Re: IC: Celebration of all Celebrations
Ser Godfrey gave Ashara a warm, friendly smile as he said in a cordial tone, "I thank you for the kindness of your forgiveness Lady Ashara, it is always a pleasure to be in the company of so fine and beautiful a young lady as yourself."
Ser Godfrey lowered his tone as he continued, "As for the Red Priests, you may rest assured that while the Guest Right has been extended to them due to the demands of courtesy and hospitality, neither your father Lord Perros nor we Ravenhowes truly believe that the tense hostility attributed to House Amaranth Dawn and to the Red Priest Twins in particular is really in the past, neither forgotten nor forgiven.
However, given a recent development, it was deemed "politic" to extend the Guest Right to the Red Priests for the moment... though they shall be bound to the rules as much as we shall.
But worry not, as yet there is no real "Trust" established between us & them and their admittance into our company & into Kolwyn Hold should not be misjudged as an open embrace of them or their views."
Ser Godfrey paused before he added in a wary tone, "As for your gossiping with lady Jadis, it may be regarded as normal and harmless under most normal circumstances... but right now, tonight, is not one of those "normal circumstances".
We have guests from not one but two visiting Houses, Amaranth Dawn and House Kaldor. They do not know the closeness shared between you can your cousin and for gossiping it has appeared a mite more "animated" than usual. I am only passing on a warning that others have taken note, whether or not such note taking is truly warranted.
But when others take note, rumor begins to form.
As for taking lady Jadis's "jokes" seriously... I assure you that I do not. But I may not be the only one to overhear them. If another, who is less immune to lady Jadis's unique brand of humor, were to overhear such a wild tale and then turn that wild tale into malicious rumor that spreads throughout the court, reaching the ears of friend & foe alike... there could be real and serious consequences to be dealt with.
It is one thing to jest in the presence of close, trusted friends and family... another to make similar "scandalous jests" where they may be overheard and misinterpreted by strangers who bear neither loyalty to nor love for House Kolwyn. Surely someone with such a bright mind as your ladyship must realize the danger in that Lady Ashara?"
