Re: IC: Back at the 'Hill'

Being dismissed by his father in such a way, was bitter sweet to the pride of young Mathys. He wanted to depart that mind numbing meeting, but to be waved away like he was a cup boy, was another matter. But the second son wanted to speak with his friend, Edric before he departed, but whatever Mathys was going to say, died upon his tongue, when he heard the Man of Dorne speaking in the courtyard.

The young knight stood at the doorway, with hands on his hips, and attempted to digest the maggots the prancing man of Dorne was saying. The Horse being moved in a circle was a tactic to intimidate opponents, Mathys had seen it many a time before a battle. Suddenly, and without a word of warning, Mathys sprang forward into a run, like some predator after prey. Mathys attempted to time this action as he leaped upon the hitching rail, and using that as a spring board, leaped up when the Dornish Speaker passed, and grabbed onto  an upper arm and then jerked the man backward and out of the saddle. Or so he attempted.

In reply to Ser Mathys Ashfield (msg # 58):

Some in the courtyard see Mathys in action. They are shocked at his action, some find themselves breathless at the event, as time just slows down - its as if all eyes are on Mathys and the courtyard and the only thing that matters and is happening is this event.

My Lord, if you do not wish privacy. I would be glad and stay. I am sure there is little I can add, but I am sure I can learn much from the both of you.

Mara smiled at Lord Ascar as she took a more submissive body posture.

Re: IC: Back at the 'Hill'

Mara was not worried about Lord Garin. She knew his kind, and understood that it was all part of the game. Garin has an agenda, and Mara was going to determine what it was. She had her suppositions, but she needed more before going to Lord Ascar. He had told them about the assassin, but she did not truly confirm who or when.

I thank you Lords. You are most gracious in your allowing me to sit. All this talk of intrigue and assassins is enough to make a true Lady faint.  Knowing that the Honorable and battle harden Lord Garin is on top of situation puts a mind at peace. I am sure that you, Lord Garin, have a clever plan to take down this assassin and shame the House that was trying to bring such villainy to such an illustrious event.

Re: IC: Back at the 'Hill'

In reply to Ser Mathys Ashfield (msg # 58):

As Ser Mathys began to make his attack it seemed he was too heavy footed as Vernon spotted him in his attempt to make a sneak attack while his back was turned. He was surprised by the daringness of the Knight of House Ashfield. He moved with his spear in hand and as Mathys made the jump from the Cart, his footing slipped not gaining what he needed, and he stumbled forward, loosing his footing. And as he did so he felt the butt of Vernon's spear collide with cheek born forcing him off his feet. "ATTACKING A GUEST WHO WAS HERE ON INVITE! WHILE HIS BACK IS TURNED NO LESS!!!" Mathys heard the ringing in his ears as he gained his barings. "Has Garin sunk his fangs into you already!?!" he yelled at the top of his lungs. He pointed at Mathys, "Consider this your only warning!"

Re: IC: Back at the 'Hill'

Well, that went nothing like what Mathys had intended. He felt himself knocked backward onto his arse. Training and reflexes of the young then took hold, without thought, as he reversed rolled to his feet again. He just glared at the Man from Dorne, as he touched where the spear had struck his face.

When the mounted man finished his words, Mathys snarled a reply. "Spare me, your protests of guest rights, Dornishman. You come here making threats to other guests, and then dare to make demands as to where my Lord Father, can go on his own Demise? Let us not forget that maneuver on horseback you where doing." The second son spat on the ground in the direction of the Horseman. " I went to pull you off, to teach you manners of  a guest, but  I failed." Mathys just stood there, glaring at the man.

Re: IC: Back at the 'Hill'

Vernon seemed to laugh, as Mathys spit with it came some blood. "Then do a better job at killing me, if the attempts continue to be this half assed I'll be around for some time." He pointed his spear down at Mathys, it was now the gravity of the situation hit him, Vernon was fully armors and mounted in front of him. "Tell your father then, that he has two days, TWO DAYS to make his decision. Should we not hear from him by then, well, there is a storm a brewing off the coast. It'd be a shame if your ships began sinking..." He reared his horse up and turned him around and the horse kicked dirt into the face of Mathys as he road off, spreading the message. "If This Craven will not spread my message all of you have heard it... go to your masters... House Steiner will not be insulted."

Re: IC: Back at the 'Hill'

When Mathys was attacked by Vernon one of the guards on the wall went to move with a cross bow to shoot him. But he was quickly knocked from his feet by on of the others. He didn't seem to attack him but for those watching it seemed this guardsman just prevented an all out war, by stopping his Colleague.

Mathys stood his ground, and continued to glare at the Dorne, but remained silent. He watched the man ride off, and waited until, he was out of sight, before he said but three words like a whisper. " Until next time." He turned and smiled to those gathered.

Re: IC: Back at the 'Hill'

Wolfgang rushes out of the courtyard and searches for Garin. Knocking and then entering without the ok,  .....  Standing by the door, somewhat out of breath, Wolfgang speaks up "M'Lord Garin, it seems The lack of salt in the air has driven young lord Vernon Steiner, to call on the House of Koldar, ...m'lord he says he is knows of the 'Buther' and your brother."

The commotion has gotten the Hill in an uproar, ... Now the hallways and servants, guards and others have begun to speak about the events of a 'mad Dornish' that has invaded the courtyard. The call to arms has not yet been sound, so many are wondering what is really going on.

