Re: IC: Wedding Preparations
The sound of crying gulls filled the harbor, drowning out bustling merchantmen and curious patrons. Lazily the birds hung above a sea as smooth as glass, white wings outstretched as they floated on warm swells of sea air. Every now and again, one would dive low after a fish floating dead in the surf. Beyond, sailcloths floated on the distant horizon: headed to unknown ports.
A quiet day for Gabriel Laurent. He'd taken a few moments following their patrol to enjoy the view, watching the sea undulate quietly through the slit of his great helm. The warrior's plated gauntlet rested easily on the pommel of his blade, Cloudbreaker, despite his sense of ease. His back stayed ramrod straight, though he still stood no higher than the ordinary man. At his back, and wrapped around his shoulders, hung a cloak of drab earthen brown: its hemmed edges threadbare, and its tail tinged with red dirt from the road.
On his chest, three violet raindrops stood out proudly, resplendently emblazoned on a world weary brigandine vest of steel riveted to weathered leather.
He turned, helm facing to the market and crowd gathered therein. Something caught the warrior's interest, and the Raindrop "Knight" slowly turned heel to meet it and made his way down the dock to the shore. Each step on the pier's planking drew a protesting squeak from sun-bleached timber.
His steps, though heavy, carried an undeniable grace and economy of movement. Gabriel Laurent moved like a warrior, unimpeded by the steel that girded his body.
Gabriel's path led him to Lady Ashara Kolwyn and her mother, Lady Tansa. He hovered at the scene's edge, saying nothing and interjecting not at all as the girl greeted a commoner boy. Though it was his intention not to interrupt, his presence did it all the same. A man in steel from head to toe, armed and vigilant, was menacing even with the best of intentions.
If noted, by either noble lady, the warrior would bow respectfully.
