Ch 1; Pt 4; Channel 3 Chat; Floor 2 of the Castle, part IX

The Chat:

Is that Darus!? We ought to talk to him and find out if he knows where Kelden is!

I don't know about approaching him. Why would he tell us anyway at this vital of a stage

Well he would probably not tell you to be honest adwonus... but I don't know. What if we wait a minute and just listen? We could learn something

Adwonus, he likely just wouldn't tell you. Just hear him out.

I could go out to him without the rest of you as well, if that would work better. I am not sure we would have time to wait and listen to him. Also, I doubt he would help us find Kelden if he is the spy, he would try to send us on a wild goose chase. I think the spy is someone else, or there is no spy at all, just a magical way to listen in on their plans

I'd rather you didn't go alone.. we don't know who the second guy is. HE could be dirty... but if you must, well be ready to give you cover.

Grao: "DARUS! BROTHERS!" (he shouts, bursting through the door...) {to be continued in post lol}

Imbellem: (Pinches forehead with index finger and thumb)
Well. Stealth is out the window

The rest of you can hang back, I am going with Grao.

My Post:

Grao rushes from behind the door to join his companions. Recognizing the need for me to do something, I decide to follow him. I whisper again to the others before I leave. "Other members of the freedom fighters may want to accompany me, MIkael, Dwalin? The rest of you can wait if you are not so keen on meeting Darus. I can ask questions that will help us gain information we need. Make sure you listen closely. I want your opinions on how he reacts to what I say and do. I want you to assess if you think he is lying or if has a hidden motive."
     {Do a listen Check (if needed) and a Sense Motive Check.}
[Private to Mikael Vaeltaja: To Mikael quietly: "I thought you and I at least should go out with Grao, we can ask questions to set up Darus too, if he was really the spy. I don't think he is the spy between you and I though, but I think the others need convincing." {Do not forget to roll a Sense Motive on Darus and his friend, and maybe a bluff? I do not think we need the bluff though.}]
[Private to Dwalin Grayhammer: {Dwalin: Can you do a knowledge adventure check on Darus and his companion}]

"Is that you Darus?! We might have been delayed, but we made it finally! I am glad I came late as well. Otherwise this warrior {I point to Grao} might have been left for dead! Found him wounded back a few doors. He would easily have been mistaken for dead, but I knew God's power makes the impossible possible. Now, he stands before you, alive! When before, he had a sword piercing his chest, he now wields it in his hand. How is that for miraculous! It sure has been a long trip to get here though. I will have to tell you about all the difficulties we went through to get here later, but suffice it to say, I believe it was worth it.
Were you part of the original group with Kelden? Or were you part of a separate group?
I am looking for Elora as well, is she alright? She seemed so agitated earlier.
We need to find Kelden as soon as we can, we are here to join his group. He asked for us to help earlier, and here we are, just a little late. Can you tell me where he is?
I need a situation report. What is going on right now?

Oh and by the way, good plan with the guard routine, and very well executed I might add. You took the very words out of my mouth! I was just about to sneak across this corridor with my team. And was going to address the group in exactly the same manner if I had too!
{*I laugh heartily, but all my conversation is kept to a whisper, for to keep Darus and his man from hearing while I am in our corridor and to keep the nobles from hearing while I am in this room.}

If my team is not out with me, that is to say, Dwalin and Mikael. I call to them to come over. "Mikael, Dwalin, Let's move here! Come on guys!, this is just the break we needed! Hehe, no need to sneak like before now." I say with a proud smirk.

I look back to Johannes with a nod, "Yeah, not a problem. I'll be right behind you." I follow Herr Johannes and keep a close eye on Darus and his men. I pay particularly close attention to what Darus is saying and try to see if he really is telling the truth and is on our side. I hope he is, for our and Grao's sake.

Ch 1; Pt 4; Channel 3 Chat; Floor 2 of the Castle, part IX

The ballroom looked much more spacious now that it was empty, save for Darus and his companion in the center. Some of the aristocrats, now locked in the neighboring dining room, must have realized they'd been tricked, for there was already loud banging against the doors; but the iron bar holding them in scarcely budged. Darus looked pleased with his successful ruse.

At that moment, Grao, seeing his brothers-in-arms, burst into the room in a fit of joy. "Darus! Brothers!" he exclaimed in a booming voice. Imbellem and Adwonus, who had been aiming for stealth, hung their heads and sighed – this is what happens when you work with a full-blooded orc. Herr Johannes and Mikael hurriedly followed after Grao into the chamber.

Darus met them with a wide smile. "Brothers! Grao!" He seemed especially elated at the sight of Grao. "How is this possible? We thought you dead!" "Aye, and so did I! If it were not for my friends here, and most of all the thin one, Imbellem over there," he answered, gesturing toward the rest of the party. Darus saw the rest of the adventurers, "I don't believe it! When you missed the boat, we though you gone. This is truly a blessing, for we now have exactly the backup we desperately need. Our mission is destined to succeed!"

Johannes inquired a few questions of Darus, who had already begun putting his helmet back on in a hurry. Darus hastily answered, "You can be at ease knowing Elora has been left at the base – may the gods see her illness gone before too long – but come! We must hurry! We must get to Kelden now; I'll explain on the way!" Realizing this is exactly what they wanted, the rest of the adventurers left from their exposed hiding place and joined the others. Then, Darus and his friend hastened toward the main corridor from whence they came at a brisk pace. "Come! Quickly!" he urged them. They followed. But before they left the ballroom, they did manage to get a glimpse through the now visible windows along the western wall; and through them, they could see Upper Herrod expanding for miles in a sea of buildings. In ordinary times, the view must be something gorgeous, especially during the evening balls while the setting sun cast its glow over the city. But now, the veiw was haunting; for several buildings in the distance were ablaze, sending dark plumes of smoke into the sky. And amidst the ground, not far away, were swarms of people moving about, their figures no larger than ants at this distance. The city was in chaos.

Almost happy to be leaving this perturbing view behind, the adventurers turned their gaze away and followed Darus into the castle halls. To their surprise, the floor was mostly deserted. Darus spoke rapidly while they ran, "We must go to Kelden's aid as fast as we can! The fool Steyus sent most his guards to the first floor, for he fears our revolution outside – but lo! We, the revolutionaries, were already within the walls!  –so we secured the third floor with ease! Then we split up: me and Edgaren here to secure to nobles – and Kelden and two others to secure the Duke. With the whole nobility in our custody, our victory is guarunteed! But we must be quick! For Kelden may still need our aid!"

Sense Motive {Herr Johannes; Mikael Vaeltaja} ~ Darus was excited and ardent in his speech, no doubt speaking his mind.

