dance. Tired he will take the now full containers back inside. At midnight he will perform yet another strange ritual, a weird mash of calisthenics and shadow boxing that ends with him shaking his fists at the sky. He will then return to his hut to get a little more sleep.
