Interlude 3: Getting to know Magnimar
Cyrus and Aradhel spend time in Magnimar shopping...

We will use this thread to shop in the big city. Cyrus and Aradhel, what would you like to try to find, specifically?

Interlude 3: Getting to know Magnimar
Cyrus explored the alchemist's and artificer's shops looking for something to help him manage in a fight. After chatting with several friendly craftsmen, he decided that adding protection beyond his current armor was probably not as useful for him as being able to manage the ill effects of injury.

Cyrus, two rolls: a Streetwise roll at a -1 penalty to find such an item and, if you succeed, a Persuasion roll to see what kind of price you negotiate.

Interlude 3: Getting to know Magnimar
Cyrus tracks down a vendor named Nobledore, a gnome living in the city, who has just such a ring.

Cyrus, describe how you talked Nobledore down from the price of $5000 to a price of $4000 :-)

Interlude 3: Getting to know Magnimar
Aradhel never felt more alone than she did in such a large city.  It was moments like these where her exile's consequences felt sharper, more pronounced.  Despite the demons in her mind, she had practical work to do.

She needed a number of items, but first was an improvement of her armor.  It was serviceable enough, but it was heavy and was really meant for a very slight human man.  The bladesong required great mobility, and she had to choose between armor and other necessary gear.

Perhaps hear in this relatively cosmopolitan place she might find some way of locating an armorsmith who could make armor shaped like an elf and like a woman.

Interlude 3: Getting to know Magnimar
Cyrus spent the majority of the afternoon with Nobledore, not only discussing the gnome's craft and what options he had for protection enchantments, but also regaling him with tales of their adventures in Sandport and Magnimar. By early evening, they were fast friends and sharing a drink from Nobledore's stash he kept behind the counter. Ultimately, Nobledore wanted to sell his wares and Cyrus promised to tell folks where he purchased this ring of silver with two onyx stones.

Interlude 3: Getting to know Magnimar
Cyrus' success doesn't go to his head as Aradhel needs his help with her need...

Same deal, Cyrus--a Streetwise check to find a good armorsmith (no penalties). If you want to negotiate on Aradhel's behalf, then roll Persuasion for her; otherwise when you find a place, Aradhel rolls Persuasion.

07:51, Today: Cyrus Weaver rolled 2,3 using d4-1,d6-1, rerolling max with rolls of 3,4.  Streetwise. --> I forgot to not add the penalty, so I rolled a 4.

07:52, Today: Cyrus Weaver rolled 19,3 using d6+2,d6+2, rerolling max with rolls of (6+6+5)17,1.  Persuasion.

It did not take long for Cyrus to find an armorer, but finding one that could work with the prickly Aradhel was tricky. Once he did, he essentially seduced him on Aradhel's behalf. Cyrus had her demonstrate her considerable fighting skills, which could mesmerize any mortal man, and then tempted him with thoughts of having steel forced by his hands caressing and protecting her supple form.

Aradhel was flattered Cyrus took the time to help her.  She didn't mean to be difficult, but she was an elf out of the forest here, analogous to a fish out of water.

Interlude 3: Getting to know Magnimar
At the end of an eventful day, the pair are able to find Cyrus' magic toy and are able to get the customization done for only 150 silver!

The pair retires at the end of the day and are met with a message: the mayor wants to see them in two days' time at his mansion. He has work for you!

Aradhel raised an eyebrow.  "If by that do you mean I require more equipment then yes?"

To spell it out OOC:

Aradhel is lookin for

Leather Armor, +2 Toughness  - 2050 sp (She needs the weight reduction to carry moar other stuff)
Bow - 250 sp
20x arrows - 10sp

And Longsword, +1 Fighting, +1 Damage - 2300 sp

I don't ask for a lot just everything lol

Interlude 3: Getting to know Magnimar
"You wound me, m'lady," Cyrus said with hand over his heart. "And not with your blade. I thought perhaps you were beginning to enjoy my company, but I see now that you only care for my mercantile expertise. How should I ever heal my broken heart?" Cyrus pretended as if he would faint. "Oh, I know. This new ring of mine will help me endure the pain." He held out his hand to admire it. "However, this brings to mind an important point. I should search the apothecaries for salves and potions that can heal lingering wounds."

We should pick up a few potions of Greater Healing (wounds only) for $500 a piece.

Should I make more skill rolls for Aradhel and myself?

Indeed, Cyrus, you should. Earning your keep! :-)

For each of Aradhel's items, talk to your gnome friend--Persuasion checks for each.

For the potion, you'll have to find an alchemist--Streetwise check at -1 and another Persuasion check.

The bow and arrows are no problem and come at normal price. The leather armor is available, but costs Aradhel 2200 sp. The sword is also available--for 3000 sp!

Aradhel wondered how much of this was the impersonal mechanism of supply and demand, and how much of it was taking advantage of a non-human.  Still, Cyrus presence let her calm her darker suspicions and she found her center and accepted it for what it was.

Cha-Ching!

She placed her dagger and rapier on the counter.  She would no longer need it unless she grew a third arm.  "It is a usable implement.  Similarly this mail is no longer necessary."