Reaching midway down the corridor, the adventurers, still moving at a run, turned onto a grand staircase on the left. The staircase was actually two stairs, curving upward in opposite directions like a decorative bow, and arriving at the same destination. They hastened up its marble steps onto the third floor. There they entered another wide hall, more ornate than any they had seen before. The walls were a polished ivory color that diffused light throughout the interior; and both sides were donned with beautiful paintings at regular intervals, hung above narrow, gilded tables. Chandeliers made of glass, and perhaps with real pearls, hung between every third set of paintings, lingering over a patterned wooden floor. The luxurious aura would permeate the mind of any who attended the Duke's court with sense of reverence. Though perhaps not today.

At the eastern end of this hall were a great pair of double doors, larger than those of the dining hall by far. There, was the Duke's throne room. The double doors were flung wide open, and to the adventurers' alarm, the clang of steel loudly echoed from inside! Darus shouted, sincerely alarmed, "Oh no! There were more guards! Kelden is in trouble! Quickly, men, quickly – the fate of the city is at stake!" At that, Darus and his companion took off at a bolt toward the doors.... for this would be the final battle...

Ch 1; Pt 4; Channel 3 Chat; Floor 2 of the Castle, part IX

Everything became a blur, intense emotion could be seen; almost felt in the air surrounding the adventurers. This was it, this is what they came all this way to accomplish. Throughout the preparations stood one individual, clearly out of his element.

Imbellem stood with eyes the size of dinner plates with his arms flat down at his sides. "Wait. Now? Like, now now? We're going to fight for the city right now?" he asked, bearly moving. Quite a shock to be tossed into one of the most important fights he had ever been in. Seeing as nobody was paying attention to his dumbfounded shock, he decided to roll with it. With a twist a few yanks, he moved his pouch from its location on his back, to his hip. This bag held his crossbow bolts as well as some other odds and ends. Metallic clatter could be heard as he ruffled about with the bolts. One in particular caught his attention, the one coated and stained a rusted redish color due to his own blood. The one that shot him earlier that morning. He sat there, looking for a moment 'special occasion' he thought to himself, pushing it aside for a clean, new[ish] one. Hopefully this would make reloading, if he had to, a bit simpler. Doing as he saw the pirates doing earlier, he nooked a bolt, and pulled it back, leaving with a satisfying click. Not satisfying enough he was afraid as he bit down on his tongue, pointed it up in the air and slowly moved his hand away whereas not to accidentally fire. still latched to his side, he found it was simple enough to move from belt, to ironsights. He left it on his belt for now... cautious to not leave his leg underneath where a bolt would fire accidentally.

He firmly grasped his mace, and lifted his shield up in front of him, ready to brace himself against a fully armored guard should he decide to throw himself at the cleric. The nervousness gave him a bit of adrenaline... he felt like he could flip Grao (again).

He stood waiting to follow the others, not wanting to charge in first. He had to prepare himself for whatever may follow. Their actions would be either the saving grace of the city, or its noose. With a rustle, he wriggled his arm so his wooden cross could dangle from his shield arm, giving him a reminder of who was protecting him as well as his friends.

"Hey Adwanus?" He asked timidly as well as awkwardly hobbling sideways, avoiding his own line of fire. "Do these things have like... A safety switch so i dont shoot myself?"

Marcus took a deep breath, letting it out slowly. He drew his sword, walking calmly down the hallway. "Ready yourselves, then we all go in together." He stopped halfway, waiting for the rest. Remember to breathe. If you keep breathing, you can keep fighting. A wry smile graced his lips as he was reminded of the instruction once more.

As we run with Darus I ask him quickly, "Do you have any armour for Grao, or a better weapon or shield?! I would not want him running into combat without armour!"

"Alright, this could be it, everyone, I think you are aware of this, but I will remind you- stay on your toes, we have trained for this, We are going to get through this. You can trust me that I am not here for a fanatical purpose, I will make decisions for what is best for us- I will not leave you on your own. We fight and win as a team. Remember to keep a tight formation."
As we step off I pray to myself, reminding myself of times in battle before that God has preserved my life. "'God will preserve thy coming forth and thy going out.' and 'all things are possible to him who believes' and as David said, 'I am young and now old, and I have not seen the righteous forsaken nor his seed begging bread.'
Let us pray a moment before we go. "
God, my Father, I pray the soldiers psalm over all my team here. I trust in thee, thou most high, for nothing is impossible to thee. Thou art most high over all the earth, and I trust in thee. I know you will preserve the lives of all those here and that fight today for the cause of righteousness, for the cause we perceive to be thy will. I trust in thee, I pray over Grao, Imbellem, Lady Jacqueline, Dwalin, Mikael, Marcus, Adwonus, and myself (and over Zin, Pyrra, and Kelden)

quote:
Psalm 91 (King James Version (KJV))

1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
9 Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

In Jesus name, I trust you Lord, Amen.

Now, make sure all your gear is set, put your potions and elven medicine on your belt, your combat items (like smoke sticks and flaming oil) on your belt, crossbows loaded, primary weapons drawn, and secondary at the ready."

I quickly adjust my inventory as I specified to Ryan in a PM, putting 8 torches into my old Pack Dwalin is carrying.

"Finally, remember the mission: we must get to Kelden and Steyus to explain the situation as soon as possible. Let us go forth together, by His Will!"

{Your tasks in preparation for this battle are:
Inventory:
1. Confirm all the stuff that is supposed to be in your inventory is there.
2. Make sure it is in the right place- ie make sure you have in your belt or pouches what you need so it is only a move or free action to draw what you need (the difference can be life or death)
3. Let everyone know what battle items you have ready and available (potions, smoke sticks, flaming oil, ranged weapons etc.)

Character Level:
4. MAKE SURE YOUR CHARACTER IS COMPLETELY LEVELED UP
5. Be aware of your abilities and modifiers to attack (so you don't overlook your new weapon focus bonus for example)
6. Apply/cast relevant buffs (buffs lasting hours should be cast for sure, buffs that last 10 min/lvl likely a good idea, buffs lasting 1 min/lvl maybe, 1 rd/lvl possibly wait.
7. Specify if your blocking mode is on or not (especially those with shields- Dwalin?, Imbellem?), did we have any other combat effectors in our mod to be aware of?
That should cover it, think of something I missed, please say something.

