I have my own domain and webpage... if need be i'll host my games on my own site...a little let down to read that about "pay to play" games even if it is only for "Adult" games.

Just look at the difference of Mature and Adult. I have not yet played or gm'ed a game where the threshold has been passed. Those things you would be allowed to do/write in beyond-mature games are of no interst to me anyway.
Mature does well suffice, imo

Well this game is mature, but I ask for an Adult statement, because I read they can delete the game and make you start over if they feel the content is Adult and you don't have the statement, and so the reason why I have it.

BUT so far I can't see it as adult were pretty clean :) so far, lol.

I agree, unless the game is meant to be over the top graphic, we should be fine. What concerns me, is this the first step to 'pay to play'.

I have run games that are Adult rating for nothing more than the detail of graphic violence - So I can see running and/or playing in an adult game - But it seems a slippery slope

That's about the start of it, but I personal find more the sexual context to be the issue.

My thing on the pay to play adult is if you pay the first month so they have your age and everything, could you stop paying, but still play adult games because they still have your age on record.

no often it is, however I ran a game once that was "mature" and wrote up a death scene that I was later informed was not for Mature but should have been labled adult...

lol So I don't game for sexual reasons. But I like a lot of detail. So this leads me with the violence part being a tight rope to walk.

Just read the latest on this Pay for Adult games, turns out she didn't take the needed precautions with the age statement. See I'm so glade I did that as part of our Request to Join.

Everyone here has their adult statement before they were formally accepted to the game.

 I think the " pay to play" is  a bunch of Bravo Seirra, as we used to say on he he service.  BS in other words. I hope it is delayed a loooong time.

Well I'm not sure, but if they are a nonprofit organization they can't charge. But if they are for profit then they can and if they are not getting the cash they need to support this then they may have too. But I have read a few articles on them and they have accounted for the cash spent well and have a good rep. so I'm not to sure about the BS part, but I would be very disappointed. I do know of a few sites that are free that can easily be used to house a game. In fact I was using one before coming over here. But they don't have a forum to recruit. So the players are only by invite.

Which is why, as soon as I get my home PC back running I will continue my google site for this game and do a google circle for gaming so we can keep in touch just in case. It will also house our archives so we don't loss all this hard work :)

 Was there any indication of  a time line, when this might happen? If it has been kicking around since 05, it still might just be a rumor.

Its not a rumor as the mods confirmed it. They just have not finalized it yet. and it looks as if its only going to be for adult games. But this could change.

I don't think the legalities are something they have thought about (or maybe they have). If some pay to play they then have a responsibility, both to the consumer and the law. Right now they only have a limited responsibility to the law which they handle very easily 'remove or ban the member' and they also place the responsibility to the GM, which they can't do any longer once they charge because they manage the site so they will be equally responsible under most laws.

Its a tricky business, and ads are the best way around it. In fact they should look into video game ads and stuff directly related to gaming. Sites that sale the books for the game we play. ETC ETC.

I don't see this as a mega money maker - so selling out to a Wizards/Hasbro doesn't look like a possibility as they already have their own sites for gaming.

again, the subscriptions are for only adult games. I have played in one adult game that needed the Adult rating. Most truly qualify as Mature. At this point Mathys it could be at least 6 months probably even longer.
