Re: Chapter 2

In reply to Enrei Omal'i (msg # 519):

Combat Rounds

Disposition:

You are in the main "teepee" style hut.  The interior has a frame with four heavy upright timbers supporting a roughly square set of horizontal timbers.  From there, smaller timbers radiate outward and upward to give the building it's shape.  The horizontal timbers are roughly head height.  In the center of the room is a hip-high circular stone fire pit.

The square part where you can walk easily is roughly ten feet to a side.  The walls are some five feet past that.

The old man stands farthest the door.

Enrei is holding the chalice, and is able to make it to the door before combat starts.

Melg and her brothers are in melee range of Titus, Brennan, Deev and Bryce in the central portion of the building.  Your party has their backs to the door, and so can freely run away if you choose (though they will likely chase you).

One brother is armed with a stick that is the equivalent of a club.

None of you are armed.

The hairy siblings are clearly preparing to chase Enrei and beat the tar out of him/everyone else.

Titus, due to your reflexes you may choose one "prep" action before combat begins.  This is limited to something that does not require a roll (such as pulling a weapon, dropping to prone, starting to run after Enrei, etc.)

Drawing a weapon is not a roll, but is an action.  You can draw a small weapon (dagger) that is near your hand (i.e. not in your boot, backpack, etc) as a multi-action, but anything bigger than that will take your whole action.

Re: Chapter 2

In reply to Titus Blackwell (msg # 521):

"Gods... DAMMIT!" Brennan snarls as the chalice is ripped from his hands and the Cha'lian disappears from the tent. "Enrei, this isn't how we operate. Stop!"

Brennan takes a step off to the side and draws his bow and an arrow, and though he doesn't have time to do anything else physically, he does attempt to assume command.

"Head him off at the stables, men. If he makes it onto horseback..." Brennan taps the drawn arrow against his bow. "Well... I promise he won't stay there."

If these words are insufficient to motivate Bryce, Deev, and Titus, he'll follow it up with a harsh "What'm I paying you for? Go!"

He turns to the host before attempting to leave the tent in "pursuit".

"Good help is very hard to find these days. We'll help you get what's yours. Gratis."

Re: Chapter 2

In reply to Deev (msg # 525):

Titus takes a running leap, but can't catch up to Enrei this round, just missing the Chal'i by a foot or so.

Enrei bolts for the stables, making it to the stable entrance.  Once there he realizes (or maybe not?) that the horses, though not tied up (there's just a low door that can be easily opened), are not reined or saddled.

The hairy boys charge, snarling, out of the teepee, one armed with a club, the other only fists and rage.

"GET BACK HERE!" one screams.

Melg reaches to the fire pit and retrieves her cleaver.  The old man ducks to the ground and seems to be searching for something in the fur blankets.

Bryce curses and ducks through the door.

Brennan pulls his bow and hopes that the target of Melg's cleaver won't be him.

Combat Round

Only Brennan (armed), Melg (armed) and the old man are left in the teepee.

Deev is... nowhere to be seen.

Bryce is standing just outside of the door.  Enrei is at the stable with Titus and the hairy men at his heels.

The door to the keep is open, a full run action away from where Titus/Enrei stand.

Re: Chapter 2

"I will!  But I have to help the lady in my dream!" Enrei shouts, though he doesn't even look over his shoulder at Titus as he makes a beeline for his white horse.  Flipping the stall door open he is dismayed at the lack of a saddle but does not have the time to address the problem.  Placing one hand and the forearm of the hand still gripping the chalice on the horse's back he heaves himself up.

Re: Chapter 2

In reply to Titus Blackwell (msg # 530):

Titus lands gracefully on the un-saddled back of the white horse, effectively blocking Enrei from climbing up.

The two hairy oafs charge up to Enrei.

"Drop it you dark idiot!" one roars.

Outside in the morning light, Brennan has a good view of what is going on.  The two have now caught up with Enrei, who is at least inconvenienced by Titus being in his way, and are clearly about to start wailing on him (OOC:  since Enrei stopped, at least briefly, they'll be able to attack next round).

Looking to one side, Brennan catches sight of Bryce's heels as he hoofs it for the door.  There is no sign of Deev.

While considering his targets and options, Melg comes stomping out of the door and seizes Brennan by the front of his cloak.

"HAVE YOUR FOOL GIVE IT BACK!" she yells, brandishing the cleaver, "OR I CUT YOUR BALLS OFF!".

COMBAT ROUND

Titus is on a horse with Enrei in front of him.

The two hairy men are about to engage Enrei in melee.

Brennan is armed, but being held by Melg.  This is not a grapple or a pin, Brennan can act freely, but in order to get away from Melg he'll have to beat her in strength or coordination (he chooses which to use as does she).

Re: Chapter 2

Enrei reaches across Titus's lap and hauls himself up behind the performer on the horse's back.  If Titus won't actively stop him Enrei is not above sharing a mount, or using him for leverage in the process, "If I lose fight I will not find out why cup is important, so I did not fight," Enrei replies, "I have never stolen before.  Is not harder if you fight?" Enrei Reaches around Titus and grabs the horse by its mane and does his level best to steer it out of the stall.

