Vasuvik:
Questions: the character sheet Rosslington submitted for the 2nd post in the Character Creation thread, it lists 5 Qualities (and yes there are 3 Drawbacks as well, so +2 Drawbacks beyond the required 1 Drawback for an Adult).
Will we be allowed to start with more than 3 Qualities, assuming we take additional Drawbacks (to earn the Destiny Points needed to pay for the extra Qualities)?
Also, are we only allowed to lower 1 Ability to rank 1?
Okay, I'm currently working on the mechanics side of things today so that has not all yet been decided. If you can, download and use the character generation spreadsheet from Green Ronin games. It will allow you to easily allocate relevant experience.
A few notes on character creation (haven't been finalized yet.
Note 1: Players must first buy thier status as relevent to their standing. This is based on their position in the House. For example if a powerful minor House: The Lord has Status 6, his heir has status 5, second heir status 4 all other children status 3. Retainers would also have status 3 and commoners would have status 2. In Dorne bastards are not received as badly as in other parts so would have a status of 3 not 2.
Note 2: You may reduce ONE ability to 1 for the extra 50 exp. This MUST be worked into your backstory. There is an option to reduce a second ability to 1 but only with my prior consent so that it doesn't leave your character gimped.
Note 3: At character creation you may take up to an additional 3 drawbacks to gain 3 additional destiny points. You my invest these in qualities at the start of the game if you like but I recommend holding on to at least 1 at all times so you can pull it out to avoid a grisly death!
Note 4: No single ability may start higher than 5 without express permission. You have the whole game to train it up past there but it may severely gimp your character early on to start with it.
Note 5: You should attempt to spread your specialties out if you can. More than 2 or 3 additional bonus dice on a specialty begin to produce diminishing improvements on results.
Note 6: Languages are HARD. This is a period in time when literacy in your own language was a big deal. If you want to learn other languages you need to invest in them. There is a reason for qualities such as Polyglot.
Note 7: There are currently no rules to back up magic as the game was set in a time where it didn't exist anymore in Westeros. Caladin and I may build some homebrew rules for this if it fits the setting, though given the last magic died in Westeros when Aegon III killed his last dragon I think it will be unlikely that player characters will use magic.