Ch 1; Pt 4; Channel 3 Chat; Floor 3 of the Castle, part X

Hearts were pounding, thundering in their chests. They beat in rhythm to the clang of steel echoing from the distant throne room. If this was the percussion, then the chaos of Herrod was the strings. Although the adventurers could not hear with their physical ears the burning, the violence, and the hateful impassioned voices of a rioting people, they still felt like they could hear them anyway, as though the spirit, too, had ears of its own. Through this strange and subtle kind of listening, they heard the disturbing verses from beyond the Castle walls, forming a dissonant harmony with their own thundering hearts. This was a symphony of human fate.

Sweat trickled down the foreheads of the adventurers as they sprinted toward the doors of the throne room. Their eyes paid no heed to the fine paintings around them, nor the glass chandeliers above, but remained fixed on their destination; for none of this wealth would matter, to anyone, if they did not reach there in time. As they drew near, the sound of battle ceased. This sudden silence aroused a terrible dread in the adventurers, even worse than the sound of battle; for now, they feared they were too late. Pouring all their energy into a desperate sprint, they reached the end of the hall and intrepidly burst into the throne room of Castle Herrod.

Similar to the recent hall, the throne room was colored an ivory white with gold-trimmed edges; and two rows of ornate glass chandeliers hung down the length of the immense chamber. The room was even larger than the ballroom, and had two rows of shining white pillars along both sides, though these seemed there more for decoration than providing actual support. Windows let light shine into room through the gaps between pillars. And at the very end of the chamber was the throne itself, gold with red cushions, before a great tapestry of matching color and design. And also at the end of the chamber were two doors, one on either side of throne, leading to the Castle's more private quarters. For some of the adventurers, the sight of this brought their memories back to the beginning; for it was here, in this very chamber, that their adventure began. Fate, it seems, deemed it only proper that their journey end where it started. On that first day, this room was filled by the royal court. Now, it was filled with something very different.

Five dead bodies laid across the polished wooden floor. From appearances, all five appeared to be Castle Guards, but a mere glance at faces of their companions, those of Darus, Grao, and Edgaren, told the adventurers there was more to this story. In truth, two of these slain men were Rebels in disguise, his friends, while the other three were true Castle Guards. Of this massacre, only two men remained living in the room – Kelden Delcor himself, and Duke Ivan Steyus.

Duke Steyus had been brought to the center of the chamber, not far from the fallen men, and laid strewn upon the floor; he was using his frail arms to keep his chest off the ground, to retain some dignity. Over him stood Kelden Delcor with a sword atop Duke Steyus' neck, detaining him there. It looked like the battle had been won for the Rebels, though at great cost.

Some of the adventurers had not seen one or the other of these two figures before, and would describe them thusly. Although it was known Duke Ivan Steyus was only in his mid-50's, his face looked like that of a man 10 years older, worn with wrinkles born of stress. His head was bald save for short, wispy hair around the sides, accompanied by wild bushy eyebrows. Unlike many nobles and past Dukes, Ivan Steyus was thin, even gaunt, as though he did not eat nearly enough. But despite this seeming physical weakness, his gray eyes told a very different tale; they told of a man with ambition, intelligence, and a resolute determination, not unlike the very stone whose color they resembled. In contrast, Kelden Delcor was young, both in appearance and vigor. His blonde hair was fairly short, though long enough that the bangs occasionally fell over his blue eyes. Passionate fervor seemed to permeate his every movement and glance, as though he could see his dreams with waking eyes. And now, those eyes wore a frightening malice, bearing down on Duke Steyus, who laid on the ground at his mercy.

Darus was the first to speak, "Kelden, the day is won! We have the nobility under lock, now Steyus, and more brothers of ours have come when we thought such support impossible – the day is won!" Kelden was taking deep breaths in a difficult effort to calm himself from the battle moments ago. He spoke reservedly, his eyes not leaving Steyus, "Yes. The day is won." Darus continued, "We take Steyus alive, right? With him as our captive, we can take control of the City!" Kelden kept breathing deeply, "Yes, of course, we take him alive. Then we... we..."

Kelden seemingly lost his train of thought for a moment, as though he entered a listless daydream. Then, almost as if rudely jerked from his daze by a strong arm, he began speaking again. "-Then... we... No." His countenance suddenly changed, fury seeping into his facial features. "No! No, this man- This man is-.. Friends! We've lost so many friends to this man!.. His crimes are great. So many lost! No, I... I cannot let justice slip away. Yes... Justice... For them." Kelden spoke with unusual pauses between words. His voice carried a new hatred unlike any heard from his lips before. He continued, entering an almost maniacal passion. "Ivan Steyus! Murderer! Bringer of oppression! In the name of the people, of God, of... of... Justice! I sentence you to death!"

Kelden Delcor raised his sword. Duke Ivan Steyus looked up in horror. He was about to be executed.

A quick chat...

quote:
Kelden is being influenced by Alldyde! This is not the Kelden I know! We must take them alive, we must not let Alldyde trick us into killing them!

Listen to his speach. That's not his mind! No blood is being spilled in this room... well any more. I may need someone to tackle and hold kelden..

Yes, the pauses in his voice, the change in his countenance, the hatred foreign to Kelden's character!
Do not hurt either Kelden or Steyus! But we may have to grapple then!

Adwonus, can you keep an eye on Steyus?

Yes! Alldyde could try to control others!

I don't know much about magic, but I know how to dispel it... sort of.
Alldyde is here. Most likely in the next room
Nobody. Kill. Anyone.

(Diplomacy check at 16) Kelden, come to your senses! Do you not see what's happening??

-I'm not sure how that works with an altared mind... but I'm ready to hold him just in case-
(Whispered)

I think Dwalin's strong arms can make up for any difference!
Not today Alldyde!

I've never dispelled a spell before. I don't know if I have the time for kelden... we may need an alternate means of stopping him. I don't care what steyus did. He deserves a trial and legal execution. Not to be murdered. That's what a true duke would do

Worry not, we will not let Kelden kill Steyus this way and stain his honor thusly! I know Kelden, and that he would not want it to be this way.

Kelden I trust.
Whatever Is in his head I do not
Shaun La Lone
And I don't even trust kelden that much. Never met the guy. But from what I hear, something is wrong

[Glares...]

Well would you trust a man you never met? Survival instinct. Can't help it. I'll get to know him once we stop alldyde

Shush. You should help, rather than blabber.

And help I shall dear lady. It's just... deciding how right now...
Alldyde is far to strong a magic caster, I dont think i could break kelden in time... But I could hold him still and give someone a chance to tackle him to the ground?
{looking at Grao} I know you respect the man, but respect the fact that his mind is tainted by magic. We may need to tie him up or knock him unconcious for a short time... {To Adwonus} Styus isnt dying today. Cant say about tomorrow, but lets remain civil and spill no... more blood on this once lovely floor.
{Whisper} Alldyde is nearby enough to control keldens mind. Hes in the room with us or the room across the hall...
watch the pillars

Magic like that requires alotta attention lads and lasses. Gotta brake Alldyde's focus!

