IC: Gathering of the 'Hold' (6)

Ashara Kolwyn spend the following day about the castle, she is quite board without her Jadis and Gabriel is just not as much fun. That evening a scout arrives with word to Lord Perros - The party is returning with news and they are expected by next day. The lord doesn't discuss the particulars with anyone. And so the day pass and the next day comes, close to mid-day the party is seen coming over the horizon.

Re: Gathering of the 'Hold'

Ser Enesto Riquez is in the courtyard practicing with some of the other men as Lord Perros comes from the inner walls, "Ser Enesto are scouts and men return greet your bother in arms and once they are ready I wish yours and all of their council..... in the great hall all with title station will attend." His instructs sound like the days of war when he called every to chambers. The thought has brought the hair on the back for your neck to raise.

The lord does not wait for his sons or any to enter nor to greet them, he leaves to prepare himself.

Re: Gathering of the 'Hold'

Ser Hassan had brought his horse to a canter as they crossed the castle into the courtyard Hassan had a young man riding with him on his horse. Dismounting as he pulled his horse over toward the stable, he reached up and grabbed the boy under his arms and lifted him down gently onto the ground. "There you go boy," he said to him as he tied off his horse and ordered one of the houses squires to remove the horses barding and to have it oiled and taken care of.

Walking uptoward his brother Godfrey the two began to speak, "Brother, I need you to return to Raven's Roost, and make the necessary preparations we spoke of. In my Absence you will be in charge. Leave as soon as you can, I will send a message as soon as possible." Placing various weapons away, Hassan grabbed his boar spear and began making sure the knights were stabling their horses, and ensuring they were still ready.

Re: Gathering of the 'Hold'

It was true, Gabriel lacked much of the joviality and playfulness of other companions. Conversation with him was one-sided, giving one the impression that they were shouting into the wind or speaking to a statue. He seemed the sort of man to remain silent, unless he had something of import to say: saving every word as if it were a precious treasure. So much so that the occasional comment from him earned real surprise from those around him. People took notice, if only for the curiosity of it.

So it was that Gabriel remained quietly at Ashara's side, or not far from it, as Lord Perros' assembly began to gather. Along the wall, standing stoically with one hand rested with warm familiarity on his blade's sheath - his steel-girded fingers wrapped about its width. He left Ashara's side only when asked, or when propriety demanded it. Hanging there wherever she went, a mysterious and vigilant shade following in her footsteps.

When the gathering in the Great Hall was called for Gabriel was unsure whether or not he ought attend. So the warrior took his cue from Ashara: remaining with her, attending only if she did.

Re: Gathering of the 'Hold'

Ser Ernesto said nothing to his lord as the order was given. He simply looked over and gave a quick nod before barging into a recruit and knocking him over. "Next time there will be no play fight. Be prepared for anything" he said to the young soldier, before taking his leave.

Watching the party return he followed slowly on foot to the stables. he was in no rush as he knew it would take some time for the warriors to get cleaned up. as the men dismounted their horses. Ser Ernesto made his pressance known "So it is good to see you have bloodied your spears on the Bandits, our lord seeks council as soon as you can muster the strength, accompany me to see him". He boasts, obviosly to him they were unsucsessful in clearing out some simple bandits.

Re: Gathering of the 'Hold'

Ashara has been eagerly awaiting the return of her sister and uncle. She'd been chattering to Gabriel (despite his rare responses) as she attended to her needlework when she catches sight of the Ser Hassan's party approaching the castle from the window. She lets out an excited cry and hurries to the great hall to greet them when they come in, forgetting her work in her excitement.

Re: Gathering of the 'Hold'

Ashara's keeper paused to pick up her needlework and place it carefully on the table, out of the way but safe from being accidentally ruined by the household's many servants. His gauntleted-hands carried it with a careful gentleness one would not expect of a man shod in steel. As he placed the hoop and cloth down he glanced out the window himself, briefly watching Ser Hassan approach through the slit of his helm.

At his side, the warrior's hand flexed with eager impatience before coming again to stillness.

... Then Gabriel followed after Ashara, several steps behind her. The 'clacking' of leather on stone announcing every one of his footsteps, accompanied by the soft rustling of brigandine beneath his brown woolen cloak. Its length trailed behind him, worn hem scarcely a few inches from the ground... one side pulled over his shoulder and left arm, the other behind his arm to bare his hand and steel.

Ser Hassan walked over toward his neice and offered her a hug with his free hand. The young child Gerrin was sticking to his side like glue. "Ashara, where is your Father I need to speak with him immediately, it is of the utmost importance." Ser Hassan appeared to be looking for something, and was ignoring Ernesto. "Damn it to the seven hells," it was rare for any one to hear Ser Hassan curse. But it appeared he was in rare form today.

Re: Gathering of the 'Hold'

Not saying anything Enesto followed Ser Hassan as he went to greet Ashara. He noted the slight on him but chose not to make something of it just yet. He simply waited impatiently as the greetings happened. Their lord had summoned them they should answer the call. As Ser Hassan spoke about seeing him he said to the space in front of him "He has all ready summoned us. He has called for his council like i just said" as he waited in the courtyhard for these pleasentires to finish.

The cursing didn't shock Ernesto as it probbably should have for he was used to far worse. "M'Lady, Perhaps the problem would be best discussed in front of our Lord. Othersise the old man here might forget the problem before it can be adressed" Old man was a strange choice of words given there was perhaps only a year between their ages. And the years had not been kind to Ernesto in anycase. "Either way it is likley best we attend to him now, or keep him waiting, your choice" He said as he started to walk off to the council chamber leaving the others behind.

Gabriel watched the exchange between knights mutely, his featureless great helm slowly swiveling between the pair as they alternately ignored and insulted each other. The warrior said nothing of the apparent bad blood between the two knights, instead remaining vigilantly and silently out of the way but within reach of Ashara.

When the wagon finally brings up the rear of the column and parks in it's usual place near the stables Maester Archibald helps the stretcher bearers move the much recovered, but still mute, man onto the stretcher and sends the off in the direction of the infirmary with strict instructions to not leave the man alone.

Only then does he join the group exchanging greetings in the courtyard to address Ashara.  ”We should indeed speak to your Lord Father soon, there is much to discuss, do you know if our advance message was received in time?”

Godfrey gets his bearing together as there are some many in the courtyard and a few he does not recognize "Yes Bother I will gather some men and go back, I will also continue searching along the way back home and see if I can find more clues to this 'Bandit' mystery. Allow perhaps two from the 'Raven's Claws' to stay and protect you and the rest I will put on patrol between here and the north so your travels stay clear of trouble."

Godsfrey gives a few quick good byes to the Lords, and Ladies of the house and excuses himself as he begins to give orders to the men to prepare to leave at first light tomorrow.

Godfrey was hoping to see King's Landing but unfortunately someone needs to stay behind and make sure these 'Bandits' stay in check.

His possible relations with the ladies will have to wait.

Re: Gathering of the 'Hold'

As everyone invited makes their way to the council room, many notice not all the normal faces are here, .....

