Re: One down three to go?

Kalador regards his cohorts.  "I would rather we did not die here.  Any ideas would be appreciated."  He regarded Rolf in particular.  Because he needed regarding.

"We were brought her to create a distraction, were we not?" Rolf says, "This does seem to be a splendid distraction."

Re: One down three to go?

Elmo replies "Your right Rolf, we've done that and more. But one of us is dead and we may end up that way if we cannot get out. Especially if things do not go well for the others."

"We are no longer doing our job," Kalador says.  He starts looking about for loose sections of wall.  "If we charge the wall, the tower may give in and crush us, but we'd die doing our job, and the enemy would no doubt be surprised."

Elmo cast about and find a useful looking beam that could act as a batering ram.

Re: One down three to go?

Elmo reaches into the rubble and pulls out a likely looking wooden beam. The way he handles it shows the man has strength that few could match. Looking at Rolf the Kalador, he says "Right lets try and bust our of here!"

"You think they're guarding the wall?"  Kalador snorts and considers the next phase, afterwards.

"When we get outside, try not to let the tower fall on you," he says.

[Private to GM: Rolled a 17 for BB/LG... I made it!  Assuming no modifiers for anything.]

"Well if you don't smash the walls there is no danger of that, is there?" Rolf says, looking around for a spot that looks strong enough to climb.

Re: One down three to go?

On the count of three, Elmo and Kalador charge a likely looking part of the wall.  The beam end splinters as it contacts but does not break. Neither does the wall but it shows sign of strain.  Some small rocks and debris shower down but no damage is caused to the battering team.

Rolf manages to get about ten feet up the wall be fore the impact jars enough stones loose that he thinks trying the two options at the same time is maybe not for the best.

Re: One down three to go?

The three combine their strengths, again Elmo counts down from three and they charge the wall, smashing into it and through!

The tower partially collapses and each receives some damage from the falling rocks as they find themselves falling into the moat just next to the improvised drawbirdge.  A voice from the courtyard says "Blimey!" and there is the sound of feet running away.

OOC: 3 hps damage each

Re: One down three to go?

"This may sound rather foolish," Kalador begins, "but we may need to retreat for the time being."  He nods to his shield arm, which has suffered a horrible blow and might be broken.  "We could return and distract again?"

Re: One down three to go?

"The brilliant result of a brilliant plan, thank all the gods you didn't allow me to climb out." Rolf says, brushing at his soiled leather, realizing it's pointless, then looking for a way out the moat. "And the enemy is alerted and soon no doubt we shall be pincushions."

Re: One down three to go?

Elmo pauses unsure of the right course of action. The body of his friend was buried beneath the rubble of the tower, which even as they watched settled a bit more. Reluctantly, he turned away saying "At the very least we should retire a distance where we can observe the outcome, for good or ill" So saying he lead the others back to the original spot where the dead halfling began his scouting. That had only been about forty minutes before but it seemed like a lifetime.

"Well," Kalador said.  "A few more trips like that and the moathouse won't be the home of anything."  He seemed satisfied with the job.

What the?

Time passes slowly as the group watch the moathouse for signs of life. Even Elmo was about to call it a day when something caused him to exclaim and the otehrs looked up.

Four small humanoids, likely goblins, came running out of the main entrance then split up and ran off.  None were closing on their position.

Re: What the?

Elmo continues to watch but makes no move to stop the goblins.  After another five minutes there humans also exit. It is clear their path is towards Nulb.  One of them is clearly a warrior of some quality though he sports a few wounds, none of which were inflicted by the gang of three....

The threesome watch the retreating figures.  While they might have some valuables it would be a hard fight to secure them.