So if we find him... we can nail his butt to the wall right? Ya know... aside from his guards that he defiantly has...

That's it, I'm stopping this execution.

Buh uh .. trap. I can hold keldens hand you should get styus out

deal.
keep the others back if you can with your words.

No blood. You have my word. Do I have yours? Kelden will not be harmed?
The pirate is our concern. I don't care about who made deals with who.

I ain't harmin him no point, I can't win even if I kill em, both me and steyus would be done for. too many rebs. . fair is fair, but I don't know if these other lads will see it this way. I may have to take a precaution er two.

Don't worry. You'll be safe. You faught with us and saved our lives as we saved yours. We're a team. Don't worry. Johannes will understand. I will speak personally to him

Hope yer right, hope this little blonde boy doesn't cut too deep.

Just watch your back. I'll hold his hand, but I can't do it for long. He may need to be grappled until I can disenchant him... Or put an end to his enchanter. Watch behind the pillars. I feel an ambush. Keep your head. Who knows what he can do

Grao, you need to grapple Kelden now, you know Kelden did not want to kill Steyus like this. Not some hidden execution.
{Whispers} Adwonus, we are here to stop Alldyde. We will grapple Kelden. You have just the right idea looking behind the pillars. Let's catch Alldyde while he is distracted with this!

I'm Calling you out Sorcerer!Show yerself! I'm tired O' dealing with yer little schemes! I'm gonna put a knife through yer sack and pull up nice and slow!

Point me where to go. I'll hunt down the sorcerer, I can take one side of the pillars to check.

Take the right. Proximity matters with these things

I think at an angle where you could see all (or half rather) behind the pillars if possible
Go right!

(listen check.....  to hear him!!!

NAT 20!!!

There's the trapper we know and love. Where is he? Where can you take styus for safety?

Grao: Kelden is our leader. I no tackle 'im.

{Sigh of frustration}

It's not kelden right now grao! Someone's Controlling him and you're our best shot! Don't hurt him. We need him still so I can clear his head. Please friend... you owe me one

Grao! Listen! Kelden will get hurt if you don't stop him!

(Watch your mind Adwonus. He got kelden he can get you)

Grao: I don't know what you are going on about, but there ain't nothing that'll cause me to turn on Kelden!

It's not turning grao. It's helping. If we mess up and he kills styus in cold blood, the whole rebellion will be for naught and adylldye will use him as a weapon against us. He will attack us next.

(whispering so Grao and friends can't hear) Maybe we should put him on a more defensive task

You know him well enough to know it's not his nature. (Whispering without grao) he's our best chance. Besides dwalin and adwonus he's got the best chance of grabbing him)

(whispering) I fear that the words of Alldyde will be convincing to Grao simply because they are coming from Kelden's mouth

(In return) not to mention the lack of willpower to defend against a mental assault... -
Grao. Kelden will be grabbed. That's that. You don't have to if you don't want to, but don't stop us. No harm will come to him. On my honor

After a short word with the trapper, the two nod and the orc dashes toward the raised arm of Kelden...

"Dont let him go alone! Back him up!" The cleric shouted, "I need one, maybe two men to stay with me, Ill be defenseless for a moment while I sink into prayer, any volunteers?" Imbellem turned his attention to Grao. "Grao, you are my friend. We met under strange circumstances, and again on the brink of your death. Believe me when I tell you that no harm will come to Kelden by our hand. He is being controlled by magic. His body is not his own... Things may become confusing for you, and he may say things. But believe me when I say this: Those are the pirate lords words, not your leader. We will get him out of Keldens head if we have to rip Alldydes head off to do so. Please, be with us. We want the same outcome." Imbellem looked at the horrid scene before him. Bodies strewn about, and the peaceful kelden, about to murder a man... Not under his own power, but under the magical strings of an enchanting puppet master.

"Now please, help the others as they see fit. Or, if youd please stay with me and protect me for a moment... I have a bad feeling... Plus i rather enjoy your company. You speak your mind." Pausing for a moment, he continued; "Plus youre enormous so. Id have that going for me"

The cleric lowered his head, holding his cross in hand, going deep into prayer, it was up to the others for the next few moments...

quote:
Abba father, I come before you again in dire need of your assistance. You say in your word that we but need call on the name of the lord and you will be there. Lord God, I call on you now. This mans mind is infected  with magic inflicted by the most evil of men. I ask you give us a moment, just a simple few moments so that he may be subdued and be stopped. He is about to murder a man in cold blood. It is against his character and would stain his entire future, and the future of this city should he follow though. I thank you, as I know my words have been heard by you and your host in heaven. If its not too much trouble, Send an angel or two, I have a horrible feeling that this is only the beginning... your protection is always received with happiness and open arms. Your continued blessing would be most wonderful. Should you call any of us home, so be it. I welcome your embrace, but if it is not our time, aid us as we fight for the well-being of hundreds of innocent lives. But you know... if we could stay alive that would be swell... -clears thought- thank you for your provision, protection and ever flowing love. In your sweet and holy name, amen.

After opening his eyes, the cleric quickly scans the room, especially the pillars for signs of pirate activity, or any force that may come after the party

[I cast Hold person on Kelden, holding his sword until Adwonus and the others can subdue him]

Ch 1; Pt 4; Channel 3 Chat; Floor 3 of the Castle, part X

Imbellem stared into Grao's eyes. He pleaded for him to listen to what they were saying, even though it was hard to understand. Grao had been a rebel under Kelden for a long time, and so the thought of taking down his own leader... –the thought simply never occurred to him. It was unthinkable. But he stared back into Imbellem's face and saw the earnestness, the sincerity. Such a thing was rare to see. After the briefest pause, clearly having made a hard decision, he spoke, "You... are my friend Imbellem. I trust you." Then, he instantly bolted in powerful dash toward Kelden.

Adwonus bolted alongside him. For Adwonus, there was no decision to be made. The idea that he would let the Duke be slain in front of him and do nothing – this too was unthinkable. Following his instincts, he charged toward Kelden. And so the two bulky orcs, a full and half blood, ran side-by-side in a mad dash.

Meanwhile, Imbellem did what he knew how to do best – he prayed. He prayed that Kelden's sword would be stayed, that no dire mistake would be made this day. He prayed as hard as he possibly could. His prayers were answered.

