Introduction Thread

Introduce yourselves here.  I'll leave the thread open for a bit, and for a while after we get started.  I'll be your Dungeon Master for this game, and have been playing the game for almost 30 years now.  I'm really excited about the possibility of getting back to Basic Dungeons & Dragons, and haven't played it in many years.

Re: Introduction Thread

I have been playing since about 1980 when I bought the basic set, and it's great to break out the old rules which I still have.  Should be fun!

In reply to Sherborne (msg # 3):

I've been playing OD&D since 1984, when I was gifted with the Larry Elmore covered D&D Basic Set, revised by Frank Mentzer (who signed my copy at PaizoCon last year and is an awesome guy).  I've been happily role-playing since, and have a really soft spot for this edition of the game (even though AD&D is more fully-featured, and the current incarnation of the game by Paizo is the one I play most often).

Re: Introduction Thread

I've settled on Basic D&D module B4: The Lost City.  I love this particular module and it feels like a good starting point (also, there's less to keep track of than B2).  Options in the back include fast packs, which I will post in a separate thread.

Hello! I have the exact same story--first version of the Red Box set was my intro to RPGs. 35 years and 71 RPG systems later, I'm still around :-)

Will tell you what class I am on Monday when I get a chance to roll up my character.

Re: Introduction Thread

Hello all. I will be playing a dwarf. Looks like I have been playing as long as the rest of you. Will do character properly later. Off to work (Australian time).

Re: Introduction Thread

Hi, Silverglade here, an elf adventurer. I was given a copy of the Moldvay rules as a Christmas present around 1982, but haven't played OD&D since the 80s.

In reply to Greyband (msg # 9):

Hey all! I'll be playing a halfling fighter. Look forward to the game! Been playing since the early 80's but started with the Holmes version of the game and then went on to AD&D. I do have a copy of the Basic rules and they look to be fun to play. Will finish the character tomorrow. Cheers
