The tent/building, now that you're able to get a good look at it, is a long structure formed of two walls of thin treetrunks that come together into a triangle, like an extruded teepee.
(It's essentially an A-frame house made of logs for the "roof sides" and a mix of logs and daub for the front and back. Kinda a medieval version of this:

The door is covered by a thick leather hide.
The man on his back begging for mercy Brennan recognizes as the first man he encountered.
"Layout?" He looks around at the weapons pointed at him with a mix of fear and anger. "What they're doing in there... is completing a ritual. Let me go and I'll convince them not to kill you."
The fear doesn't vanish from his eyes and he looks to be truthful. "Otherwise they will, no matter what you do."