Kelden's arm, as he brought down his sword toward Steyus' neck, slowed in the most unnatural way, as though it were turning to stone in mid-swing. Even in his strange state of mind, Kelden expressed confusion and frustration at the sudden inability to move his arm. Slaying the Duke before him seemed to obsess his thoughts. And at that moment, Adwonus and Grao collided with Kelden and tackled him straight to the ground. Mikael ran up alongside them and kept a keen watch with his crossbow. Kelden's head made a knocking sound as it hit the floor, with the two orcs landing on top of him. His sword fell to the ground. The execution had been stopped.

Kelden groaned and blinked. "What's going on?" he said. He wasn't angry. In fact, he seemed dazed and confused, as though he had woken up from a deep sleep. "I think I just blacked out. Grao! Is that you? Your alive? Darus! Brothers! When did you get here?" Whatever hold was on Kelden's mind seemed to be gone. Grao lifted himself off Kelden and helped him back onto his feet. Adwonus eyed them warily, but he did not contest and stood back up himself. Grao spoke, "It's good to have you back sir."

Knowledge Arcana & Heal {Imbellem} ~ Kelden was indeed under some kind of spell, but the knock on his head appeared to have gotten rid of it. Kelden was little hurt, barely injured, though this from his earlier combat.

Suddenly, but casually, a door opened. It was the door at the rear of the chamber, left of the throne. Someone spoke from that direction, "Well, this won't do. This won't do, at all." That cold and emotionless voice cut through the air like a knife. And of course, the adventurers knew that voice. To no one's surprise, Alldyde entered the throne room. He was accompanied by three other men: Gage, Barnett, & someone new. Like before, Gage was seven feet high, bald, shirtless, and covered with tattoos. He carried a large club covered with knobs in his hands. Very different was Barnett who was short with brown hair, wearing a fine waistcoast. He didn't appear to be carrying a weapon, but the adventurers knew that was probably not the case. The new person was a muscular man with black, ebony skin. Also shirtless, he wore little more than silk pants, and held a broad scimitar in his hands. Alldyde, of course, was familiar. With black hair, a compassionless face, and dressed in a black tunic and trousers, he stood at the rear of this threatening band. He also didn't appear to carry a weapon.

Mikael said hello - by shooting a crossbow bolt at him. The bolt sailed across the room and through the pirate group toward Alldyde, but Alldyde took one step to the side. The bolt flew past him and thudded into the wall {Mikael misses Alldyde}. Unphased by it, Alldyde calmly glanced at the bolt behind him and then at Mikael. "Rude," he uttered.

"You!" Kelden cried. He picked up his sword and pointed it at Alldyde. "I remember you, pirate! Come to save your friend Steyus!?" Duke Steyus, still strewn on the ground, snorted irritably and spoke for the first time, "That man is no friend of mine." Kelden pointed his sword at Steyus instead. "Save your lies Steyus. I know the truth. I know that you consorted with pirates to steal the Dukedom from my family!"

At this accusation, Duke Steyus got angry. "Foolish boy! Since when did you start believing your own propaganda!?" Kelden answered, "I have documents proving your foul deeds!-" "Hah!" Alldyde laughed singly, with a loud and piercing volume. Kelden and Steyus both gave their attention to him. He continued, "I remember those documents well... In fact, I wrote them myself." "Lies!" Kelden replied instantly. "Deceptions to keep us from-" "Oh, not lies," Alldyde interrupted. "You owe me quite a lot, even if you don't know it."

Alldyde continued, "Obviously, King Owendir appointed Steyus the new Duke of Herrod. He's far better politically than your family ever was. But your two families have always been tense, and I could have physically felt the hatred between you two when the appointment came! So, naturally, I sent the Delcors a few fake letters, writing whatever I could think of to really piss you off – some nonsense about Steyus and the Council of Eight changing the decision and what have you. Hah! Now that's a real joke. As if the Pirate Lords could ever agree on anything..."

Kelden was speechless. It looked as though he was looking for something to say, to counter Alldyde's words, but nothing came. His reality was crumbling. Alldyde further said, "At the time, I didn't really have a plan yet. You would be surprised at how much I played things by ear. The goal was merely to stir things up. The status quo wasn't really doing it for us, you see? Our organization has been on the decline for some time. You can blame population growth and competition for that; Larblen was especially annoying. And so there was the need for... opportunity. Well, opportunity has come - better than we could've hoped for. And now, we're seizing it...'

"The plan was that you all killed each other today. I see that's ruined now. O'well. I suppose as long as we kill you all, it won't make any difference." The doors behind the party which led to the main hall suddenly slammed shut, although no hand touched them. Alldyde nodded to his men, "Leave none alive."

He added, "And if you can, start with the elf." [Combat Rounds: Enabled]

[Game Orders: Disabled] Characters can only be controlled by their respective player. This is due to the large group size.

Ch 1; Pt 4; Channel 3 Chat; Floor 3 of the Castle, part X

Alright men, this is it.

Section 1: Skill Check Section (free actions)
Specific checks needed:
Dwalin: Knowledge Adventure Check -on Alldyde, enemies, and allies not part of our party originally.

Imbellem: Heal Check (by sight of all the bodies on the ground)

Jacqueline: talk to Barnett

Skills checks anyone can add if they have the ranks and it is free:
1. Sense motive check on Alldyde's Words
2. Heal Check (by sight)
   a. of all the bodies on the ground
   b. of all those not in our party
3. Knowledge Arcana on Alldyde's class and his spells.
4. Spellcraft on Alldyde's spells
5. All applicable knowledge checks
-knowledge of our enemy is power

Any other applicable Skills/Knowledges?
-such as on the big black man

{Is this really 1 check for all people, even though they each are a different class? -or can we specify for each person? I rolled on the assumption that we could only do 1 roll, so I thought why wait, then I realized we might have the option for multiple rolls. I did not remember the ruling for the group.
17:48, Today: Secret Roll: Herr Johannes rolled 9 using 1d20+4.  Knowledge (Adventure); new check due to additional skill pt leveling.*

18:16, Today: Herr Johannes rolled 19 using 1d20+2.  Heal Check; by sight, on those outside our party; MQ. (i am not sure if it need be confined to our allies or not?)
18:16, Today: Herr Johannes rolled 3 using 1d20+2.  Heal Check; by sight, on bodies on ground; MQ.

18:14, Today: Secret Roll: Herr Johannes rolled 5 using 1d20+1.  Knowledge (Arcana), on Alldyde; MQ.