Lady Tansa sits in her usual spot in the center of the table, facing the window. Lord Perros seems to enjoy pacing the room and normally listens at the window and talks from there or walks the table, he rarely sits at the table.

Archibald, Makarios also have their favorite spots, and his sons sit to their mothers left closest to the Lords chair, and his daughters to their mothers right. The rest of the chairs are left to the others and they face the door or fireplace.

The table is filled with breads, fruits, and cheeses and the servants are ready with wine for those interested.

The room has a shield with the family crest and to swords crossing over the fireplace, and the walls without the window are cover with tapestries depicting battles of the Kowlyn family.

To the right and left of the fireplace are portraits of pass Lord of Kowlyn.

Gabriel has no place at the Kolwyn's household table, his purpose here being one of a bodyguard rather than a family member or confidant. So instead he stood against the wall of the hall, maintaining his distance in a manner that seemed suitably respectful. Occasionally he glanced in Ashara's direction, though he was quick to send his eyes elsewhere - particularly if noticed.

He looked first to Ashara, then to Lord Perros, and finally to Ser Ravenhowe... His steel-clad gaze locking immediately onto the cause of the girl's distress. Finding it, and realizing its nature, the Raindrop Knight's stance shifted restlessly - shoulders rotating and hands stretching shod in plate clenching and unclenching at his side.

He risked one last glance in Ashara's direction, pale green eyes sympathetic through the veil of his helm.

The Raindrop Knight stirred from his place of abject silence, taking two steps away from the wall where he stood: leather booted footsteps echoing through the nearly empty hall. His ragged brown cloak followed behind, frayed threadbare end a ghost of a few inches from the floor. The warrior turned on his heel, coming to face Lord Perros before he took a knee with a soft clattering of steel brigandine and rustling of leather. To those who would remember Adelais Laurent, a knight who had served House Kolwyn a decade hence, this young man now looked a specter: the shadow of a dead man, come again to their halls.

The Raindrop Knight bowed his head, dipping it low in respect as the violet horsehair that crowned his helm shifted to hang partially in front of his visor. "Lord, I would not forget my duties..." His voice sounded young. Soft, perhaps a bit softer than a man's ought to be.

One arm went out before him, steel-shod knuckles bending to a fist as they pressed into the ground at the end of an outstretched arm: supporting his weight as he bowed in deference.

"... But if it pleases you, I should like to fight for House Kolwyn as well. I have participated in several tourneys, and I have never quit the field or shamed myself." Gabriel claimed, eyes on the stone-cut floor. "I will not shame you now. This I swear, by the Old Gods and New."

And getting yourself killed unjustly will bring shame upon the house. Take my advise boy, until your willing to get a little muck under your helm leave the prizes to the men"

He quickly turned to adress Lord Perros. before the boy had time to respond. even talking over him if he would have. "If it keeps the boy in a saddle for a little longer i will ride in his stead. and give a true display of the houses power. after all i have a reputation to uphold. and its been some time since i was after torney gold. and i don't fancy bringing a corpse back either."

With the distrust often leveled his way by Lady Tansa, he'd been subject to unkind words and mockery before in the Kolwyn Household. Through it all though, Gabriel had remained stalwart and accepted the abuse. He did so now: not stirring from his knee, outstretched fist still and head still bowed low... Waiting... waiting for some answer from Lord Perros. To be rewarded with an opportunity for his diligence. Or for the other shoe to fall.

His fist tightened in front of him, steel-clad fingers digging into the leather across his palm with biting intensity. They had defended him, but said nothing of his request. The Raindrop Knight's head perked up when Ashara spoke a second time, her voice tinged with evident sorrow... and when he saw her stand to leave, her guardian did too.

Gabriel stood stiffly, his brown woolen cloak trailed behind - its broached mantle at the Raindrop Knight's neck rustling with the movement. His seagreen eyes returned to Ashara from the floor: holding both thankfulness for her kind words and concern for her sorrow.

Ser Ernesto grew slightly angry. he did not enjoy being chastised for the truth. He simply waited though for his temper to go. it only took a few seconds as he knew exactly where he was and that it wasn’t good to be so wound up here. Ser Ernesto stood and walked over to the Raindrop Knight. To show his actual sincerity he offered his hand.

"I apologise i did not mean to speak out of turn" he said to Gabriel "I merely meant to suggest that the best fighters in the six kingdoms and Dorne will be attending the Wedding celebrations for the chance to fight in front of people  of such great station. Given you are unproven in this way it might be unwise to enter. However i am willing to be proved wrong." he paused to think "Perhaps with our lieges blessing we could spar for the honour of representing the house, this will leave no question as to who the gods favour in the tourney"

"I would be honored." Gabriel replied laconically but sincerely, as sparing of his words as he always was. The boy said little, Ernesto would have noticed, being the sort to observe rather than interject.

"I will be in the practice yard this eve." Gabriel offered to Ser Ernesto. The subtext being clear, even through the placidity of Gabriel's speech: meet me in the practice yard tonight, if you would like to spar.

Then, upon Ashara's dismissal, the bodyguard followed faithfully after his charge.

"I understand, father." Ashara says softly. In truth she did not understand at all; to insult her own sister just to curry favor with some northern invader! How could her father even consider it? But she is a dutiful daughter, and nods and smiles sweetly. "By your leave, then, my lord father." Ashara leaves the room unhurriedly, with no trace on her face of distress or unhappiness.
Once she is out of sight of the others (except Gabriel) she dashes off to find Jadis.

Ashara hugs Jadis tightly when she finds her, bursting into tears. "Oh Jadis, Jadis! I'm so sorry! I'll be miserable without you. I'll write you, I promise!" She breaks the hug and smiles at her sister through her tears, putting her hands on Jadis' shoulders. "Be good while I'm away, okay, sis?"

Fatimah's face turns red when he emphasizes her lateness. While gathering a her dignity the conversation of course moves on. When the first opening to speak happens She opens her mouth to speak, and then shuts it when she realizes she wasn't quite sure of every detail when since she didn't arrive on time, and has to put together what she thinks was probably met. The second opening is when she finally speaks, "I believe it would be best if I joined the group heading to King's Landing. While I'm sure I'll be judged for taking up arms, I still think it would be a good idea to show them how one can be a Lady, even if she wields a blade when needed." She doesn't realize it before she finishes, but her recent bout of lateness doesn't speak well for her being that example.

Lord Perros, smiles "Yes Lady Fatimah you will show the north that our woman are just as dangerous as are men, and that House Ravenhowe and House Kolwyn, stand as one both in court and in the field. I'm glad you will be with us."

Lady Tansa slightly tilts head to one side looking at Lady Fatimah as if measuring her worth like a warrior on the battle field, except her field is this table. She says nothing just grins at her, she well knows her husband is not interested just being courteous, but she is known to remind women of this.

