Chapter 3
In reply to Titus Blackwell (msg # 250):
Summit and Down
Perhaps weakened by combat, or perhaps just unlucky, but Enrei finds the descent more difficult than the ascent.
He slips and falls several times. Fortunately, the results on this side are less dire as there are no sheer faces to fall down, only steep slopes and thin trees.
He manages to bang himself up pretty good. (1 Shock to each limb, torso and head).
The trip has taken a good amount of time, you'd guess there are now four or so hours until the sun is up again. For now the adrenaline and the cold air stave off exhaustion, but that won't last forever.
The slope levels off perhaps a mile from the town, which you can see in the moonlight is surrounded by a ring of torches every few dozen paces. From this distance, the buildings look to be a couple stories tall each. You see movement to the lights, indicating men bearing torches or the like.
Base Camp
Bryce snorts and stirs from his sleep.
"What's all this? Prep for what?"
He pauses to listen to the bleating goat and the response from the wolves, now distinctly plural.
"Shit, lads...."
Brennan holds the chalice to his ear.