I examine by sight, the equipment our new allies have (Darus, Kelden, Steyus, E)
}

"Everyone, listen to me! We may have been on opposing sides before this day or conflict, but now we all know who our true enemy is, the new self proclaimed pirate lord, Alldyde! This man {I point to him} in the black tunic. He is our true enemy. He cares for no one but himself.  He must be stopped!  He is the root of all the blood shed and chaos, all the pain in this conflict, he is the servant of evil whispering his lies to all.  Together we have a common enemy!  Let us put away and ignore all other thoughts of division and derision, he seeks to divide us to conquer us.  We will not let that happen this day!  We act as one!  We fight together!  Today we will end the lies!  Today we answer our divine call, and we rise up to possess the victory which God has given to us!  We act as one!  Together we are Strong!"

"Kelden! Listen to me! I know Alldyde's words may be shaking, but for all we know now he is lying!  Ignore his words!  Do not let him manipulate you into a rage, act with discretion!  We will all attack as a group, together we are strong, separate we are weak.  Do not let him hook you into a blind charge!  That is exactly what he wants."

"Barnett, Gage, you men served the previous pirate lord faithfully did you not?  Do not let Alldyde trick you and make you think that he will dutifully bless you for your service, he will likely dispense you as soon as he finds it expedient, as he did to your former faithful leader.  Think about it!  He does not care about you, you are expendable to him!  Do you want to have that man be your overlord?!  You do not need him to think for you!  Who is to say that he does not lie to you as well?!  More importantly to you, you know who is with us!?  The daughter of the pirate lord you served and honored, Red Jack!  Remember that!  Do not let yourselves be tricked into hurting her, again.  Stop the man who took your leader from you!  Honor him this day!  I know you have honor and respect for him beyond this man (Alldyde)!  Do not be moved by fear of Alldyde!  You are men of courage!  You have the choice!  He does not rule you!  Seize the opportunity to make right what he has done!  Do not let his disgrace of Red Jack go unpunished!  Do not let him trick you into hurting Red Jack's daughter again!  Please!  Look at her!  Do not hurt this precious daughter again!  I know you have the courage and the inner strength!"

Summary/Orders for Clarity

I adress all those allies around me.
"Alright, everyone, this is the plan: we need to move up to fight Alldyde in melee. We will move up using cover from the pillars on the left and right flank and using covering fire from ranged weapons to injure and mess up Alldyde. Concentrate all you fire on him and shoot right when he tries to cast a spell {ready an action to shoot him}."

"Darus and Edgaren, listen to me! Take a javalin from me or my sling or use a ranged weapon if you have it, and ready yourself to attack Alldyde if he tries to cast a magic spell! We must mess up his concentration as we advance!
Lady Jacqueline, you do the same!
You three with move to the left!

Dwalin, Marcus, Imbellem, you go right!

Mikael reload!,

Grao, Kelden, get to cover and return fire if you can!

Adwonus, you know what to do.

Steyus, get to cover now!
"

Everyone: move to cover and advance (unless specified otherwise)

All available ranged weapons: Ready an action to fire at Alldyde on his Standard action, or perhaps if he casts a spell (if Std action is not allowed). If you can add that you fire at the end of the round as well if he does not cast a spell (if you can quickly reload).

Reload and prepare to fire next round, if you need to.

This is the plan if I understood correctly, please confirm to me if it is. We need to coordinate our efforts!
Marcus: take Imbellem's crossbow and ready to fire at Alldyde as specified above, move to cover, but with still a good angle to fire.
Dwalin: Knowledge Adventure, as specified in section 1, move up as far as you can with cover.
Adwonus: cast Entangle and move to cover
Lady Jacqueline: move to cover (B4) and ready an action (as specified) to shoot Alldyde.
Mikael: reload and advance in cover
Imbellem: move to cover, dont worry, you will have plenty of people near you. Move to cover and ready to cast Dispell magic on Alldyde, only if he can pass the concentration check!

NPCs:
Steyus: take cover, maybe try to escape from the door, return fire with ranged if you want to.
Kelden, Darus, Grao, Edgaren: ready to shoot Alldyde if you can, otherwise get to cover and advance!

So the bottom line: my actions
I move to B7 via E4-E5-D6-C7-B7. If the bodies on the ground affect me moving diagonally through them so I would not be in cover, I would move to B1). I draw a flaming oil (unlit, unless already lit) in my free hand as I move and throw it Alldyde's feet (his square) from cover in b7. (Square has ac 5, causes him to make balance check whenever attacked and whenever moving, adds to concentration check, with the entangle and damage? I believe we have reset the oil to have a 30 ft range increment.)
{01:18, Today: Herr Johannes rolled 10 using 1d20+6.  AR on Alldyde's square, with oil; MQ.}
[Private to GM: {+5 BA, +1 Dex, minus for range and cover not included.}]

Ch 1; Pt 4; Channel 3 Chat; Floor 3 of the Castle, part X

Imbellem stood for a moment, studying Alldyde. 'This is a magic user. Huh' He thought to himself. A tinge a fear crawled along his skin. There was no telling what he was capable of, so he raked his mind for everthing he had ever read about magic and its abilities. Maybe his apparence or aura could give a hint of what to expect. He also looked at the new man. he knew of Gage and Barnett, but this new man was a mystery, he took a look and tried his best to remember if he had heard of this man before.

{Arcane Check 13 Alldyde, specialty/abilities} {Knowledge local 17 new man, "X"}

Before he began to run for cover, to took note at the men on the ground. Not having time to check for a pulse, he stood still, trying to see if any of them were still breathing, or if they were indeed all dead.. He also checked to see if they had any useful gear he could notice. Especially a better mace or metal shield. He had heard tales of magic conjuring flame out of the air and his shield was made of wood... Bad combanaion.

{Heal check [spot] 12} {Spot check useful items, such as mentioned above 16}

He began to run, afraid of what magic might feel like... Unplesant he was sure, before he ran for his live to the cover of a pillar, he nudged Marcus as he ran, "Marcus, here" he insisted, turning his back to the man, "I have a loaded crossbow in my pack and 9 bolts in my pouch, grab them and make the guy a pin cushion for me eh? everybody needs to take cover! Do me the pleasure of shooting the bastard with my weapon" He added with a grin. "Hey you... New guy." Imbellem said, pointing at one of Keldens men, "Come with me, nobody should be alone, I need someone with me for backup, will you come with me? Or Jacqueline... I just dont want to be alone in a corner if i can help it please!" He then turned his attention back to alldyde, and took off to the nearest cover he could find, raising his shield for extra defense, should any of him be exposed

Bending his head, but not closing his eyes due to the fearful powers of the magic wielder across the room, Imbellem offered up a prayer...