Lord Perros now sits, ....
"Their is one last important thing to discuss before we leave and ready the house. Lord Garin Kaldor has gone to The Reach to discuss a trade agreement with House Ashfield and their banner houses. I have agreed, ... as requested by the House Martells and ordered by our future King. We are to establish a trade route. I have position us to be key to this trade agreement. I am tired of being just short of the true Glory this house is entitled too. Unfortunately it means that we will be taking away from our fellow Dornish Lords - Garin will negotiate a route through the Pass and to our coast, House Steiner and House Chiffon are attempting to do the same. If Lord Garin is successful we will finalize this in Kings Landing. I'm sure they will not be happy with this and so we must think and be extra carful about how we handle our affairs with our Dornish Bothers in the next for months."

Re: Gathering of the 'Hold'

Bron walked into the courtyard, his meager possessions in a sack over his shoulder. He was glad he found better furs-the bear skin he had from the north was far too hot. He had exchanged it for a desert cat native to Dorne. Much easier to deal with due to the heat. It was one of the useful traits of Dorne. Nobody wore metal armor very long-they would just end up passing out.

That being said-cold was Bron's native environment. He had managed to move through the brutal north with little more than summer clothes. Yet his path had led him south-far, far south. From there-it had led him to cross Lady Ashara's path. Granted, he was basically one of the free folk-he had lived among them for a while. He had to leave them-those he hunted had left the north.

So, he was now working for House Kolwyn. Given what had happened with the Lady, he was certain to gain good work for fair money. Hells, he could have just worked in the stables and he had no doubt the Lord Kolwyn would overpay him a stablehand's wages. After all, Bron had saved the heir to the house not five years ago.

So-now he had come to get some steady coin for steady work. It seemed very little to ask for, and having the favor of a Noble House never hurt. As long as he did not abuse it.

However, that might be a problem. Even as he walked into the courtyard, he could see the effect he was having on people. Guards watched him-very carefully. Their hands drifted to their hilts. Women moved between him and their children, as if he would somehow lash out at them. The same children hid their faces in the mother's skirts.

And why? Bron had never been sure. Yes, he was strong and well built-but not overly tall. He was no romantic figure, but nor was he monstrous. Yet the fear he caused in almost everyone was telling. Truth be told, it came in handy when he needed people to get out of his way-or to get them to back down. Despite that-he could never make any sort of impression on anyone without fear.

Expect for a select few of course. The lady had been one of them. Bron supposed when you are a prisoner on a pirate vessel, anyone willing to help you becomes much more tolerable...

Gabriel Laurent was one of these sundry knights - though his hands were idle, rather than fitting a saddle or packing a rucksack. He, like the other guards of House Kolwyn, seemed to make note of the Northman as soon as he stepped into the courtyard. Quietly, the Raindrop Knight's helm rose, peering in the newcomer's direction from where he stood opposite Ashara and Jadis. Far enough to give the two the privacy their bitter parting desired, to be sure. Still, he had noticed the Northerner's interest almost immediately... And his gaze did not long linger elsewhere before drifting back to Bron.

This warrior's hand made no move to his hilt, however. If he regarded Bron with concern for long it was lost just as quickly. Instead of standing on his toes, prickly with anticipation, the brigandine-armored man waved the Northerner over to where he stood.

He raised an eyebrow, and smirked. "It seems sorta cruel they make you wear all that metal in this heat. That helmet must be the worst." He tried to sound causal, but he knew everyone took everything he said as dangerous and hostile. It did not matter what he said. Mere greetings where misread as some sort of passive-hostility. Only the Lady seemed immune...

At the boarders merchants form The Reach will finish the journey of the goods to their locations north, anything headed south will be in the hands of our Dorne brothers and traded by our own merchants south, this way they do not learn the Dornish countryside and the secrets of the 'Pass' but both sides benefit with gold and trade. Once the goods are in Dorne one major trade route will be east to our lands and to our coasts. Now our ships can continue the trade east of even along the coast north as far as we want to take them. The Raindrop Knight was inscrutable behind that helm of his, seagreen eyes betraying nothing. He stood much shorter than the Northman, however, and the warrior was forced to look up to regard Bron. Without a face to read, the Northerner would have to interpret his stance if he wanted to know Laurent's mind.

Luckily, that was not difficult: he stood ready and fluid, lacking the stiffness of a nervous man - still though, there was no doubt, the Raindrop Knight seemed wary. Like a fox that had caught the distant scent of a wolf. Canny and on guard, but unafraid. His hand hovered near his sheath along his belt, under the pretense of resting on his belt. Something he made little effort to hide.

"Aye, it can be hot." Gabriel admitted, his youthful voice laconic as always. "But it was my choice." The Southron assured, his eyes slowly rolling over the newcomer and his cruel-looking spear. Measuring scrutinizingly. They caught on Bron's smirk, narrowing suspiciously. Those fingers danced closer along his belt, headed for Cloudbreaker's hilt.

"But who -" Gabriel began, before Ashara arrived. Something that alarmed the warrior at first... Having his charge so near an unknown man carrying a spear screamed danger to Gabriel, and for the first time his eyes widened in concern. Though, when Lady Ashara called out the foreigner's name, he seemed to soften in sudden realization: hand straying from his side to cross over his chest, eyes grown less accusatory. That Bron offered him his hand now elicited an immediate clasping of hands. Gabriel gripped the Northerner's with his own steel-girded fingers, hesitation absent entirely.

"A friend of the Lady's is a friend of mine." Gabriel replied.

"A friend of the Lady's is a friend of mine." Gabriel replied.

"Excellent lad!" Bron said, and pat the knight on his back. Ashara would recall his lack of knowledge about the majority of the forms of courtly manners. Bron was just happy someone even claimed to be a friend. "We should go drinking later when your duties allow!"

When Ashara claimed he was more then a friend, he chuckled. "I told your lord father you are perfectly safe with me...for now." He shrugged. "In the future...who knows?" He winked and Ashara, enjoying teasing her, but that was all there was to it.

Truth be told she had been the only woman he had spoken to who had not shaken in fear. As a result Bron could not even want to be around ladies of the evening-as they looked at him as a brute and monster. Once he even paid one to just talk to him-and wished he had not. She basically said whatever he asked her, and barley kept control of her fear.

As Fatimah walked out into the court yard, he blinked. "Is that a woman in armor...in the south no less!? Oi! Lassie! Come over here!" He waved at her. "I am a close personal friend of the Lady Ashara! What's your name!?" He gestured to Ashara, as proof he was not some local brute. While he expected no less of a reaction from Fatimah as he got from most women...or men...he hoped Ashara's presence would keep the fear at bay.

"A drink," Gabriel nodded agreeably as the Northman patted his back and the threadbare cloth cloak covering it "I would like that." His stance seemed relaxed now, not on edge as it had been a moment before. The warrior said nothing of Lady Ashara's accidentally suggestive comment, though his eyes did trace a quick and questioning path between the two as Bron made his jest.

Of course there wasn't time to say much of anything at all, before the Northerner called over Lady Fatimah. The Raindrop Knight looked her way, briefly, before offering a nod of respect and turning back to his charge. "Lady Ashara, I ought prepare for the road. I promised Ser Ernesto a bout, before we depart." Gabriel suggested.

"By your leave?" He requested. Now, when Ashara was in the company of Fatimah and an apparently very capable old friend, was as good a time for Gabriel to allow himself to be distracted by preparations. She would be safe with them.

