Ronalt continued northward staying close to the eastern wall. Periodically shining the lantern about looking for evident of recent habitation.
He continues through the room of tree barrels to the yonder room with a table.

Markus mirrors Ronalt's movements on the western wall of the corridor and is close on the ranger's heals into the chamber with the table.  The big warrior keeps toward the southern wall, moving warily as if ready for anything to leap out at any second.

Drake moves to one corner of the room, trying to provide a clear field of fire should something appear from the other entrance way.  Other than that, he says nothing and gets out of people's way, letting them do their jobs.

Re: Scouting today

The party continues their advance into the room to the north.  As they fan out, their intentions are modified somewhat by the layout of the room. Drake holds up on his flanking move as it becomes obvious there is anotehr room to the south west, this mostly in darkness though Ronalt's lamp lights up some more stores and also bunkbeds that seemed to be pushed together for some reason. The main room itself also has several bunks pushed into the north west corner.

Ronalt checks the alcove to the east to see there is a closed door across the end of it. It appears to open towards him.

There is still no sound of life.... or unlife for that matter.

Drake turns and moves to cover the bunkbeds in the new room. Anyone who pops up out of one of those infested beds is going to get a steel-tipped surprise.

Quietly, "Why are all the bunks pushed together?"

Aleena shakes her head at first thought of the question.  "Perhaps there are mates living together, or whomever is laying on them is too big for one?" she suggested in a whisper, the last part making the hair on the back of her neck stand on end after the ogre's attack only a few days before.

"Perhaps a meeting took place here and they needed the room?" Markus whispers.  "Let us just hope it is nothing that needed a very large place to sleep."

As Ronalt illumintates the area to the southwest, Markus moves the west wall and peers southward, his sword and shield held at the ready.

"Dunno.  Bugbears are pretty big.  You guys said soemthing about ogres while we were on the way here."

Drake edges toward the southwest, letting his vision flicker into the elfin sight as he moves away from the lanterns.  No sense in getting corncobbed by something hiding in the blind corners of the new room.

Jeepers creepers

Ronalt moves towards the west wall playing his light into the darkened room. Behind him, Markus also moves across.

Suddenly everyone can hear the sound of someone chanting possibly casting a spell.  At the same time several missiles fly out the opening aimed at the Ranger. These strange projectiles look like some sort of flask which no sooner seen than they impact and burst into flame. One hits Ronalt, the other two bursting on the floor their contents spraying out and hitting Ronalt, Marcus and the beds which immediately start to burn.

The noise of the fire is suddenly cut off and the place becomes deathly silent. The flames that engulfed the ranger do not show any signs of dying down.

OOC: silence spell in effect for the entire room containing the table and beds, you all know the drill by now. Light is no longer an issue....

[Private to Markus Sielaff; Ronalt de Gault: OK I've put up a map that only the two of you can see as of yet...

In the room you can both see the source of the spell.  It must be the elven priest, Lareth he is accompanied by at least two bugbears though the angles still do not reveal the whole room. There must be at least three given the number of missiles.

Re: Jeepers creepers

Drake takes a step to clear the corner as he brings his bow at full draw.  When he sees his first available target, he fires.  After loosing his first shaft, he draws another arrow and looses it as well.  He does not pause to see if either hit, stepping back behind the corner.  HA!  Decent flanking attack!  We're still screwed.  He's not sure if he said it or if he thought it, but the magical silence makes it a moot point.

[Private to DM:
ooc:
PH pg 38: rate of fire for shortbow = 2/rnd. no weapon speed given

16:52, Today: Secret Roll: Drake rolled 6 using 1d10. initiative.  No modifiers.

16:51, Today: Secret Roll: Drake rolled 6 using 1d6. damage, arrow 1.

16:51, Today: Secret Roll: Drake rolled 4 using 1d6. damage arrow 2.

Felicia sets the lantern at her feet, coughing at the smoke and seizing her shield.  She looks through the flickering flames for the source of the attack, unable to help both the ranger and defend him at the same time.

Understanding the implications of the sudden silence Tindoome keeps her position getting cover from the wall. She moves closer to the wall and a little back from the corner [5ft back from the corner of the wall] and waves anybody away from in front of her self.

Arek's staff-sling bounced silently on the hard floor as he released his grip on the unwieldy weapon and backed up towards Tindoome. The moment he could hear his own not inconsiderable noise, he began a booming prayer to The Father of Battle.
Although a spell had silenced part of the area they were all in, the power of Clangeddin would cut through without hinderance.

Handbags at noon

Things continue to happen fast.  Drake make a daring missile attack which as far as everyone can see is successfull, at least he isn't dead. Markus charges around the corner, bastard sword in hand, and is lost to sight and sound. Ronalt rolls on the floor and manages to put out the flames. Arek cast a bless spell which effects everyone except Markus.

There seems little response from the enemy who remians around the corner and seems content to let the fight come to him.

OOC: bless +1 to hit, +1 on saves; map updated, dashed circle silence spell zone of effect

[Private to Drake; Markus Sielaff; Ronalt de Gault:  OOC: You obviously see a bit more... battle map has been updated.

Drakes first arrow hits one of the front leftmost bugbear but his second goes wide. As he ducks back he sees Markus charge in.  Markus swings his mighty sword bearly missing the rightmost bugbear, three front row monsters in turn attack him with their morning stars but all miss.
]

[Private to Markus Sielaff: You hear the priest chant another spell and his outline is breifly it up as he add another layer of protection. He is already sheathed in a stange chaotic glow which you find almost hypnotic.]

[Private to Arek Blackiron; Tindoome Uurraumo; Vestan Pance; Yesil: You hear a crash from the south which can only be the barred door being burst open...

OOC: remember only the four of you can hear each other so if you are saying something please use the 'multi recipients' pm

Re: Handbags at noon

Drake moves towards the beds in the silenced area, giving himself a better field of fire.  Hands moving smoothly, he nocks more arrows and lets fly!  On the second arrow, it literally shreds in his hand, poor workmanship perhaps meaning the death of his companions or himself!

[Private to DM:  target priority is any non-bugbear, assuming them to be the spellcaster.  If blocked, he'll fire on any wounded bugbear to try to finish them off.

19:52, Today: Drake rolled 2 using 1d6. damage arrow 1.
19:52, Today: Drake rolled 1 using 1d20. to hit, arrow 2.
19:52, Today: Drake rolled 10 using 1d20. to hit, arrow 1 - on the off chance a 10 is sufficient.

edit: add initiative roll: 8

Tindo dashes quickly to the last corner before the straight and long hall and crouches down at the corner peaking around to see if anybody is coming up the stares. She motions for the others to stay a bit behind with a wave of her hand, she seams changed for the moment as if having a clear task makes her more of a lion and less of a kitten

She waves for everybody to stay out of sight from the hall once more as he leans against the wall and carefully listens for the steps. When she feels they are up the steps and close enough she speaks a small prayer and hopes that the group of enemy’s are walking close to each other and close enough

With a bit of Sulfur and bat wing in one hand and already forming the first pattern of the spell she swings out into the hall staying low and casts her spell almost shouting the needed words like a war cry "Ga`Del Kah Ness alanss!"

The song of battle called to Yesil, but she watched stout Arek fall back.  Her duty was to protect the dwarf and others -- the weaker ones -- though her heart longed to join in and share Markus's glee.

With her weighted sword ready, she followed the dwarf.