quote:
Abba father, The man we face is no ordinary man. He bends the elements, minds, and all sorts of matter to his will. Surely no man gifted with this ability should use it for evil as he... I ask of you, should he attempt to cast a spell to attack, or alter the mind or world around us, you send your angels, stay his hand and cloud his mind. I ask you do not allow him to cast such evil upon us, continue to protect us this day as we face the man behind all the bloodshed and confusion of this city. Alldyde. A man of greed, anger, and evil power. I ask you protect us as we engage him in battle, protecting us from his powers, as well as his men. I ask that you give me, your loyal servant clairity and bravery, as well as your favor in this battle. If my friends are wounded, allow my body to be of service until you deem it spent. I will go as far as my body will allow me, I ask your help to carry me further. I ask not for a lighter burdern, Lord I only ask for broader shoulders to carry the weight of this task. If you may, send your protecting angels to us, obscure their vision, cloud their minds, aid us in our defences as well as attacks... But most importantly, Hold the inctantation if one is cast by the man accross the room from us. I thank you for your protection, and hope today is not the day you call me home: though I would not fight it. Thank you for listening to the ramblings and requests of a fearful man. In your sweet and holy name, Amen

Imbellem spoke from the heart, Asking for The Lords protection for he and his friends as well as him to dispel any magic that may flow from the hands or mind of Alldyde. He also asked for the favor of the lord, and a host of angles to defend their holy cause.

[Should Alldyde cast a spell, I prepare Dispel to cancel his out. Should he not cast a spell, I hold it back for use in the future.]

Imbellem runs to square K1, Full Defence (i think thats what its called...)

Lady Jacqueline's voice carried strongly for a moment, staring deeply into the eyes of Gage, Barnett, and whomever the newcomer was. "You each knew of Red Jack's fury... and likely knew that of Corelia's as well.." Her eyes carried almost no color nor sign of friendliness. "Heav'n hath no rage... like love to hatred turn'd..." she readied her bow and an arrow in its place, moving towards where she was commanded to go [B4], "nor hell a fury... like a woman scorn'd..." She points to Alldyde. "Barnett, Gage, if you go against me, you realize you go against the fury of Red Jack. This will be my last warning and invitation to you to leave Alldyde's command and either make your own, or to join ours." Her bow pulls tightly as she takes aim at Alldyde. ((I'm readying an action to shoot Alldyde on his action, or on his spell.))

+5 for cover, I'm told... I just didn't yet add that in there.

((Am I allowed to shoot Alldyde the moment he casts a spell? Or do I have to wait?))

For a slight moment, Jacqueline could smell a sea breeze washing over her face as she heard the voice of her father reciting just that: "Heav'n hath no rage, like love to hatred turn'd; nor hell a fury, like a woman scorn'd." He half grinned and turned towards his little girl burrowing his fingers through her long hair. "...And that, lass, is why we don't make your mother upset," he chuckled. "If she ain't happy, ain't no one on this ship who is." She mirrored his smirk. "But," he added, "I'd be more than willin' to take down the bastard who dares to ruffle her feathers." His eyes twinkled in a gentle, but very serious vow towards his beautiful wife.

Ch 1; Pt 4; Channel 3 Chat; Floor 3 of the Castle, part X

With a grunt of dissatisfaction, "Hmph, I should have known better then to put my faith in a weapon not forged by the Elves." I listen to Alldyde closely, paying closer attention then the situation would normally require. {Sense motive check} After his remark I shout back, "That was just a warning shot! I would stand down if I were you! We have the numbers."

I turn to Kelden while he is still near me. I grab the bolts in my hand and saw to him, "Kelden here. Take this. We can't risk you being upfront in this." {I offer him crossbow and remaining bolts. If he decline I take it back and put it on my back.} {If this would be a move action then I simply drop the crossbow and bolts if he accepts}

Heading the words of my allies, and those of Alldyde, I move to the side of the room while I draw my sling from my belt. I hide behind the pillar while I load the sling. {I move to L11 while I equip my sling. I then load the sling.}

00:42, Today: Mikael Vaeltaja rolled 13 using 1d20+5.  Sense motive; Alldyde.

Ch 1; Pt 4; Channel 3 Chat; Floor 3 of the Castle, part X

Time moved slowly. Electricity filled the room. This was not real electricity, as though from lightning, but electricity of a different kind. It heightened the senses, and made the whole world seem more detailed. It sent tingling sensations through the blood, bringing a medley of emotions with it. It even did something to the spirit, which felt more touchable, more real, than it ever did in normal life. All this, was fueled by so many things. By fear – by courage – by friends – and by enemies. This was really happening, this battle. This was a battle to change the rest of their lives.

Alldyde had commanded his men to kill absolutely everyone. And the adventurers just so happened to be a part of that everyone. The moment they heard this, their instincts swelled and took over them. Their bodies, minds, and even their speech began working on a different level, far faster than normal thinking could ever spur them to act. They burst into movement.

In the center of the chamber, Mikael offered Kelden his crossbow. Kelden sheathed his sword, took it, and ran to the left side of the room {A10}, closely followed by Grao {A9}. Going the opposite direction, Mikael took out a sling and ran to the right side {L11}, but not without sending a threat Alldyde's way. Alldyde actually replied, saying, "You indeed have the numbers. But what are sheep to the wolf?" Mikael smiled at this. That wolf was going to be biting a spear very soon.

Sense Motive {Mikael} ~ Alldyde was clearly trying to perturb the adventurers, especially Kelden, with his words. But the scariest part of this, was that Allyde did not seem to be untruthful while doing it...

At the rear of the chamber, Marcus pulled out a crossbow and bolts from Imbellem's backpack, and ran to the right side of the room {L5}. And Imbellem ran the same way, only he decided to take cover behind the farthest possible pillar from Alldyde {K1}. He didn't do this because he was a coward. He did this because... well, because... Hmm... There was definitely some courageous reason in there somewhere.

Heal & Spot & Examine {Imbellem, Herr Johannes} ~ But as he did so, he tried to get a good look at the dead bodies in the room – despite the unsettling thoughts they gave him. Johannes did the same, and was able to get an even closer look than Imbellem. All five bodies were dressed in the attire of guards, still wearing their studded leather; and beside them laid a longsword and light wooden shield. They appeared truly dead from their own earlier battle.

Dwalin also ran to the right side, being a rather popular place to be at the moment. He hustled as fast as his stocky dwarf legs would take him, wishing enemies didn't have a habit of being so far away.

Knowledge Adventure {Dwalin, Herr Johannes} ~ While running, he took measure of his foes. Johannes, too, did the same. Gage and Barnett were a fighter and rogue, and like before, were an Overpowering difficulty. Alldyde was an Impossible difficulty, with an unknown class. This frightened them. But thankfully the new figure, the ebony skinned man, was only a Challenging difficulty. Like Gage, he was also a fighter.