If so permitted, Gabriel would begin to pack his saddlebag and other belongings for the road. Including a tourney lance of timber, painted in twisting patterns of violet and silver that ran round the lance's shaft like a barber's pole.

Then, when evening came, he would find Ser Ernesto in the training yard. So that they could have their match, prior to departing.

OOC: I have more plans for Gabriel, once on the road. Specifically him visiting his father's grave when they pass near.

Ashara giggles. “I’m a highborn maiden. Saying things simply is for commoners” she jokes in a mock-haughty tone, sounding as imperious as a princess.
She smiles at Fatima. She was quite fond of her cousin even though she found her habits unusual. "Coz, it's good to see you. This is Bron Snow, he hails all the way from the North. Bron, Fatima has been trained as a fighter by my uncle, and is a fine fighter."
"Fatima, you exaggerate" she chides softly at Fatima's comment that women in armor are nearly as common as men in Dorne.
"Really, all soldiers? Do you have a great deal of wars?" she asks, surprised, when Bron proclaimed that all the Free Folk were fighters. It seemed strange, but then Beyond the Wall was so far away, they probably had many strange customs. At least Bron wasn’t shocked by Fatima like the people of the Six Kingdoms would probably be.
"Of course we wear dresses. They're modest, elegant and lovely, perfect for ladies" she replies. She twirls about for a moment, letting her skirts swirl about her to demonstrate.
"I can hunt in a dress. Anyways, they aren't designed for fighting. They're designed for everyday living, and for looking beautiful. I doubt any of your wild girls look half so lovely as myself right now, or lady Fatima when she gets dressed up.” She smiled teasingly at Bron. “Can you deny that?”
She blushes brightly when Bron mentions that she can't swim in her dress, remembering wearing her torn dress. “Th-that’s true, I c-couldn’t swim in it” she stammers, suddenly shy.
When Bron rescued her, she’d been mostly concerned with escaping with her life, though she’d squeaked a bit in surprise when he ripped her dress. It wasn’t until they got to land that she had time realize how immodest she looked in her torn, soaked dress.
She swats Bron's hand as he pokes her dress. “Whatever your opinion on my dress, I’m certainly not taking off my skirt" she says, her confidence and teasing smile returning.

Re: Gathering of the 'Hold'

Before leaving Ser Hassan had Gerrin tell his story to Lord Perros, and everything that went with it, as well as insuring the others who had evidence had it be heard. Once he had ensured everything was done that needed to be. He left the keep to begin training the boy who would hopefully one day become a knight. "Come now Gerrin." It was shortly after that Hassan had stepped out of the keep, he was wearing his bronzed scale armor, the scales on his chest had accents of Purple Enamling, as well as Raven upon it, using the scales expertly to represent the rampant bird's feather patterns. On his head was a helmet that was tipped in a small spike and wrapped with a purple and black sash around it, his face was drapped with chainmail obscuring most of it. From a cultural stand point his armor was traditional dornish. Clipped to his armor and flowing behind him was a very light cloak. He began to make the prepartions they needed and tied his helmet off to his saddle. He looked over at Ashara and the northman, "Poors Bastard will be red as a lobster before the day is through," he said to himself quietly. Northerners were always burnt by the harsh dornish sun. When he approached his brother Godfrey the two shook hands, they spoke for some time but the only thing that was picked out from it was a foreign tongue, Ashara had heard her Uncle say these words many times and in the common tongue, they meant "Peace be Upon you," he had told her these words were Rhoynish. But as there was no time like the present. Using what time they had they saw the older knight take the small boy aside and like many young pages before him, he began to tell him what it meant to be a knight.

Okay, so I exaggerate a little. Fatimah admits. Dresses certainly aren't practical They certainly look lovely and turn heads, and a lot of times looking pretty is more important than carrying a sword. Fatimah says performing a little spin and a faux curtsy. They tend to frown upon dressing for battle during a party.

Ashara giggles as Fatimah spins around. "Exactly. Fighting has its place-" she tosses up one of her throwing knives and catches it to emphasize "-but charm and beauty can be just as effective. Plus they are much less messy. Good thing, too, blood would ruin this dress."  Although Ashara knew a bit about ranged weapons, she was no fighter herself.
"Dressed up properly you're a vision, cos. Remember to use that" she says with a smile. The company of her cousin and friend is starting to cheer her up.
She waves to her uncle.

Ashara giggles at the incongruity of the ultra-tough and intimidating Bron pretending she had hurt him.
She rolls her eyes at him. "Elegance, modesty and loveliness become women more than men, Bron. A man in a dress would look ridiculous."
She giggles at his theory. "So you think ancient men made dresses to make us pretty to look at and unable to avoid them? That would have been cleverly done. But I doubt a man could have invented them, there is something so perfectly feminine about them."
She smiles at their joking. "Thank you both, I needed something to cheer me a bit."

As the two younger ladies and Bron spoke with one another they saw Lady Aislin, Lord Kolwyn's sister, and Wife to Hassan step out and into the court yard. She was dressed this day in an Orange gown of house Kolwyn's colors, with the broach of an owl over her silken head dress. She approached the group holding the hand of a two year old boy, her son Rashid who was dressed in light linen of purple, the young boy seemed interested in picking up handfuls of sand before throwing them to the ground. She had the bags under her eyes of a busy mother, but there was always a smile on her face as she looked to her daughter Fatimah and her Niece Ashara. How ever when she lay her eyes upon the foreigner they narrowed quickly. "I trust you ladies are enjoying your selves?" she asked in a very pleasant voice.

"Bron!" Ashara responds to his joke, sounding scandalized. She nods in agreement when he talks about King’s Landing. “I know King’s Landing will be dangerous. I wish I had Jadis with me, she was always good at watching out for me. Gabriel should be able to protect me, though.”
"Aunt Aislin, wonderful to see you!" Ashara sings out, smiling brightly at her aunt. She is very fond of her aunt and loves spending time with her. "And you too, my lord" she adds to Rashid. "Yes, Fatima and I were just chatting about fashion, and our upcoming trip to King's Landing"
Ashara checks her face for a moment to wipe what remained of her tears. Her aunt was clearly very busy, and she doesn't want to burden Lady Aislin with her cares.
"Is there anything I can do to assist you, aunt Aislin? I want you to be as comfortable here as possible, you are family!" she asks sympathetically.
"This is Bron Snow. He comes all the way from the North." she introduces Bron, noticing Aislin's suspicious look at him. “He saved my life”

Aislin's brow cocked as Ashara made her offer, "Actually, yes." It was then that lady Aislin scooped Rashid off the ground into her arms and handed her to Ashara, "Please by the seven take this one off my hands for an hour, it's been years since I've gotten a moment to myself." She was obviously speaking in jest, but Ashara and especially Fatimah knew how much of a handful Aislin's children were. "So tell me my love," she spoke to Fatimah. "Are you going to play with the Boys in King's landing and compete in the tourney? I'm sure your father will. Against better judgment, still feels he has something to prove I suppose. " Looking at Ashara she smiled at her, "Though I did always enjoy watching him joust." She almost sounded like a young girl again when she spoke, looking over to Hassan he was leading some of the squires of te house with their knights through various drills. "First time I met him he was jousting, and he asked for my favor. He wouldn't admit it but I think he still carries that old scrap of orange silk"

Re: Gathering of the 'Hold'

Strohan paused from his patrol on the docks for a moment. Setting his shield down and leaning his long axe against a barrel he took his helmet off. The slight breeze coming off the sea wasn't enough to cool him off but it helped as he wiped his head. He could taste salt with every breath he took, salt and sand.

