Re: OOC Discussion

In reply to Brennan Otthild (msg # 124):

Looking over the NPC stats, it looks like even commoners are rolling 6D for most things (3D base + 3D skill). In fact, your everyday fishmonger looks like he's rolling 8D for negotiate. That's... a lot, especially when 10D isn't much better than 8D in terms of making a matched pair.

We're really not much different from normal folks, are we?

Re: OOC Discussion

In reply to Brennan Otthild (msg # 125):

The listed skill stats are totals, not additional dice (i.e. a commoner rolls 4d for Ride, not 7d).

So yes you are much better than regular folks skill-wise.  Toughness-wise.. you're no better.

Once you get up to professional soldiers, they'll be on-par with you generally, and often better armed.

Enrei, I gave you a portrait though you can change that as you desire.

I too hear Braum...

The options on rpol are actually pretty good.  Just click "Change Portrait" and you get zillions.

I've gone through and updated all of your equipment lists.  If there's anything else you want to beg for, now is the time.

Also, if you haven't PM'd me your backstory, please do so.

I would find it comical to give a huge man a tiny pony or donkey or goat or something to ride around. Especially if to him it was a mark of great pride or honor.

I'm back.

I do have a very good entrance scene.  I have ideas I just need to write them.

By write I mean plagiarize.

Re: OOC Discussion

In reply to Titus Blackwell (msg # 136):

Welcome back!

As a learning point:  the wasters you used did Shock damage, meaning it did 1/2 height of the roll in Shock damage.

A broadsword does Shock/Killing, which roughly doubles the damage output and half of that damage is killing damage which does not go away without one of A) Magic, B) A skilled surgeon (medicine skill) and time, C) lots of time.

Shock damage goes away on its own eventually, and First Aid can help with that.

Additionally, some types of damage will cause "collateral" effects.  For example, a slash with a sword may (if you're lucky) only do 2 Killing 3 Shock.  However, that slash will leave an open cut that can bleed and/or get infected etc.  The Fist Aid skill may not remove any of the killing, but it CAN bind the wound so that you don't suffer the other consequences.

Just things to think about...

So my plan to not get hit with a sword (or any other weapon, ever) seems to be a good one.

Generally yes.

At times that plan may come into conflict with the plans of others around you.

It's cool. We can just make you special iron bracers and gauntlets. You know what they say: line your palm with silver, and you can catch swords. Or something like that.

Re: OOC Discussion

In reply to Brennan Otthild (msg # 148):

RP it out.

If you were negotiating with an NPC I would let you roll.  If you had Hypercommand, I might also let you roll even against PCs.

This warrior has already recieved first aid, we're into Medicine territory now.  How much resources from your kit are you willing to expend?  The leg is likely broken, not much to do for that but re-bind, set and dull the pain.  He has a nasty gash in his side that is patched but not sewn up.
