In reply to Player 1 (msg # 3):

Players are now loose in the system!

Again, not ready for launch yet and some of the background/setting/system stuff is still in flux (we're also waiting for one more player).

Please let me know if you see anything that doesn't make sense, needs clarification or where you'd like more info or for me to expand on anything.

What about some sort of weapon with reach that makes you immune to attacks of opportunity while giving a bonus to tripping?

Character creation lists our total number of points as X :p.

Any thoughts from the peanut gallery on classes/concepts?

I've been rolling a few things around. Definitely not playing a tanky front-line fighter, though. So we'll need a meat shield who isn't me.

Right, I haven't chosen a point build level yet, but that shouldn't have much bearing on character conception at this point.

Weirder weapons added.

Point build chosen to be 70 points.

Please make sure you have a solid character concept done and approved by me first.

If there is anything you'd like to see added for traits/etc. please let me know.

FYI: No rush on this, holiday break!

Re: OOC Discussion

In reply to Player 3 (msg # 21):

Cool...

The question was asked by one player and I think the answer is good info for everyone:

"Can't I just max all my attributes and be amazing?"

Yes... but not really.  The maximum your attributes (body, coordination, etc) can be as a human is 5d.  This represents absolutely amazing levels... perfection for a human.  Bringing ALL your 6 stats to 5d would cost 60 points, which is most of your allotted 70.

So the question stands, couldn't I just be the pinacle of human physical and mental development and rock at everything?

So here's how it works, if you have no dice in a skill, you can still roll just the attribute part (so Body + Run, if you have no points in Run you'd just roll body).  However, many skills require training.  If you have no dice in a skill that requires training, you roll just the stat but at -1d.  Therefore, your 'perfect' human would only roll 4d for anything that requires training (archery, melee, riding, swim, etc).  Skills that require no training (sneak, run, brawl, block, dodge, smell, sight) would not have the penalty, but that still leaves you spending 60 points to only roll 4d in most of the "important" stuff.

It's your choice, naturally, but that's how it would play out.

Some skills cannot be rolled without training (alchemy, martial arts, craft, etc.)

Re: OOC Discussion

In reply to GM (msg # 22):

Another good question:

Yes, some skills are fairly similar, such as "negotiate" and "persuasion".  In many circumstances, you could use either.

However, negotiate is more transactional, where persuasion is more getting someone to do/think something.

For example, if you wanted to barter or haggle, I'd say Negotiate is better.  If you want someone to say, vote a certain way or go to one particular bar over another, use "persuasion".
