"Well that would leave us to search the hall then would it not?"
"Ronalt, please lead Iviana and Gwythe there and I will bring up the rear."

The Prince was keen to get on with it, if only to speed their passage out of this subterranean prison.

"Have all the areas here been searched?" Ronalt asked.
"Has anyone listened or checked the far door the shadows were hiding near?"
Ronalt needed a little more time to recover more strength before he could carry his gear up the stairs to possible freedom.

Seeing the prince diverge from his current course Sven mumbled huskily something about having left some trinkets in the hall of feasting and abandons the leader entirely, surreptitiously shadowning Thrommel - however Sven is not surreptitious in any way shape or form.
In the Hall of Black Feasting the shadowy warrior investigates with an air of hideous familiarity.

Re: What, no more? :o)

With the majority of the party ignoring Arek (who was turning a slightly brighter shade of red), and in less than ten minutes the Hall is denuded of valuables. Only two golden settings seem to be of much value. Each has four pieces: a flagon (250 gp value), a platter (300 gp), a plate (175 gp), and a salt cellar (50 gp). The weight of each piece is half its gp value.

Meanwhile Brother Yew and Arek set too with vigour, tearing the Scarlet Room apart. Rotten cushions are torn asunder and furniture smashed to splinters, the odd grunt of pleasure escaping Areks' lips. Eventually those with knowledge of such things make their appraisal of the finds.
The red serving set is made of cinnabar, the whole worth 450 gp. The candelabra are made of solid rose gold; each weighs 1,200 gp and is worth 2,250 gp if maintained in good condition, or 1,200 gp if battered, bent, or dismantled.

Now some decisions must be made - what to take with you, and what to leave behind as too bulky.

Arek gathered the party back together in the trophy room, directing the treasure, including the shield Kalador recently "liberated" to be placed in a pile between them.
"Eith'r o' yer lasses cin tell if'n there's magic in tha' lot?"

"Now, wha' 're we ta do nex'?"
"We kin si' on our arses fer a few more 'ours, try one o' those metal doors, or head up tha' stairs."
"Votes?"

Re: Decision time

Yew inspected the pile of items found with obvious curiosity but apparently no desire to possess any of it himself.

"I will willingly help to carry whatever the party decides is worth taking with us," he offers.

He responds to Ronalt's question about the door too. "The door is very similar to the other one we found before and could not open. It is iron and has no apparent key hole. Whatever is securing it must be operated from the other side. I did not try to listen or check it for traps. Trying to batter such a strong iron door open would be extremely noisy and likely to attract the attention of anyone or anything in these corridors, so I would not consider that advisable. If my advice is sought I would respectfully suggest it is time to move on, up the stairs in search of a way out."

Re: Decision time

Being stuck in the dungeon has begun to wear on Iviana's normally patient nerves.  She opens her mouth, about to respond to the dwarf's irritation with some of her own, but she remembers Lydia's lessons at the last moment and takes a deep breath.  That won't get us out of here any faster.

"No. I haven't had a chance to examine it and, if we're not going to rest, figured it would be better examined at a later time.

I'll vote we take what's portable and highly valuable as well as what is likely magical, and get moving."

Gwythe grunts at the pile. "Take what we can carry and move on. If anyone wants to come back for the rest later they can."

He pokes through the pile and tosses the less valuable things to one side, leaving the smaller items and the possibly magical ones. "Time to go." he mutters.

(OOC: to take pile will consist of rope of pearls, scroll, potion, and the gold items. Leaving behind the silver and cinnabar, and the rose gold candelabras (weight))

Re: Decision time

OOC: Here's the list of items and their weights:
  • 2 x 250gp gold flagon (weight 2 x 125gp)
  • 2 x 300gp gold platter (weight 2 x 150gp)
  • 2 x 175gp gold plate (weight 2 x 87.5gp)
  • 2 x 50gp salt cellar (weight 2 x 25gp)
  • 450gp red cinnabar serving set of several cups and a bowl (weight 225gp?)
  • 2 x 2250gp rose gold candelabra (weight 2 x 1200gp)
  • 4 x 50gp black silver sconces (weight 4 x 100gp)
  • rope of 32 black pearls worth up to 16000gp
  • potion flask
  • scroll

In AD&D 1st Edition 10gp = 1 pound and a normal person can carry
  •   350gp  (35lb) with movement speed 12"
  •   700gp  (70lb) with movement speed 9"
  • 1050gp (105lb) with movement speed 6"
  • >1050gp(>105lb) with movement speed 3-4"

(add any weight allowance for high strength or penalty for low strength)

Yew's gear is in that second range already but he can carry about 250gp more without going into the heavier ranges.

Gwythe's list is probably right. Maybe add the red cinnabar serving set if its weight is less than its gp value? Is anyone strong enough to carry a 120 lb candelabra (knowing you can drop it if we need to run or fight)?

Brother Yew made sure the hidden door was securely closed behind them as the party left and he did his best to make sure there were no tell-tale signs to show others where it was or that it had been opened recently.
