Re: Chapter 2

In reply to Brennan Otthild (msg # 594):

Deev stops in his tracks, helplessly choking on words for a moment.  His eyes flick from Brennan to Titus to Enrei and back again.

"I..." he manages, "I'm good at finding things that are lost or... people want but... we're miles from Thorngate maybe... I can look for it but... I don't know the forest... or the plains..."

He has something like a breakdown and does everything but weep openly.

"I'm sorry I ran away in the fight I... I can't help it... ever since things changed I... it just HAPPENS when I'm in trouble."

Re: Chapter 2

In reply to Brennan Otthild (msg # 594):

Oh yeah... Baal.  You mentioned him, been a long week you know.

Titus says absent-mindedly.

When Deev breaks down Titus rushes to his side and puts an arm around.

It's ok.  Your not the only one.  We have all felt it... each one in our own way.  The only chance we have is to get through it together.  Noone else will help or understand.

Re: Chapter 2

In reply to Deev (msg # 595):

Enrei stretches out a hand and pats Deev's shoulder comfortingly, "Is okay, I ran too.  Is good for making you strong.  My friend at home is very fast.  Maybe you are better at racing than fighting." The cause for Deev's distress is clearly lost on Enrei.

Deev sniffles.

"Really?"  He smiles.  "Thank you, I... next time, if there's a fight, I'll help.  I promise!"

Re: Chapter 2

In reply to Deev (msg # 598):

Titus touches the back of his head affectionately...

I've told Enrei in this kind of business; stick to what you are good at.  You would be more valuable to us alive than dead in a fight.  Hell if you can hide like that then maybe one day someone bests me in a fight and are standing over me to deliver the final shot when... out pops Deev to stab him in the back.

He smiles.

Or maybe we all get captured and you can rescue us... trust me not everything or everyone is cut out for battle.  Keep that sword by your side keep it sharp and use it when you are at the greatest advantage.

In reply to Titus Blackwell (msg # 599):

Titus talks quietly to Deev.

So that thing with the disappearing...

How does that work?  Were you invisible?  Did you just have the poof and hide? Teleport?

What else can you do?

In reply to Deev (msg # 601):

Neat.

Come on lets go.

So obviously the cup is a metaphorical prison for the being within....

Smash the cup smash the prison?  Or is there more to it than that.

He holds out his hand for the cup.

I'd speak to it.  You just whisper into the top?

Re: Chapter 2

In reply to Brennan Otthild (msg # 603):

I want to know its story... who is it.  How did it get there.  Why?  When?

It must be absolutely fascinating.

He looks starstruck by the cup now.

Now I wish I had stolen it...

Lost in thought for a second he snaps back to reality.

Enrei... next time you want to take something this interesting let me know, I think we can do it with far less bloodshed next time.

Re: Chapter 2

"I did not want to take it.  I wanted to know why it was important in my dream, but the family did not know," Enrei replies to Titus, "I did not want to hurt anyone," he adds, a touch of melancholy in his voice.  With a deep breah he climbs back onto his horse, "You help lady in cage," he commands, "I will go look for bone.  I am not afraid of very danger."

In reply to Enrei Omal'i (msg # 605):

I already asked for its story, Brennan sighs. She won't speak about it until we... Er... Until we pour blood in the cup. Blood she's not yet tasted."

He raises an eyebrow at Titus.

"I fed her a vial of blood the Inquistor was carrying, but she wants more. I'm not curious enough to be the donor myself. Are you?"

In reply to Brennan Otthild (msg # 607):

You won't find it.

Titus says matter of factly.

Enrei you got kicked in the head, when those bones break they disintegrate.  Trust me I know.

He sadly holds up his one family heirloom, a now empty locket as evidence.

Mine broke in the fight against the inquisitor and the paladin.

Re: Chapter 2

Enrei pulls his other bone charm out if his mane of braids, "This is not disintigrate," he observes of the crumbling bone.  However when Titus pulls out his heirloom Enrei appears clearly conflicted, two was most out of three.  He tosses his hair aside and comforts himself with Brennan's compromise, "Maybe I can find bone when we give back cup." He hops off his horse and steps up to Brennan.  He grabs the chalice, but does not attempt to liberate it, instead merely angling the mouth of the cup toward himself, "Why do you need blood?  Do you want to kill people too?" he demands of the vessel before lowering his ear to the opening.

"I cannot hear you!" Enrei shouts at the cup before returning his ear to the opening, this time practically sticking his head into it, "She was louder in my dream," he remarks to the others.

In reply to Enrei Omal'i (msg # 612):

He thinks about adding to the argument about the former bone charm and decides Hell. A win is a win.  Just shut up.

... I wouldn't talk to it like that.  It may be a good idea to give it back to Brennan.  Right now we don't know her or it's nature.  That lady may not be a lady at all.

Brennan is there a Cha'li word for metaphor?

In reply to Brennan Otthild (msg # 614):

Do we need it now?

He scratches his face looking around.

I'll do it if we have no other choice... that being said I have faith in our ability to find... or make a blood soaked cloth in the not too distant future.

As fascinating as this is I'd rather not tie myself into a demon's tale.

"We only need it now if you want to learn more now," Brennan shrugs. "I would hear her story and learn how to free her, but she claims to be too weak to speak without more blood. And that might even be true, as the strength in her voice increased noticeably after being fed the vial."

I'm curious, but not yet that curious.  Let's table the conversation for now... I'll be sure to keep an eye out for any... bloody rags that may or may not come into our possession.

So what happens when you drink out of it?

Re: Chapter 2

In reply to Enrei Omal'i (msg # 618):

Probably.

Blood is blood regardless of what the juggernaut says.  If you want to know there are inherent risks, even more than with the lady in the hut.  We know this is a creature of magic, we just assume that old lady knew what she was doing.