Licking his lips and looked up at the boat he was sent to watch. A ship ment for trade, not war. He couldn't wait to get in out of the sun but for the time being he had a job to do and was not one to complain. He set the helm down and picked up his shield. A shield that a normal man would be able to hide behind but Strohan was not a normal sized man. He reached out and gripping his long axe with the other hand turning to begin his patrol of the dock one more time.

As he walked it seemed that less people stared at him. He had been here for a few days and those that worked the docks had come to expect him to be there. This wasn't the case the first two days. At that time he would walk the dock and those working would stop and stare or stumble to avoid his path. Strohan was used to that so he just went on doing the task he was sent to do. He wasn't the kind of man to bully others just because he was so large, in truth he didn't think much of those around him to bother trying to scare anyone. He knew his abilities and he saw no reason to flex his strength to impress others.

The color was striking against the deep caramel tone of her skin. Her dark eyes squinted as she looked, and her smile made her look delighted to see him. "Your Stroham Storm?" Her voice was heavily accented and she appeared to stumble over grammar, but she didn't appear to be concerned by either. The wind picked up momentarily, blowing the fabric taught across her body and causing her dark hair to stream across her face. She pulled her hair away from her face but did nothing for her dress, completely at ease.

He wasn't sure of the status of this beautiful lady but surely to dress with such elegance she had to be high born. The breeze allowed the dress to shape her body and Strohan quickly realized that before him stood a woman who demanded respect, her confidence was impressive. She did not stand timid or affraid in his presence and it was clear she had an aura about her that even Strohan had to admire.

Bron grinned at Ashara's scolding, hoping that her aunt had not caught what he had said. He gave an awkward bow to Aislin, seeing the suspicion and hostility upon her face. Not much of a surprise really-it was just the sort of attention he drew. Here, North, and even North of the wall.

His body language and appearance gave off an threatening reaction most found very disturbing-especially children. As a result, he moved so the small child would not be facing him, in this case behind Ashara by a step. It also kept her between him and Aislin, which was good. He had little doubt the lady would like to see him vanish.

"A pleasure, my Lady." He said, trying to sound proper. Of course it would not. Coming from him-it doubtlessly sounded like some sort of veiled threat.

"It please me to meet you, I am called Cyra Vyraes," she said, giving him an extra warm smile. "I come from little ship you guard.... expertly." She had paused to select the correct word from her limited arsenal of Westerosi words. "I am told you would finish guard soon, and you to escort me to Kolwey Keep. Good Lord and Lady Kolwey have asked." Behind her were two dock workers loading a pleasant-looking wagon with chests, which were probably Cyra's belongings. Beside the wagon stood two people who looked similarly strange in Dorne: one was a rapscallion of a man wearing ringmail and an arakh at his belt, and the other was a woman about Cyra's age, who wore a slightly less styled dress compared to Cyra, who pretended to detest everything around her. Both had a similar, exotic, Essos look to them.

'I am charmed by your company," she said. There was a lot to like about Westerosi manners, Cyra decided and not for the first time, since they were either unfashionably polite or so rude they were one wrong word away from drawing swords. The quality made it easy to determine where one stood. Stroham was also a man that stuck her as having little fear without coming off arrogant. It was a combination she liked as much as she liked the manners in Westeros.

As Strohan spoke the man came up nodding and announcing himself as Strohans replacement.

"It seems that I'm yours now"

Strohan nodded to the man approaching and steps over so that Cyra could lead the way. He was sure the heat would make him less the appealing to be to close to so he kept his distance without appearing anti social. He wanted to be close enough to keep Cyra safe, after all he was sure that was all he was needed for from the Docks to the Keep.

When the replacement arrived, Cyra turned to the two from the wagon, now filled, and spoke in Myrish. "Blue Beard, Niq, please bring up the wagon. I will walk with this gentleman."

Dio Diosanta nodded and stroked his blue beard, responding in an even heavier accent than Cyra's own in Myrish, "Aye, Little Plum, I'll keep an eye on him from behind, make sure he does not give you shit."

Cyra chuckled and shook her head. "Ah, pirates."

Dio Dio gave a deep-throated laugh. "It's what you pay me for."

He jumped easily onto the wagon and gave a hand to the other woman as Cyra turned back to Stroham. She approached him and looped her hand around his sword-arm and winked. "I said escort, did I not?" she said playfully, switching back to her less-fluent Westerosi, "We walk and talk. Tell me of Dorne, Stroham. It has been year last I see her. How is peace?" It was unavoidable that she noticed the smell of a man who has been in his armor all day, but she did not seem to mind; he was guarding her shipment, and now her, after all. No, in fact she was practically beaming at feeling the sun and the winds as if they were the finest wines and cheeses made to be savored. She didn't walk quickly and there were moments when she would press her hand gently into Stroham's arm as if to balance herself.

OOC: We can keep the conversation short to get to the Keep and/or do a time jump as per Caladin's request. It wouldn't be in Cyra's idiom to walk without chatting.

Re: Gathering of the 'Hold'

Strohan was a little taken back as Cyra slid her arm under his. For a moment he wondered what others might think as they walked, this was a beautiful lady on his arm and often that lead to others talking, and then all to often people talking lead to people saying the wrong thing, and then people saying the wrong thing often lead to Strohan being put in bad place. None the less he couldn't hide the fact that it did make him feel good to have such a exotic creature on his side.

"I can't think of to many places I would not be honored to escort you. I must warn you, these long legs don't cover as much ground as some might think. At least not when they have a reason to be slow."

He gave her a grin, to assure you he ment to offense.

"I have not been in Dorne for long. Until recently I found myself spending a great deal of time in The Reach along the boarder of Dorne."

He didn't want to go into detail about what it was he had been doing. Mainly because he wasn't the sort to boast about taking the lives of so many men. Bragging was never something he needed to do. His reputation in some areas was enough, helping it travel wasn't something he favored. Also he was sure that she was not the sort to enjoy a story of blood and carnage on a battlefield.

"I've heard word of a trip to Kingslanding, and I've never been that far north, but then again until now I had never been this far south. Sadly I wouldn't be surprised if your travels had taken you to much more of Westeroes then I have been."

As the two walked Strohan did his best to not come across awkward in their conversation. He wanted to set her at ease and she was extremely pleasant to walk with.

OOC:We can fast travel unless Cyra has something to say. I'm good.. lol if she responds I will more than likely keep talking so might be better to fast travel.

