Re: OOC Discussion

If this fight involves much more of the place than where it started, I'm going to be very impressed with square-head's gumption.  or disappointed in the dice for screwing me over twice with a 10d pool.

In reply to Enrei Omal'i (msg # 176):

@Brennan.  Yes, GodLike has a special rule for this kind of thing.  If you're actively ducking, running and weaving, you raise the height difficulty to hit you to 3.

@Titus:  No.  Intimidate is it's own skill.

In reply to GM (msg # 177):

Also, from the Nemesis rulebook, psychology is for understanding people and curing mental illness.

I think you want Intimidate there, Uldaf, though you may want to move the dice from Psychology into Intimidate on your sheet unless you intend on doing psychoanalysis...

You didn't tell me the tall boy's arm had a cannon in it, I might have reassessed this whole bar fight thing.

In reply to Enrei Omal'i (msg # 179):

@Brennan: It's intentional. You were being laissez-faire before this all began talking about my ability to heal post fight.

To be fair, so was Uldaf, though he was trying to make clear he didn't view this as a fair fight, while Brennan spent a lot of time making sure all parties agreed to a "fair" fight in the light of day.

He's a crotchety old man watching your gums doing a lot of flapping and things are rapidly deteriorating around him because of it. He's letting you know that's what he thinks.

He's a hermit. Don't expect cuddles.

In reply to Uldaf Asbjorn (msg # 180):

I don't expect cuddles. I was trying to convince the guards that the last time Enrei brawled someone, he hurt them so badly that Uldaf, here portrayed as a skilled surgeon, wasn't able to put them back together again.

Well. We have ourselves quite the predicament. Let's see what happens!

I'm just hoping the die roller doesn't decide I need another shot to the head.  Pretty sure everything will resolve itself if I'm spared that.

Re: OOC Discussion

In reply to Enrei Omal'i (msg # 184):

@GM

I'm not trying to intimidate them. I'm trying to paint a reasonable/rational picture of how events can unfold. I'm trying to orchestrate a series of circumstances in which only one determination can be reached based on application of logic.

Why wouldn't this be psychology?

Because Intimidation is a psychological appeal backed by a threat. Makes sense to me :P

In reply to Brennan Otthild (msg # 186):

Agree in part, However:

If we make that argument then isn't negotiation psychological appeal backed by currency?

Isn't Interrogation just psychological analysis and study backed by pain?

Isn't persuasion psychological appeal backed by empathy?

Isn't seduction psychological appeal backed by cultural knowledge and body chemistry?

So TLDR- If i want to use the skill as I've tried twice, put it in intimidation.

Check.

Re: OOC Discussion

In reply to Uldaf Asbjorn (msg # 189):

A though just occurred to me:

Psychology certainly DOES touch on all of those other skills, but is not intended to encompass them all.  However, it would make sense that one could use the psychology skill to study a subject and 'figure him out'.  This information could then be used to gain a bonus in other attempts such as intimidation, seduction, negotiate, etc.

In reply to GM (msg # 190):

You and I had a similar discussion in terms of perform as well.  That we could use perform as a substitute for several other skills based upon stage experience... however that is linked to my profession so maybe not quite apples to apples.

I'd like the record to show I very strategically diffused a hostile situation with no additional bloodshed.

And as far as you all know, I don't even have alchemist's fire. Hell, that might not even be real.

@Titus- I'm going to be heartbroken if you don't at least acknowledge the sickening PM I sent you to fill in the Alveris blank
