In reply to Player 3 (msg # 42):
Each point in a subordinate skill costs 1 point, while each attribute point costs 2 points.
So your 4 Mind would cost 8 points, and adding 4 Astrology would only cost 4, for a total of 12.
It seems like 70 is a lot of points when you get started, but just wait. You'll eventually have to made some tough choices on dice.
A little math suggests that if you ever want to hit a width of 3 with reliability, you'll want to be rolling at least 7 dice. You can only make so many sets of skills that hit 7, y'know? And even rolling the max of 10 dice leaves you failing to make a match of 3 more than half the time.

Number of d10 Rolled | Probability of a triple
1 | 0
2 | 0
3 | 0.983%
4 | 3.3%
5 | 8.383%
6 | 14.433%
7 | 23.167%
8 | 30.65%
9 | 39.617%
10 | 48%
A match of 2 is much more forgiving, however; you're probably going to get a match of 2 whenever you roll at least 5 dice.

2 | 10%
3 | 28%
4 | 49.6%
5 | 69.8%
6 | 84.9%
7 | 94%
8 | 98.2%
9 | 99.6%
10 | 99.9%