The trip back to Kolwyn Hold is a few short 2 miles from the hamlet, the 'Hold' is both impressive too both look at and be in. Along the way it's also very beautiful, the landscape it not just sand and weeds, in fact almost the opposite. Wild flowers bloom along the road and near trees or under their shade.

The gate is open and the Hold looks veryy busy, wagons are being loaded and warrior are preparing their things. As Shrohan and Cyra passes the gate several Kolwyn family members are many other have flooded the courtyard.

Many just stare as the Lady Kolwyn approaches her newest Steward.

Re: Gathering of the 'Hold'

"I am glad. Leaves leisure for conversation. I must practice my Westerosi on you." She squeezed his arm lightly to show she was pleased rather than offended. "I have been to Reach and Dorne, never King Landing. Do we travel for royal wedding? I hear rumor." The idea of attending the royal wedding so soon after her arrival made Cyra want to purr; her sister would be jealous and it sounded like nothing less than an adventure. Not to mention there would be great business opportunities there. What could be better?

"We see similar place. That explain why I not see you last I here. You are hard man to miss. Where you at Reach for the war? Oh." she paused and glanced up to the sky as if remembering something humorous, then looked at Stroham again curiously. "Is 'That explain' or 'that explains'? I never know."

Cyra hardly noticed the distance as they continued to speak, and before she knew it the Keep was before her eyes. It was the scent of the wildflowers that brought her back to her surroundings, and somehow even with the busy courtyard it seemed less ominous and serious than when conflict was closer. For those few minutes at seeing and entering the gates Cyra did not speak; instead she looked around to soak in all of the colors and smells and noises.

At the sight of Lady Kolwyn, Cyra's face lit up as though she had spotted an old friend. She gave Stroham a squeeze and look of thanks before closing the distance between herself and Tansa. She curtsied for the Westerosi greeting and lightly kissed the lady on both cheeks in the proper Myrish greeting and said, "Valar morghulis Lady Kolwyn. You look radiant as ever! It is gift to see you again."

OOC: I'm going to assume that Stroham and Cyra still chatted between those two points, it's just not all written out. :D

The walk was nice and Cyra seemed interesting to say the least but he knew his place and wasn''t about to approach the Lady of the house. He was told he would be escorting Cyra to the Keep and he had done just that, both her and her belongings were in good hands now.

Stepping aside so that wagon and her chest could move forward Strohan wondered if he would ever find himself across the sea. He had heard stories about great warriors being trianed there. Looking down axe and then at his shield we grinned to himself. To think that his training was simple and basic yet he was able to handle his share, at least as of now he we sure there were others out there better than himself but he hadn't found any of them yet. Perhaps in Kingslanding there might be someone up to the task.

Strohan came back from his thoughts as Cyra opened her mouth and spoke. The tounge of the free cities rolled out like sweet honey but Strohan had no idea what she had said.

"Please excuse me, aunt Aislin, my lord Rashid. My lady mother needs me." Ashara says when her mother calls her over. She turns Rashid back over to his mother for the time being before heading to join her mother Lady Tansa.
Ashara curtsies formally to Cyra as she's introduced. "Wonderful to meet you, Cyra. I'm sure your service will benefit both our families. I'm think you and I will get along very well" she says pleasantly. She nodded in agreement to when her mother complimented the wares they had seen together.

Bron grinned as he suddenly became invisible to the ladies. He rather got the idea the lady Aislin would rather not him be around. Besides, there would be other chances to catch up with Ashara. Even Fatimah seemed drawn away by her mother. It did not bother Bron. Any conversation that ended without threats and calls to the guards he considered a success. In the meantime, there had to be an inn where he could pass the time. He gave a glacé skyward, and a large black eagle looked down at him from the top of the walls. He nodded at it, and the animal proceeded to fly off. Still in view of him, but far out of any errant hunters bow...

In reply to Bron Snow (msg # 107):

Looking around briefly it was rather easy for the Snow to find an adequate Inn in which to spend his time. There were several knights off in the corner, some of them men, from the newly arrived House Ravenhowe, others were from House Kolwyn and there were even a Hedge Knight among their numbers, that is if Bron could read the Heraldy of their shields which were lain next to them leaning against the table. It seemed by the conversation they were playing the game Cyvasse from Essos and trying to learn it.

Across the room were the serving girls who were talking to various merchants who were passing through, it seemed one of the merchants who had taken to the drink early was trying to convince the young woman to come with him and that he would make her life "magical".

It was then that a plump Dornishman with a big beard addressed him, "What can I do for you?" he was obviously the innkeeper seeing how he was behind the bar. "Food? Drink?" There was some cheering over by the table of knights as it seemed some one had won the game, and a new one started.

Re: Gathering of the 'Hold'

Cyra looked pleased that Maester Archibald knew the proper response to the traditional Myrish greeting, and she nodded in thanks to his courtesies. "You are kind, Maester. I afraid I not heard of departure for King Landing until good Strohan tell me." She gestures with an open palm to Strohan when she mentioned him. "If it not bother, the horses use watering and maid Niq could go ahead with belongings. I see hold is," she paused and searched for the right word, "vibrant." It probably wasn't the right word, but it was the best one that came to Cyra's mind.

At the introduction to Ashara, Cyra came forward and greeted her in the same manner that she greeted Ashara's mother: with a kiss on each cheek. It was close enough to tell that she smelt of cinnamon and jasmine. "I see beauty poise comes in family, Ashara. I happy we get to know each other! I hope to be benefit to both family."

Turning back to Lady Tansa, Cyra continued, "The trip was less eventful, more pleasant. No storm, pirates avoid. Glad we here at last." At the praise the lady gave of the silk and lace, Cyra looked as though two spring festivals were announced, not just one. "Excellent! I so pleased you like. Has Lord Kolwyn yet see my Warrsilks? Perhaps a demonstration of if he not see. Good under armor." She glanced at the organized chaos of the courtyard before amending her suggestion. "Perhaps demonstration in King Landing. Good advertise for trade."

When Cyra notes the hold can be "vibrant" Ashara nods and replies "It can certainly get exciting around here." Especially with Jadis to look after.

Ashara is a bit surprised by Cyra's greeting, but smiles at her. " Thank you for the compliments, Cyra. I'm sorry to make you travel to King's Landing when you just got here. But I'm glad to hear your trip was pleasant. Excited to see King’s Landing?"
"I suspect I wear your silk..." Ashara muses.

Re: Gathering of the 'Hold'

Strohan didn't always sit well when among nobles. Doing his best he began to step away to give the ladies the space they needed to do their meet and greet. Stepping away he allowed himself to consider Kings Landing and what might be there that would take his employer that distance away from thier homes.

Coin he thought was most likely the reason, often it was his reason for doing anything. Getting by often left a gray area for moral choices. Then again he hadn't been here as long as he had been other places and he was learning new ways every day so perhaps he was wrong.

He considered checking on his horse and wagon. He hadn't been over to feed the animal all day so it was about time to do just that.

