You are leaving over something that has been in the works for over 9 years and still doesn't have a set time to begin .... why would you do this... Wait it out and see what happens.

I don't know, it doesn't really bother me too much.

I use this site an awful lot, as I'm sure many here do - if the administrator needs some extra cash to keep RPOL afloat I'm happy to chip in my bit (I've probably spent more money on less before).

Personally, I'm not an "Adult" gamer, but I do play in a few games that have required the designation because of graphic violence. So I'll pay a subscription without a fuss.

Ok let's get something straight, I started this chat to discuss and prep us just in case. I personally don't see it happening anytime soon. And I don't see us being effected unless they charge for all to play which is not what they are discussing right now.

So if for some reason we need to pay to play I will be ready. And I don't think I would pay. So that means I would move the game. Again that's a long way off and it will work out.

So let's move on to posting in IC. :)

Thanks for showing interest in this topic and when you see chatter in the other boards post your thoughts so they know how the general public on this site feels about paying.

Look over the charts in House & Lands, see that the info is correct and matches the info in your Private House thread.


Take sometime to read others threads (again), I have been updating stuff and another set of eyes will help.


Read up on follow PCs and their background, a few have been updated.


PC sheet will be opened will be kept closed until exps are issues.


Players in their planning threads should talk about their houses, once your current IC is finish a month in game time with pass and house rolls for wealth and stuff will be made before going into the next IC.

I saw that also, but I did also see that the fact are not to far off the topic. I just wanted our group to see it, and give us something to talk about in chit chat. I been on top of this from my start on RPOL (reading). I find that it's a bit confusing.


My points are;

They seem to want to keep adult games. But they have trouble with them. They don't want to remove adult game for a few reasons. But say they need money to support them. One issue is confirming age for adult games, their solution has flaws (payment methods will verify age). Also if they start billing one group they could run into players trying to run a fine line btw mature and adult games. Which now starts a new line of issues.

The site is good but I know a few that charge and they offer a lot more to the players, like detail form charater sheets for the game system they are playing, and not HTML stuff more like PDFs with charater building features. Map builder for GMs to customize maps and dungeons.

Wikis that work :) and they sell product for the games, they use a drop ship system or links to earn the extra needed cash to support the site. It's a yearly fee and donations. The donators get stuff and added privileges.

I personal don't feel that way here. I feel the chat is a formality and they will run this their way. Which if they plan to charge people, those paying will expect something more then just access. And most importantly once they charge a whole new set of legalities will open up.

Right now they just have a moral issue, which they quickly ban someone and say they did something, but once they charge, now its becomes a business and they will,have more responsiblies to those that are paying and to the general publics. They're USA based so tha'st just basically means law suites. One good one and this site goes by by.

I personally like the site because of its player pool not its features, but anything over $20.00 US dollars per year I would drop it, not because of the money but because of the features, why pay them for the min. When I can get more for the money. It becomes simple - what's the best value.

For me its pffffff... there are so many places to play for free whatever you want that paying to play makes no sense at all.

As a side note, plenty of other websites that were big when they were free and could have been easily monetized but instead decided to enter into 'subscription models' and are now virtually gone.

The first thing that will happen when this starts will be half-dozen free spin off websites recruiting from here and with add-banners all over the screen.

Just wanted to let everyone know that this week has been very busy at work. I do tend to post more at work then home for a few reasons. Mainly I am upgrading my home pc and my IT guy has been slow about it.