Knowledge Local {Imbellem} ~ And surprisingly, Imbellem knew who this ebony skinned man was. He was Xubada, an ex-slave, now pirate, who had a reputation for being able to survive anything, any hardship. He was the sole survivor of several sea battles between rival pirates – and what's more, he did it all with his shirt off! This made him relatively famous in pirate circles, and is probably why Alldyde included him in his team.

Knowledge Arcana {Imbellem, Herr Johannes} ~ But Alldyde remained the most mysterious of them all. He seemed to radiate a strange and intense power.

Darus and Edgaren ran to the left side of the room {A5 & A6}, trying to rally with Kelden and Grao. Jacqueline followed behind and took a position at the corner of a pillar {B4} with her bow out and an arrow notched. Herr Johannes ran to the left side as well, but as he did so, he took off one of the unlit oil pints on his belt and tried to throw it at Alldyde. What happened next was unexpected. He missed Alldyde... and, completely by mistake, hit Barnett square on the chest! The flask broke on him, staining him with oil too {Herr Johannes deals 4 Dmg to Barnett}, as well the ground around him.

Lastly, there was Adwonus and Duke Steyus. Before Adwonus budged an inch, even as the pirates loomed closer, he whispered strange words under his breath, words known only by the rarest of forest creatures. Then, he took Duke Steyus's arm and guided him to safety, to the right side of the room behind a pillar. As they ran, something unusual happened. Creaking sounds reverberated into the room, like that of an old house during a gale, followed by a cracking sound, like thin ice slowly breaking beneath someone's feet. Shadows were cast from the windows into the chamber - moving shadows. There was something outside...

The windows all around burst and shattered, and vines, old and dark green ones which grew on the side of the castle, crept into the room like fast moving snakes. This was something they didn't see everyday. Not only the some of pirates, but Kelden, Steyus, and others too, watched this with alarm – the plants were alive! And like ravenous snakes, they wrapped around all the big pirate men – Gage, Barnett, and Xubada! Only Alldyde among them managed to keep his legs free of their grasping tendrils, though they still slithered beneath his feet. Mikael, too, had too keep his feet from from being ensnared, though he did so with elven grace. The room was flooded with living plants!

Alldyde cursed and said, "Magic? From one of you!? This is unexpected... I wish had known. Perhaps I would have offered you my friendship instead of death. But it's too late now." As he spoke, Gage, Barnett, and Xubada all tried to wrestle themselves free of the clinging vines – and all failed! The vines continued their hold, curling around their limbs. Kelden saw this; he saw how the vines were not a vile sorcerous act of Alldyde's, but were actually helping them! His apprehension disappeared and he regained some of his former boldness. He shouted toward Alldyde, "Do you see Alldyde? God blesses us this day! The trees are his creation and even they rise up against you! We WILL defeat you!"

Alldyde was agitated at seeing his men ensnared, but his angry truly flared at Kelden's taunt. "You UNGRATEFUL wretch! I made you! You would be nothing if it wasn't for me! Where do you think your weapons came from? Me! Your supplies - Me! Who do you think let you out of prison?? ME... Speaking of which, when you got yourself locked up, I took you for a failure. I decided my plan was folly and let you rot there – I forgot your puny existence! But your family, oh, when tried to get you pardoned, old Steyus, in his fear of you causing more trouble for him, thought to have you killed in there – the fool. He looked for an assassin. So naturally, I took the job! I was curious... I thought about snuffing you out. But then I saw you had a little fight left – that maybe you could still be of use. So I made certain you escaped instead! Did you think I had tried to kill you?? If I wanted you dead, you would be goddamn dead. There is no escape from me. Not then, not now. You are an investment, Kelden – nothing more. Now I've come for the profit. And for that you have to die.'

"Do you think you can't beat me?? -stand up to me!? Do you have any idea what I am, why every fucking pirate in the sea fears my name!?" Alldyde's body began to slightly smoke, rising in thin gray lines from beneath his shirt, as though his body was smoldering. "I can do what few men dream of. I am beyond you. It's now time for you to burn. You shall all BURN!" He raised his hands and suddenly began to glow! Jacqueline shot an arrow at him, hoping to ruin whatever he was going to do, but the arrow missed {Jacqueline misses Alldyde}!

Flames began to flicker from Alldyde's body! His face was contorted with rage! But then, the flames disappeared. His glow faded away. Like a torch that ran out of oil, Alldyde's luridness quickly lessened then vanished. His rage turned to confusion, fear, and frustration. "What!?! What? No, it can't be. No, no NO!!! This isn't possible!" Whatever he was trying to do... wasn't working.

The adventurers, at least those who knew, slowly looked behind them, at the rear of the room. And there... there they saw Imbellem at the very back, with his eyes closed and praying like no tomorrow... He was doing it... he was actually doing it... Against all odds, he was countering Alldyde!!!

Imbellem chuckled to himself. It was pretty obvious that the actions brought on by him rattled Alldyde. He Poked his head around the corner to look at the magic wielder, looking at his hands, smoke subsiding above his shoulders.

"Sheep huh?" He said to him. Alldyde raised his head to see the cleric. "You a wolf? Maybe. But how often do you see sheep without their Shepard. And what to Shepards to for their sheep? Kill attackers. Enjoy your hide while you have it, 'wolf'. The same shepard that tore the magic from your hands now will skin you and make you into a hat. Hiding behind magic to fight your battles... Coward. Its obvious we have something you dont." He made eye contact with the man for a moment, smile growing, "I look forward to this. How often do you get to see a bunch of sheep pummel a wolf to death?"

Before leaving his postion to get closer, he looked at Barnett who, with his intense fighting prowess was able to tell if someone was looking at him. they locked eyes. "Barnett, you worked for Red Jack, I saw your face when you learned who Jacqueline was, and now you bring  your blades to her again. You see Alldyde is not all powerful. Do not lose your life for a false idol when you have the blood of jack before you today. Things could be different for all of Perdane, you just need to pick a side and stick with it. What what Jack do if he saw you now. Think on it."

[Diplomacy check 17 Barnett, convince/turn against alldyde
Sense motive 11 Barnett. Feelings toward alldyde/are our words getting through?]

Imbellem turned behind the pillar, preparing to move close toward the fight, letting out a sigh of relief.

"Whew... than you Jesus..."

[Imbellem Runs to A1 -full round action- Just]

Turning slightly before he reaches the further side of the room, he pivots on his heel so his back hits the wall, stopping his momentum and breathing deeply, "I really... Need to work on cardio..." He puffed to himself