OOC: Strohan is going to head to take care of his belongings until called upon for the trip ~ That is unless something comes up between here and there

Re: Gathering of the 'Hold'

"Not all. Eu, not at all. I am delighted to see capital. Travel make me feel alive," Cyra continued with as much enthusiasm as ever written on her face, but at Ashara's statement on her Myrish silk Cyra's dark eyes lit up. She took a step back to fully admire the lady's gown. She found it nothing shy of fascinating what her own fabrics looked like in Westerosi style. "Beautiful," she said and moved forward again to touch Ashara's arm, "It is comfortable, yes?" It was a question asked with genuine concern. The family's silk was one of Cyra's fierce prides, and in Myr clothing was only as good as it was comfortable: not necessarily practical, but it must be wearable.

When Maester Archibald returned his attention to the group, Cyra nodded her head in thanks, "I remember Dorne for great hospitality. You are kind. How soon to depart?"

Behind her the pirate Dio Dio stood at ease a few paces behind Cyra and didn't seem all too interested in the conversation at hand.

Ashara is nearly as enthusiastic about her fashions as Cyra is. She twirls about as Cyra inspects her dress, showing it off and letting her skirts swirl around her. She then poses as though for a formal inspection and smiles at Cyra when she says the dress is beautiful. "Yes, comfortable enough. I love it!" she says enthusiastically.

Ser ewrnesto met his foe in the sparring ring. He liked it here. Here everyone was an equa. Here no one had false status to hide behind. Here things were more real to him. He took a few steps around to feel the well known terrain before turning to his opponent "you know you can still back out, I will not call that cowardice, it is smart to know when you are beaten, as I will not pull my blows or allow you to strike me." while waiting for a response he donned his shield and grabbed the long spear. as he braced for the charge.

Re: Gathering of the 'Hold' (Sparring Match)

In reply to Ser Ernesto Riquez (msg # 116):

"That is well Ser," Gabriel returned, shield raised and practice blade poised with its blunted point towards Ernesto "What would be the point of sparring, if you held back?" He asked, rhetorically, and then fell into the steps of Ser Ernesto's dance. Slowly Gabriel's boots stepped out the circle's opposite, mirroring the knight. Positioning. Measuring. Seagreen eyes peering through his slit visor, watching the blunted spear in his opponent's hand as he might an addled viper.

Then, he stepped in, taking a few rapid but stolidly calm steps forward: shield high as he closed the gap between them.

Gabriel wasted no time, launching a quick succession of strikes at the prepared knight. The warrior's arm struck out, brigandine-covered arm rising and falling with each slashing arc of his sword. The practice blade bit into a parry there, tasted wind here with a miss, but could not bring itself to bear on Ernesto. Gabriel was quick, had always been quick, but he was armored: this man was not, and the difference in agility quickly became obvious for it.

Still: Gabriel remained focused and undeterred, eyes unerringly fixed on the man at his fore.

Re: Gathering of the 'Hold' (Sparring Match)

In reply to Gabriel Laurent (msg # 117):

With a swift leap Ser Ernesto deftly avoided each swipe against him, there was no room for here. The blade his opponent wielded might be dull but it would hurt if it struck him. He didn't mean to taunt his foe but give simple advice

"To teach the weaker you let them strike, not all are as light footed as I am. Most men such as yourself fear the pain the blade brings, and so need to dress up for the occasion in metals that sap your ability to fight. Relese that fear and the may never harm you, learning to fight against me is a far cry from learning to fight against most men"

With that Ser Ernesto closed the distance his way. He moved forward slinging the shaft of the spear upwards through his hands as he did so. The spear looked stationary for a while until he clasped again passing the left side of Gabriel and in close proximity he swiped at the straps holding the armor together, piercing through and leaving a sore looking bruise on the man underneath.

Using the force of the blow to extend his reach once more he raised his shield knelt thrusting the spear forward into the air as if preparing for a cavalry charge.

In reply to Ser Ernesto Riquez (msg # 118):

Gabriel recoiled as the spear slammed powerfully into his side, just beneath his arm where the two halves of brigandine met and laced. The blow threatened to crumple the young warrior: a brief and hushed, "Oouf..." escaped his lips along with his breath. The voice sounded young. Too young yet to belong to a man grown. Still, the Raindrop "Knight" recovered quickly - losing narry a step as his shield lowered to turn aside the spear, while the warrior simultaneously took a bold step forward in the wake of his wounding.

The movement stirred up dust and sand in the training yard, Gabriel's boots trailed a cloud of the stuff as he leapt forward: within the older man's guard, past the point of his spear. Gabriel's practice sword trailed the length of Ser Ernesto's spear, pushing it out far and to the side as he struck - blade's dulled edge bouncing from its shaft to hit crosswise into the other warrior's stomach. A heavy blow, as heavy as the one that Ernesto himself had leveled on Gabriel.

Seagreen eyes and brows of spun gold glared back at Ernesto through Gabriel's helm. Focused, but not afraid. Bold, but not angered. Gabriel's passions were tightly reined - a cold sleet to Ernesto's burning intensity.

Quietly reserved and laconic, despite how soft and youthful his voice came. "I am not those men."

"I do not fear the blade's bite." Gabriel spoke, tone assured as he raised his steel and held his blade against its edge as a brace - blunt tip pointed ahead towards the knight.

Ser ernesto leaped back with the swing from his opponant. It still caught him despite his best efforts. He felt the bruise forming where it hit. He could now see some talent inm the boy but he felt some rage build up in him from being caught off guard. "so you think you are my equal then? you think you could survive war's and battles?" he asked while panting.

He didn't wait for a responce he moved at speeds unknown to most. Ser ernesot Charged his foe moving into his space loosening the footing of his opponant from the shock. Snapping round the shaft of the spear he let it crack into the back of his opponants kneecap. A crunhing sensation followed as he felt the bone break. and as quick as that he moved off to onew side again. waiting for a reposte of some sort.

It wasn't initially he realised he had won, the fire's of combat burned inside of him and he wanted a little more action. But seeing the young man on the floor unable to stand wasn't how he realised it was over, it was when blood ran to cover the eyes that had been staring at him so much. the fall must have been a hard one.

Gabriel fell: his leg brought out from under him, pain lancing up through his thigh and down through his calf. His eyes wide, beneath the crest of his helm, as the off-balanced warrior fell back toward the dirt. He hit, with a crash. His brigandine made little sound - but that great helm of his clattered as it struck the training yard. Gabriel felt it's edge bite into his brow, felt it draw blood.... And as he pulled himself up to a seated position, saw the red run across his vision as it dripped into an eye.

An eye he closed rapidly, looking a rather ghoulish sight with one bloodied eyelid. The other, his unmarred and unbloodied eye, looked on calmly. Blue as the sea as it took in the scene: looking over his battered knee before raising it to regard Ser Ernesto. "You fight like a beast, ser." The young warrior regarded laconically, a simple statement of fact... But perhaps, more a compliment than an insult.

Gabriel grabbed hold of his sword with his left hand, propping it up with its tip to the ground - using the blade as a makeshift cane as he pulled himself upward. Gabriel struggled, refusing to lay still on the ground and bleed. His left leg responded painfully, but he felt that if any weight were put on it it might collapse. His vision swam as he stood, no doubt brought about by the impact his head had took when he fell.

