OOC Discussion #3

In reply to Brennan Otthild (msg # 43):

I do but I'm getting a distinct feeling that fire will be more effective than conventional weapons

[Private to GM: BTW I feel completely remiss for not asking but how are witches usually killed in stories?]

Fair enough. Perhaps sharing this information would lead to fire arrows...

In reply to Brennan Otthild (msg # 45):

I have no information, just based upon the descriptions we have in game, everything is dry.  The sound of your arrow is like hitting wood.  Every description of the witches is leading me to the idea of combustibility...

I would imagine holding a cloak while it's on fire is the bigger problem than wrapping someone in it...

Re: brennan, grabbing the stone (assuming she drops it) would happen next round.  There isn't really a "hold action" mechanic in ORE.

In reply to GM (msg # 48):

So if I say "shoot another arrow" and go last and Error charges into the frame of the shot, I am incapable of fumbling the shot to avoid hitting him?

I'm slow and I know it. Just making sure there is no way to plan around it.

In reply to Titus Blackwell (msg # 50):

Yeah, that's a scenario we'd have to flex around to account for the play-by-post thing.

Ideally, Error would figure out what you're doing and NOT block your shot.  However, if/when he does, you can choose not to shoot him in the back.

Based upon initiative isn't Brennan's shot before error yanks down the one witch?

Initiative is based on the "width" of your roll and sometimes your weapon.

Brennan has a trait that reduces his initiative on top of that.

In reply to Titus Blackwell (msg # 56):

When you "sneak", you are opposed by enemy Sense + best sense that applies.

If you are going to ACTIVELY search for something hidden or someone who is hiding/sneaking, you can choose to use Sense + Sight/Search, etc. as long as it's reasonable.

Using smell, for example, would not work in this cave (unless you have super-smell as Uldaf did)

Since I'm tracking the witch should I make a roll against as well?  Does this count as an action?

Is it easier to find someone who is bleeding and/or breathing heavily from multiple arrow wounds? Especially if they are crawling with one hand hampered by gripping a palm-sized stone?

Asking for a friend.

In reply to Titus Blackwell (msg # 60):

I think we're making this more complicated than it has to be.  ;)

The witch is not invisible or teleporting around.  She's just moving around in shadows with lots of cover, which is exactly what Titus is doing.

Anyone being "snuck up on" will get an automatic opposed check against the person sneaking up even if you're doing something else.

If you want to spend your action looking for someone INSTEAD of doing another action, that's different.  You cannot hunt around for the witch while also fighting or slinking around yourself.

You can certainly sneak off to a hiding place, then stay still and watch carefully.

Yes, someone who is gasping, bleeding, limping, would be easier to spot.

Actually she's RIGHT BEHIND YOU!

[Private to Brennan Otthild: Normally you don't, you negotiate them away.  There ARE ways to do it, according to what you've learned, but it usually requires either Demonic/Angelic powers or some sort of empowered artifact.

You can also chop them to pieces, that works.

Our angelic armor isn't helping as much as I'd hoped either. If this fails or the syringe is knocked away, I'm afraid Brennan is forced into full retreat mode :(
