Re: The council

A hint of a smile tugged at the corner of Yesil's lips as she nodded at the dwarf.  "I'd be a fool of a warrior to waste my time carrying a weapon I couldn't use, no?" she said in her Baklun-accented common.

"We take the magbali," she nodded to him.  "When they come to spawn."  And with that she made a wide stance and pantomimed spearing something near the ground.

[Private to DM:  magbali is, I'm figuring, her word for sturgeon.]

Re: The council

Felicia watched the dwarf and warrior woman banter in a game of oneupmanship that resembled flirting.  She regarded Arek with a shy smile of fondness, his gruff demeanor was offputting to most, but it only protected his warm heart.  Not really requiring much more than some basic foot stuffs, the mage stood back to allow the other to search out whatever wares they required.

At this moment Jaroo returns from the council and seems pleased to see you all taking together, "It is agreed, Yesil will join you?" he asks.

"I am still waiting for the common courtesy of names and introductions," Yesil said in a clipped response to Jaroo.  "Or is it normal here to just stare at those who have said hello to you?"

Re: The council

Adia-Ny had been lagging behind a little bit, but he now catches up to the group at the grove.  He is just in time to catch the introductions, and since no one else seems about to speak, he steps forward himself.  "Greetings, milady," he bows.  "I am Adia-Ny, a humble wanderer who was thrown into this group by a pack of bugbears.  However, now that I am here, it seems that there is work to be done, so I'm likely to be around for quite a while."  He grins as he says that last part.

Re: The council

Yesil shook the ranger's hand with a slightly puzzled expresstion then, figuring it must be some sort of example for the others, she grinned broadly and as disarmingly as she could and shook his hand with gusto.

When Adia-Ny showed up she was happy to greet him too, returning his bow solemnly.  "I am glad to meet you, Adia-Ny."

Re: The council

"Arek Blackiron, priest of The Father of Battle, Clanggedin Silverbeard! I'm sure you're a follower aren't you." The grizzled dwarfs tone indicated he would be very affronted if a negative reply was received from such an obvious warrior. Perhaps it would be best to agree for the moment?

Re: The council

Yesil returend Felicia's greeting before returning her attention to the dwarf.  She didn't know dwarves, but his manner spoke to her like some of the gruff elders she'd known.

"I am from a long way off, and know little of the powers here.  I would be honored if you would teach me of Him, buyuk," she said, and hoped that would belay any mistrust or ire on the dwarf's part.

[Private to DM: buyuk -- elder. ]

Re: The council

Jaroo initial concern that the introductions hadn't been completed is soothed as the formalities conclude. "Good, good, can I take it you will co-operate on this venture?  The wagons should be ready for first light tomorrow, I suggest you spend today preparing."

Back at the Wench

The party leaves the druids grove and performs whatever shopping is needed, the queue inside the traders takes a while to go down as Gremag is the only one in sight, his partner off somewhere.

Meeting later at the Wench.  Ostler is shocked when the plainswoman enters saying "Can’t you read?  Your type is not welcome here!" An argument ensues and the innkeeper is partially mollified when it is understood she is there through invitation by Jaroo the druid. "Alright, you can sleep in the stable...  probably prefer it there anyway. But don’t drink too much, I’ve seen what spirits do to your kind." he says.

One or two of the revellers puposely get up and leave shooting dark looks at the woman as you settle at a table for the evening planning an early start. Everyone is there, including Vestan returned from his shopping spree.

OOC:

I thought I’d stop this post in the evening in the Inn just in case you want to do some planning... Never know it might help.  Then again... ;p

Add you purchases to your character sheets.

I'll be posting the additional exp for your time in Hommlet, on the usual thread shortly.

Re: Back at the Wench

Yesil settled in, in her way.  She tried sitting cross-legged and steadfastly ignored the whole time how uncomfortable it made her perch.  To those who glared at her, she did not offer the honor of her gaze, and not for the first time she wondered why she was the one labelled barbarian.  A traveller alone would never be treated this badly in her camp.  The old camp headman would have rather gutted himself in shame before allowing it.

She cocked her head at the bar and supposed they did not stock fermented mare's milk.  "Whatever you all will drink, I will have that too," she said at last, her vowels over-done so that it almost sounded as though she were swallowing them.  "If you would tell me of our plans tomorrow, it would be a good thing."

Re: Back at the Wench

Ronalt uses his store credit to purchase 4 quivers of 20 arrows, a dagger, 5 flasks of oil, flint & steel, 2 candles, 5 days iron rations, a winter blanket, an oilskin canvas and a urn to store the items in.
Ronalt is creating a cache.

"Care not for the villagers stares and poor manners Yesil. They know not you. Once they see you present them no threat they will warm to your presence and treat you with the respect deserved."
"Now tomorrow, what are exactly thinking to do."
"Perhaps one of us gifted with tale telling can illuminate Yesil to what has happened so far."

OCC: I am hoping the older members will give Yesil and Ronalt a quick rundown on what has happened so far.

Re: Back at the Wench

Adia-Ny shakes his head sadly at the responses that the plainswomen garners from the locals.  “Why do people have to be so stupid?”  he asks no one in particular, not caring who hears him.  “Even if they do not recognize your generosity, my friend, I do, and I thank you for it.  Their ignorance may indeed be their death, but I will still try and save them, from themselves if I can.”

Felicia gracefully seats herself to drink and engage the others in their future plans.  "We did not find the bandits in our search of the moathouse.  They must still be there, somewhere..."

"We are hunting bandits then?"  Yesil nodded.  "But it was not the bandits who injured Ronalt?"  She looked to the ranger's face.

The woman shifted, trying to make her ankles comfortable against the hard seat of the chair.

Re: Back at the Wench

Vestan sits at the table a leather bundle unrolled before him, examining the contents. Five horn handled blades glimmer in the candle lit, arranged with the biggest with a five inch blade arranged on the right, the sizes decreasing to the left. A look of glee lights up the halflings face as he takes each out, one by one, testing the single edges on his thumb (now crisscrosed with thin red lines) and occassionally sucking on said digit. Every now and then he raises the blade to the nearest light, admiring the way it catches it and sending reflections out around the bar.

A grin crosses his face as every so often he hears a curse as the flash from the reflected light hits some one in the eyes. A quick "Oops, sorry!" and an apologtic look may follow depending on who the flash hits.

As the new human woman who seems to have joined his group talks to the ranger, Vestan arranges the three inch blade in his hand to flash into his eyes.

Re: Back at the Wench

"Rats they are, those bandits. Fled at the first sign of danger they did. I'd be suprised to find them back and not half way to Dyvers by now!"
Deep scorn shone through in Areks words. What little they had seen of the bandits had not impressed him even in the slightest. Bugbears and Orcs, they knew how to stand, fight and die, filthy evil creatures though they were.
"Enough of this talk, I'm going fishing. Want to learn how it's really supposed to be done girl?"
his stare challenged Yesil.
She couldn't possibly know anything of his background, especially the fact that he'd spent most of his life so far as caretaker for the Dwarven fishponds. Not as glamourous a life as a smith or miner, but he'd enjoyed every second of the nearly three centuries (besides the first few decades as a youth and pining for a life discovering gold seams and smelting iron ore).