Titus rolls his eyes at the naive islander

Usually you don't steal something like this unless its either important or valuable.  In this case its easier to fight because if you run you have no food or provisions ready and won't survive.  Also you generally stick to what you are good at... for you... punching.

Additionally you will send us right up shit creek doing this.

Now get your dumb ass on this horse.

He grunts grabbing Enrei by the hair and shoulder trying to push him up.

We will fight in the way most advantageous for us.  First we need to save Brennan.

Re: Chapter 2

In reply to Titus Blackwell (msg # 534):

The horse, though well-bred and normally well-behaved, does not take kindly to having one man and one giant leap onto it bareback.  It further takes offense to the way the giant jerks at its hair and the way the other man climbs onto the back of the giant in total disreguard for how horses SHOULD be ridden.  It kicks and tries to rear up but can't because of the confined space.

The wild look in it's eye as it stares down Enrei makes clear what it's thoughts are.

"You are not very good at horse."

The hairy brothers do their best to grab Enrei's legs or beat him senseless, but aren't able to get hold of anything solid between kicks and shifts from the horse.

Melg spins Brennan around and digs her fingers into the scruff of his neck (still with a firm hold), placing the blade of the cleaver beside his throat.

"Tell him to give it back, or I'll slice your neck open and watch you bleed out!"

Somewhere in the chaos and confusion, Titus manages to stand upon the back of the horse and grab around Enrei's powerful neck.

There is a burst of bluish light, and Titus is gone.

Combat Round

Enrei is on the back of a not-totally-controlled horse with two large men blocking his exit from the stables.  They are also trying to kill him.

Brennan stands near the main building with Melg holding him by the neck.

Deev is gone.  Titus is gone.

Bryce has taken a pause by the keep door, apparently considering what to do.

Re: Chapter 2

Enrei stares into the horse's eyes, apparently indifferent to the two men failing to beat him off horseback, "I need to take care of you.  We need to go!"  Seeing as how the horse is already riled up, and given Titus's advice before his spontaneous disappearance, Enrei tries to aim the thrashing horse at his would-be assailants before attempting to steer it out, but still has nothing better than its mane to control it with.

Re: Chapter 2

In reply to Titus Blackwell (msg # 538):

Melg allows Brennan to raise and draw his bow, pointing toward the stable, but does not release his cloak.

The flap of the big building is pushed aside and the old man stomps out.  He holds an old looking shortsword in one hand.  He assess that Melg has Brennan under control and so turns his attention to Enrei.

Somehow, holding a cup in one hand and the horses mane in the other while stubbornly kicking it does not inspire good behavior, and Enrei is unable to get the horse to do much, especially with the two hairy louts blocking the exit.

While one tries to grab Enrei's leg unsuccessfully, the other succeeds in thwacking Enrei solidly across the left arm with his club (5 Shock).

"Drop the cup, demon!" the other yells, dodging the horses legs.

From the entrance to the keep, Bryce casts Brennan a questioning look.

Combat Round

Enrei, mounted, remains penned in the stables by two hairy brutes.

Brennan is held but otherwise unhindered by Melg.  The old man is beside them.

Bryce is by the gate.

Deev and Titus are...?

When the club thinks him in the arm, Enrei decides that, perhaps, this isn't working.  He pulls his legs up under him atop the horse's back and springs off it, diving at the club weilding brother.  A fight it would be.

Brennan orders Bryce to do something, but the other PCs are not close enough to hear what he's saying.

He then fires off an arrow that streams toward the one of Enrei's assailants, heading directly toward a comfortable spot in their right arm.

[Godmode Archery: 3, 2x8, 2x4]

"Gods DAMMIT," he snarls at Melg. "I told you to let go, woman! You're RUINING my aim, and my bow's the only hope we've got. The demon's skin is so tough that only these specially coated arrows can penetrate his skin!"

Re: Chapter 2

In reply to Brennan Otthild (msg # 541):

While Melg and the old man look on, Enrei takes a flying leap from the back of the horse, crashing into the armed brother (2 shock to torso and each limb for Enrei, 2 shock to each limb, 2 shock to head and 4 shock to torso for him).

Enrei is now lying on top of the other man (though not yet pinning or wrestling)

The old man doesn't quite know what to make of all this, nor does Melg.

Brennan's arrow flies "way off course" and penetrates the arm of the remaining hairy brother who, understandably, howls in pain.

"HEY THERE!"  Bryce yells from the gate, taking a few steps forward, and drawing attention from the old man and Melg for a moment.

Atop the horse, there is a flicker of light and Titus is once again seated, now looking down at the mess before him with a confused look.

Combat Round

Enrei is on top of a hairy brother (2 shock legs/arms/head 4 shock torso)

Nearby is a wounded hairy brother (R. arm disabled)

Melg (cleaver) still holds Brennan and the old man is standing with a sword nearby.  They are, however, looking at Bryce.  An escape attempt would gain 1d.

Enrei puts his free hand on his chosen opponent's club as he pushes himself off the ground.  Raising one foot up, he places it on the man's forearm, providing excellent leverage as he rips the club free of its owner's grasp.  He looks at the other brother, with his fresh arrow wound, and brandishes his cup and club combo sternly.