The meeting is interrupted by Wolfgang and Lord Garin is no longer interested in the events of the table, his focus is now the events in the courtyard. "M'lady you said the Blue Lancer will able to escort me, I ask that they do but not back to Dorne but to Blackhaven in the Stormlands and we most leave tonight in the cover of dark, my brother's life is in danger." As Garin starts to walk out "I will handle Vernon before he kills someone" as he looks back at the lord and the remainder of those still at the table, he nods his head showing he will deal with this, ....

Re: IC: Back at the 'Hill'

Mara stood up, and before speaking she speaking she straighten her dress. She knew her brother had large shadows protecting her. She turned towards where she thought Ser Duncan or the Strongman, Bruce, would be.

One of you bring Merius to me. He is not to stop, and speak to anyone. He is to come and seek me out. Now go!

Her volume was low, and her size was not intimidating. But, she had a way of speaking that would not allow many to speak against her words.

Re: IC: Back at the 'Hill'

Wallace has been tending to his duties around the house. He has a lot to get ready, the lord has ask that a feast be ready for the Dornish lords. And will that take up a great deal of his time to prepare. He also has his rounds and then there are the solider. Wallace pays little attention to them but he does check on reports from the captains to make sure they are keeping up with there responsibilities, even thou he really doesn't care for it much.

As he is in the kitchen checking on the food that need to be ready in the next 2 days a young girl comes crashing in the kitchen door, "Ser Mathys's is taking on the Dornish Viper single handed." "Hurry come see !@!"

Re: IC: Back at the 'Hill'

As she  saw Merius come towards her, she gave a parting bow to Lord Ascar as was proper before leaving.

Thank you Merius for coming so quickly. Let us go where we can speak more privately.

She knew her shadows would follow, but she hoped that they understood her need for privacy. She walked silent until she found a hallway that would meet he purposes.

Captain Merius, you will be ordered soon to depart on a mission to protect Lord Garin on his way to Blackhaven in the Stormlands. But, I wish to give you a mission as well one that can not be brought to the attention of my father or brother. I give you my word of honor that I will not ask anything that would place your honor in jeopardy. Before, I tell you your mission you must promise me that you will keep silent about this secret mission until I say otherwise.

Merius sighed.

This was not what he expected. But then again, things rarely are as one expects... 'Lady Neumman, you put me in a difficult position, I'm at the service of your father.'

He paused for effect.

'But, nobody ever said that Merius Basso would not help a Lady in need. You have my word.'

Re: IC: Back at the 'Hill'

I am sorry I ask you this I asssure you if there was any other way I would use it, but a plot is a foot. The target of the Plot is most likely House Ashfield or Neumann. At this meeting Lord Garin told us of a plot he discovered. One of the Dornish Houses, he did not say directly, but made it obvious he thought it was Steiner was plotting to assassinate another Dornish Lord. The blame would be laid onto one of the Houses from the Reach. He seems honorable, but I can sense there is much he did not tell us. I think he may know who the target is, and when the assassin will strike. He wishes to catch them in the act, so he can gain leverage or some other advantage. We are to join you at Blackhaven with the idea that many of the Dornish Lords and Lord Ashfield will ride in together symbolizing the peace. I believe the attack will unfold sometime in that gathering. You are simply to watch, and learn all you can about the plot. I am not certain how, but I have faith in you Captain.

Mara looked at the Sell sword Captain. She hoped that she had not misread the man. Much was said about sell swords, and their lack of honor. She believed all men could have honor no matter their profession. It was simply a choice.

Merius grunted. Again, not quite what he had imagined, but in fact, this should prove far more interesting than chasing bandits in the countryside. The adventurer in him was interested. 'It shall be done as you say. I will look and hear. I will leave you and your brother with half the lances and Lysono and I will take the other half with me to escort this Lord Garin.'

I will leave those details to you and my brother.

She removes her satchel that hangs camouflaged in her dress.  The satchel smells of peaches and honey.

Allow me to give you as a token of my gratitude, Captain. May it act as a reminder that you have a home within our House. No longer to you need to roam.

The second son, brushed himself off and again touched where the Dornish spear had struck him in the face. Mathys spat blood again, but the smile was still present upon the young man's lips. It was obvious to anyone that cared to regard the matter, that Mathys was far from being intimidated by the events that just transpired. " What are all you looking at anyway?" He said to the small folk, looking on. "Get about your business...now!"

Re: IC: Back at the 'Hill'

Merius thanked Lady Neumman and quickly progressed to the lances' camp. Once in there he opened the bag and spotted the gold. He was befuddled by it. Was it for some specific purpose? He pocketed it for the moment and would consider the best use for it later.

He called Lysono and instructed him to keep a close eye on the Neummans. A much closer eye than they have done so far. The Neummans were never to go anywhere without someone from the lances following.

After a frugal meal, and still with Tyco in tow, he went to meet this Lord Garin and to see how the preparations were for this journey.

Lord Garin and Wolfgand make their way down and into the courtyard. As Lord Garin walks down a few steps he yells out at Vernon, "So Vernon, ... you come looking for a fight, threaton my brother!" he draws his sword, And continues to walk, not run and not quickly to Vernon on horseback, his solider quickly gets in path or Garin".
