Re: Chapter 7b: The Farm
Cyrus finds that each of the men is incapacitated but still within the "golden hour" where Cyrus could help them revive.

You can apply the heal check you just made to one of the unconscious men to revive him--which one do you choose, Cyrus?

Aradhel:
"Familiar?"  Aradhel asked, taking some slight joy in seeing Shalelu shocked, even if it was concerning.

Shalelu nods. "That one," she says, pointing to the eyepatch-guy. "I...believe I know him. From a long time ago. Is he going to live, Cyrus?"

Re: Chapter 7b: The Farm
"He should," Cyrus replied to Shalelu as he tended to the man's wounds. He was surprised how fresh they were. "Did you know him in a good way? I don't want to waste my time if you're just going to slit his throat anyway."

Shalelu's eyes well up with tears. "If he is who I think he is--he is my father."

Well... even Aradhel couldn't be hateful after an admission like that, but she clearly didn't know what to say.

Re: Chapter 7b: The Farm
Cyrus's eyes went wide at Shalelu's revelation, but then he chuckled to himself, "That didn't exactly answer my question."

His first patient stabilized, he turned his attention to the other men.

Not having been particularly privy to the story and events that lead up to this meeting, Jereth took his position as a guard.  Always best to return to what's natural for you.  Questioning could wait until the men were tended to.

Re: Chapter 7b: The Farm
Cyrus manages to wake up all three men. The tall, bald man wakes first, rolling over and eyeing the party balefully. "Who are you people?" he growls.

The other two sit up and mumble. As soon as the grizzled man sees Shalelu, his face goes white, but he initially says nothing, as does Shalelu.

Re: Chapter 7b: The Farm
Cyrus pulled himself up from the floor and watched the non-exchange between Shalelu and the man she claimed was her father. After Tanlis made his introduction, the witch added, "We are the people who saved you. But you need not fear us. I am Cyrus. We were on our way to Fort Rannick to determine its fate when we came across this lovely domicile and met its even lovelier inhabitants. You are lucky. We almost left before delving the vile depths of this place."

Jereth remained quietly on watch during all this.  Again, no need to overwhelm the wretches and he couldn't think of anything useful to jump in on.

Aradhel said nothing, she didn't owe him an explanation, and Cyrus had already provided a better one anyway!

Re: Chapter 7b: The Farm
Tanlis Half-elven:
"Tanlis, Druid of the land." The half elf said in way of introduction. "I believe the others are known to your daughter..."

The tall, dark-skinned bald man looks at Tanlis with narrow eyes. "I have no daughter," he growls.

The older man stands. "He's talking to me," he says shakily.

Cyrus Weaver:
Cyrus pulled himself up from the floor and watched the non-exchange between Shalelu and the man she claimed was her father. After Tanlis made his introduction, the witch added, "We are the people who saved you. But you need not fear us. I am Cyrus. We were on our way to Fort Rannick to determine its fate when we came across this lovely domicile and met its even lovelier inhabitants. You are lucky. We almost left before delving the vile depths of this place."

The third man stands and says, "Thank you, then. We had given up on life until you came. I am Kaven Windstrike, this tall fellow is Vale Temros, and grandpa over there is Jakardros Sovark.  Well-met, Cyrus and companions." He bows, albeit wobbily.

Sovark's eyes don't leave Shalelu. He is pale, but gathers himself and turns to address Cyrus. "Greetings in the name of the Order of the Black Arrow. We are among those garrisoned at Fort Rannick. We were patrolling when the hideous half-ogres that populate this house captured us. Speaking of which--we should get out of here before they return." He then looks again at Shalelu, swallowing hard.

Shalelu says nothing, but is equally as taken with Sovark as he is with her.

Re: Chapter 7b: The Farm

Jereth offers a respectful nod to the introductions, noting, "Jereth.  I agree that we should move out, but we had intended to search the place out.  How many of the half-ogres would you say there were?  We have ended many, but it might be helpful to know how many might still be out there.  Were there any others in your party that we should look for?"

Re: Chapter 7b: The Farm
The men look at each other and then Vale says, "We've seen a half-dozen, maybe. Not so many that they would have overwhelmed us if they hadn't caught us by surprised. The really big, fat female cast some spells on us that slowed us down, too."

Re: Chapter 7b: The Farm
The men shake their heads. Kaven says, "A couple days ago at least. It's been hard to keep track--there's no light down here."

Vale clears his throat. "Do you mind if we leave? I want to get out of this stinking hole."

He goes to move past the party members out if nobody goes with him right away.

"I suppose there's no reason to remain here, but is pursuit viable?  I am no tracker."  Aradhel commented dryly.

Archimedes had waited outside the room not wanting to over congest the space. Feeling that they were in no particular danger he pressed the button on his metal man who converted back to the hip flask picking it up he placed it back on his belt and stood by the wall looking back over the cavern like room to make sure there was nothing trying to creep up on them

Re: Chapter 7b: The Farm
Shalelu, who has been looking at the man she has identified as her father, turns to Aradhel at this. "That's why I'm here, right? Though I don't follow what we need to pursue."

Sovark moves to the front. "We're not pursuing anyone. We need to get back to base and check on the men there. I heard these beasts talking about an assault on the fortress, and they may need our help. I can show the way." He gives Shalelu one more plaintive look and then leads the group out of the buildings, nodding for their rescuers to follow.

"I can track, but do we really want to follow up when these people need our help now?" Tanlis points out.

Jereth absolutely does not stand in the way of leaving and in fact does everything he can to assist on making the exit as easy as possible.  He doesn't seem of a mind to bother with the searching.

Re: Chapter 7b: The Farm
"Seeing the open sky again would be welcome," Cyrus said though he dreaded the climb back to the surface. He longed for a life where he could just stay in one spot and people would come to him for help.

"Who are these 'these people'?" Cyrus asked Tanlis. "We set out to investigate the fort. These men are from the fort. They are going back to the fort. We just need to follow them."

Aradhel shrugged.  "If the circumstances mandate we go to the fortress instead, we do that.  It is very simple."
