Re: Prologue

In reply to Enrei Omal'i (msg # 406):

Brennan comes tumbling out of the building with two big men swinging at him.  He ducks to the side well enough to keep the man with the club from hitting him, but isn't fast enough to avoid the slash of a sword from the second man, which cuts across his left arm (3 Killing).

Round 3

Brennan now has several wounds and is standing just off to the side of the entrance to the building.

There are two men at the doorway, one with a club and one with a small sword.

There is no cover to take unless you want to jump into a nearby but and hope it's unoccupied.  The two men haven't responded yet to Titus.

(OOC:  In the heat of battle, Brennan's wounds aren't doing anything yet.  Until a body part is filled with damage, there will be no in-game effect.  However, after combat it's possible he could bleed out, wound become infected etc.  Aiming is an action though no roll is required.  Getting hit while aiming will waste that action.  As another reminder, block requires you to target WHO you're blocking against.  Dodge also requires you to target UNLESS you are "taking cover" as Brennan was i.e. dodging behind, around or into something that could protect you.)

Re: Prologue

In reply to Enrei Omal'i (msg # 406):

"No... I noticed something unnatural was going on and asked if he needed help. He said there was, and they could use help, now that I mentioned it, and asked if I was alone. Which is about the point at which you stumbled into view."

"You saw the rest. He asked us to follow him and ducked into that building. When I did so, I was ambushed."

Brennan glances at Uldaf and the menacing bottle of napalm.

"I... didn't get a good look. It's possible there are captives inside. You typically don't invite an unnatural situation without at least one."

Combat Actions

Brennan uses his time to fall back to a more advantageous position, preferably one that is not in melee. (Can I move and aim at the same time? Do I need to keep dodging?)

Re: Prologue

As Brennan stumbles out chased by two armed men Enrei's eyes fix on the one with the sword.  Like a shot he charges the man, grabbing his wrist with one hand, the butt of the weapon with the other and wrenching it out of his grip, "Ha ha!" he seems triumphant as he hurls the sword well out of reach, "I took your big knife!"

Re: Prologue

In reply to Brennan Otthild (msg # 413):

As soon as they see the rest of the mercenaries, the two men split.  The one with the club swings at Brennan but misses, though he does keep up with the retreating archer.

The other jabs at Enrei, but his wrist is caught before he can connect and the short blade goes spinning.

Two more men appear in the doorway, shuffling quickly through the leather flap.  One is naked from the waist up and covered in blood.  In one hand he clenches a heavy wood axe.  The second man is likewise bloodied but retains a stained doublet and has a wicked curved knife in one hand.

Round 3

An unarmed man (the first man you spoke to) fights Enrei, a man with a club is swinging for Brennan off to one side.

At the entrance are two armed men.

Anyone can reach anyone else to attack within the round.

Re: Prologue

As the two bloodsoaked men exit the building, Enrei gets a sneaking suspicion about their intentions, "These are not for fighting, these are for killing." His large grin melts to a despondent look as his left hand falls to the knife at his hip and he pulls it free, trying to ward off both opponents, "I do not want to kill you.  Put those away," he demands levelly.

((2x7 to try to negotiate the bloodsoaked madmen into a nice friendly barehanded beating.  if they comply i'll drop my knife immediately, but I sorely doubt that outcome so I attempt to block both armed men with my knife: 10,4,8,4,8,3,6,6, 8s on the axe, 6s on the knife, 4s if i get hit))

Hopefully this is enough distraction to let Brennan put one through his eye.

Re: Prologue

In reply to Titus Blackwell (msg # 418):

Arule, abandoned by his mobile crutch, collapses to the dirt.  Though he cannot stand he manages to get his sword out and defend his spot.

Lump stands still, frozen in fear.

Godrick bolts and vanishes behind a hut.

The man with the club is either frightened or angered by Titus' evocation of the Juggernaut.  Either way he swings at the performer's head with his club.  He misses his target, but only barely, bringing the wooden weapon down solidly on Titus' shoulder (6 shock to torso).

Brennan responds by putting an arrow through the man's right leg (4 Shock, 3 Killing).

Uldaf charges in and meets with the knife-wielding man.  He swings his large stick and roars in joyous anger.  His yells turn to those of pain as the man deftly slices the hermit across the arm (4 Killing and ruins set) but manages to return a sweep to the leg (3 Shock leg)

"Get the BIG one you fool!"

The (now) unarmed man is joined in fighting Enrei by the fellow with the axe.  He lands a solid enough blow to Enrei's chest (5 Shock torso).  Although Enrei is prepared with his knife, it isn't enough to block the heavy overhanded swing from an axe which just barely catches him across the side (6 killing torso).

Round 4

(OOC:  I've updated your sheets with damage taken.)

Club guy: 3 killing, 4 shock to R. leg
knife guy: 3 shock to R. leg

Deployment:

To one side of the large building, Brennan is standing with his bow.

In front of the door, Titus is fighting a man with a club.

To the side of that, Uldaf is fighting a man with a knife.

Enrei is fighting a man with an axe and an unarmed man.

Arule continues to hold his position, Lump is stuck and Godrick is gone.

Brennan takes stock of the situation, and winces in sympathy as Enrei takes a horrible series of blows to the chest.

"Hang in there, Titus," he whispers sadly. "Enrei needs me more."

He draws another arrow and looses it more quickly than before, shooting in the direction of the man wielding an axe.

Enrei's vision spins with the pain of the axe blade in his side.  He hooks his knife under the head of the weapon before it's withdrawn from his fleshy bits, and with his free hand reaches out for somewhere between its owner's grasp and his innards to try and take the big weapon.

Re: Prologue

In reply to Titus Blackwell (msg # 425):

Titus and his assailant trade blows frantically and neither comes out better for it.  The club thumps into Titus's left arm (5 Shock).  For his part, Titus counters with a slash to the man's own arm (3 Killing).  Titus backs up as he fights, and the man with the club allows him to go, retreating back into the building.

Uldaf manages to get the upper hand on his enemy, striking him in the arm (4 shock)

Enrei easily disarms the axeman and tosses the weapon off to the side.  This man, for some reason, among all of them has the most unsettling visage.  It might be just the blood covering his naked chest, but one look in his eyes shows that there is malice there far beyond mere violence and the loss of his weapon is not about to stay that.  Brennan's arrow, which appears suddenly in his arm (3 shock, 3 killing) is not enough either.

Brennan 2x3 and 2x6 at 4 at axeman

Club guy: 3 killing, 4 shock to R. leg.  3 killing L. arm
knife guy: 3 shock to R. leg.  4 Shock R arm.
Axe guy 3 shock 3 kiling to R arm.

Round 5

Two unarmed men are fighting Enrei while Uldaf engages one armed with a knife.

Re: Prologue

Enrei is not especially phased by the former axeman's expression.  Taking stock of his two unarmed opponents, Enrei tosses his knife back toward Arule and Lump, "Now is fair," he states pointedly before shoving the vicious man in his chest, bowling him over.  Enrei then turns to the man formerly armed with Titus's new sword and attempts to loop his arm around the man's neck, but the pain in his side restricts his movement and the attempted hold is easily avoided.