"A good match." He suggested passively, before beginning to hobble away, torn brown cloak trailing behind him.

As Strohan passed by the sound of blades clashing gave him reason to pause. Approaching the action he couldn't help but notice one of the men sparing in a courtyard. The familiar look of the armour, the next thing he saw had the stranger on the ground.

Ser Ernesto Riquez:

Strohan pushed through the group of people watching. Making his way toward the downed man he stopped in his tracks as the words rolled from the victor.

Turning he rested the but of his axe down into the dirt. Shield on his back and axe in hand we weighed his thoughts for a moment. He wasn't the type to look for a fight but the idea of spectators learning a "valuable lesson" implied that he had something to teach them. It had been awhile for Strohan, perhaps he needed a one on one lesson.

"Your quite the instructor there. Perhaps you could teach me a thing or two. I'm always looking to improve my own skills..." Strohan paused. He wasn't looking for trouble but there was a part of him that wanted to defend the downed man. After all he was pretty sure he knew them. "Perhaps if this one didn't take much out of you, you have something left for another round?"

Already Strohan was second guessing himself. He didn't need problems from any locals and he wasn't even sure if this man held some sort of clout within his new friends he would be heading North with. All of that was to late now, so he slid his shield around to the front of his left arm while a few others helped his old friend up.

Tilting his head a bit he looked down at Gabriel, "You'll be fine get up"

Yes father. Fatimah says considering his words. They probably apply to her on some level. Strong and eager. Was she too eager? But you also can't be too cowardly. You need to strike when there is a chance, but you can't lunge at a false opening, and you need to do all this in the heat of battle. I have a lot to learn then.

As time passes over the next few days:
Fatimah's preparations amount to keeping up with her practice and double checking things that should be done. Drilling and sparing with whoever is willing. Going over her dresses again trying to think about their impression. Pondering how to balance the needs of making a good impression, showing what a lady of Dorne is really like and being ready for trouble. General talking with people she doesn't get to always see and asking about rumors or tall tales about what King's landing is like.

The buzz at the castle are the two ships just off the shores of Kowlyn land. One flys the colors of a Iron Island house - Saltwind and the other is unknown. Lord Kolwyn seems not to be phased at the ships, as the rest of the people are up at arms about why they are here. His focus was getting everything ready to leave to King's Landing.

As the next day approaches Lord Kolwyn tells the servants of the house that select goods and needed supplies were to be taken to the docks. Later that day he announces that the family will be traveling by ship as the rest travel by land to Blackhaven. The announcement is kept to a minimum chatter, and those that now know are told to not share this with anyone. The secret business seem to be more common with the lord and he seems to share less with those around.

When she hears Gabriel was injured, Ashara rushes to the field. She knows a bit about healing, and takes a look at her bodyguard's wounded leg. "Oh seven, Gabriel, you've been hurt!" She waves over Maester Archibald. She walks with Gabriel, offering support if he needs it to help walk, though not doing so unless he indicates she should, since she doesn't want to shame him.

The next few days were mostly spent helping her mother and father arrange things for the trip and trying to make Cyra feel welcome. Ashara had packed quickly herself. She also takes the opportunity to fuss over Gabriel a bit and make sure his leg is healing properly.

She is worried by the appearance of the Saltwind ship, as she had had a bad experience with pirates. She asks her father about them, obviously worried.

Gabriel rose first to a knee, hand steadied on his training sword, before he pushed himself up: leg unsteady beneath his weight. Laurent looked bewildered for a moment, as Strohan interceded betwixt him and Ser Ernesto. When he spoke, his voice came uncertainly "Strohan?..." There was a familiarity to the tone, one that cut through both confusion and pain. The warrior moved off, slowly, though he cast a curious glance over his brown-cloaked shoulder as he did. He fell into step with Ashara, but was grateful that she did not lend physical support. It would have been unkind to refuse such an offer, but accepting it would have made him look weak... And young men can be stubborn in matters of pride.

"It's not so terrible as it looks," Gabriel lied "Just stiff, but thank you Lady Ashara."

Still, he hung close to her, though he did not depart far. When he found somewhere to seat himself he did, turning to watch what seemed to be a second match in the making. The "Raindrop Knight" seemed to know this stranger, and also seemed passingly worried over the outcome. If the nervous way his thumb worked at the pommel of his practice blade was any sign.

Gabriel spent the next days preparing for the journey. Going easy on his leg. Ensuring his equipment was in order for the tourney. The sort of preparations one would expect a warrior to undergo prior to a tournament. He considered visiting his home at Watchman's Point before the voyage, but ruled it out. He was short time enough as it was to prepare. No time for sentimentalities.

No matter the outcome of Strohan's bout, he also found the other man and spoke with him. Talking about old times and shared experiences. Gabriel seemed to consider him an older brother of sorts, in a way.

Re: Gathering of the 'Hold'

Ser Ernesto Stopped and looked the man up and down. In side of himself he knew he wouldn;t and couldn;t back down. The fury that and flowed through him in the bout was still there. he was mostly uninjured and could handle a session or two more. But this was something new.

He spoke quickly and firmly "Those that look to fight are not worth the fight". It could have been taken as either weakness, an insult or both. Either way Ser ernesto did not care. Fighting was a matter of survival, that was all he aimed to teach. Honour mattered not to the dead afterall. He walked to the weapon rack placed down his spear and left

Over the next few days Ser ernesto made his usual preperation s for travel. As in very few if any. Ser ernesto was only seen for his duties, and was more outspoken than he normally was. He avoided the newcomers, and made his distaste of the northmen well known in the taverns, but was catious around them. He would not cause trouble for his lord foir now at least.

Re: Gathering of the 'Hold'

Strohan shook his head as the man walked away. On one side he was glad things didn't come to blows, the outcome of a fight is never known until it is to late. On the other hand for one to think that a lesson could be learned from any other manner then first hand was something he had hoped to show.

Turning he checked to make sure Gabriel was alright. Seeing him walk away Strohan considered to question the man leaving then realized there was no need. He needed to check on Gabriel.

Re: Gathering of the 'Hold'

Over the next few days Cyra did her best not to unpack her few belongings; it would make leaving again less hectic. She also did her best to socialize with the new place. If anyone offered her new kinds of food or an equally foreign custom she met it with interest. Of anyone the two people she was most often seen with was Lady Ashara and her bodyguard.

It didn't take much knowledge of Dornish custom to see that people were uneasy about the new Ironborn ships, particularly her new friend Ashara. At one point staring out at the sea Cyra asked Dio Diosanta in Myrish, "It were as though these Iron Men are pirates."

Dio grunted, "Pirates are loyal to nothing beyond their ships. These are Privateers.""

Cyra looked up at him, looking grim for the first time in weeks, "Does that make them any less dangerous?"

"Is a saber less dangerous than a scythe, Little Plum?"

"It would depend on the wielder."

"It is so with sailers."

They stood in silence for a while before Cyra cracked a smile once more, "It is good that the Dornish are the ones with the wine."</i>
