Re: IC: The Shores of Kolwyn

Rhaella felt weary and conflicted. Her valyrian side wanted to jump at the opportunity, exploit this chance to advance their familly's current plots... But her Ironborn side was too bewildered by the whole thing... And knew that many of their crew would have far stronger feelings about the whole affair. She couldn't refuse the offer... Yet accepting it was likewise impossible. Not to mention that it put Kolwyn in an unconfortable situation he wasn't used to. Partially a trick to exert pressure on him, partially petty vengeance for him putting them in a similar situation.

"It would be best to still escort them as previously agreed brother, our father has already given his word for that much. Kolwyn's proposal seems pretty good, but it's a deal made with a greenlander perspective. Uncle Hotho won't be the only to strongly disagree to the idea..."

She let out a frustrated snarl as she planted he dagger in the railing.

"We are Ironborn first and foremost. We can't accept that deal without the full support of your crew, otherwise trouble and dissent will spread through them like a brewing storm. Hm... Convincing the crew would be easier if we had visible proof of the benefits of a partnership with the Kolwyns."

She then had a sudden idea, starting to become thoughtful as she removed the dagger from the railing and resheathed it.

"Yes, perhaps we should let the Drowned God decide. If this expedition brings a satisfying Iron Price, then he shows his favor to the whole endeavor. If it doesn't... Well no point in extending this partnership."

Re: IC: The Shores of Kolwyn

Still being moored Simon stared over at the other vessel. Raising sails while being anchored could be very bad for the bulwark of the vessel and its integrity.

He felt that he could control them easily.

Turning around he surveyed his trusted cadre to see which people to place aboard the vessel with himself as well.
The Ironborn could basically sail without a captain if need be.

"A wise suggestion niece. If the drowned god smiles on this partnership my brother desires then he will show us. If he does not, then we can let this madness quietly sink."

Hotho turned away, knowing that was the last word on the matter. He looked around, seeking out the maester again.

"So now what do you think of why we are here?" he asked trying to keep his distaste for the deal out of his voice.

Re: IC: The Shores of Kolwyn

After breakfast Raul made his way back up on deck and found the Captain with his family.  Moving up beside him the raider puts a bowl of stew and a chunk of bread in front of him, "Breakfast Captain?"

It wasn't hard to see what everyone was eyeing and it wasn't too hard to figure out what was going on over there either but it wasn't Raul's place to make suggestions, just follow orders.

As the crew make preparations Solvieg slowly strolls about the vessel seeking to give immediate assistance to any sailors that need a hand.  Unlike many of his more "refined" brethren he is not adverse to the daily toils of life, especially aboard a raiding ship.  He hardly finishes one task before swiftly seeking another, all the while checking about to see if any of the command crew require his services.

"May the drowned god watch over you and your ship."

Yelled the Captain back as turned around and answered.

"Breakfast? Sure! Make the ship ready to sail, we are shadowing them for a while."

He wanted to know what they were up to.

OOC: Also I would like to have some background information on our relationship with them. What is our goal?

In reply to Simon Saltwind (msg # 46):

"Aye sir." Raul mumbles, barely audible with the general din of noise around them.

Turning he moves across the deck until he finds the leader of the Reavers, "Captain wants us to set sail, shadow the Dornish ship." he says before moving on to start hoisting sail and securing lines, on a ship after all everyone works.

The men begin to get ready and quickly so not to loss the wind. The one of the many ironborn sailors - barefoot and all, climb the masts and prep the ropes and sails. In no time flat the sails catch wind and in good time as the Kolwyn ship is still in sight.

The men seems happy to get back to sea, floating in those water with no wine or ale and no women was making them restless.

Re: IC: The Shores of Kolwyn

The crew of the Reaver and its captain are no fools too tracking a ship. They have had enough practice at it these last few years and shadowing the Kolwyn ship was all to easy. They never changed wind to see if anyone was following them. They never dropped sail to hide their speed - if they needed to get away. Rookie mistakes that if they were in hostile waters it would have coast them their lives. or if they were good fighter a few lives.

Simon Saltwind Capt. of the 'Reaver' know this as soon as it happened, and the crew were only wishing they could night attach this ship and take it wonderful known cargo. Of course that would make them wanted by every captain of Westeros and maybe even jump start a Dorne war so this thought could not be realized as they know that as well ..... with the spoils they have already collected and sent home they were not exactly interested in never going back.

The Capt. and its crew need to make a discussion, sail in or stay out at sea, as the Kolwyn ship has reached their destination and are dropped anchor. They are going to unload their cargo.

Its mid-day and a The Storm God seems to be sending them a treat, as the sky is turning gray and the clouds are moving fast.

Raul waits a few moments for the rest of the crew to speak up.  Technically he wasn't staff, just a crew member, as such it wasn't his place to put his opinion on the table unless asked specifically for it.

Instead he kept busy cleaning up after lunch and wishing silently that he had a reason to sharpen his axe.  They'd plundered more than any crew he'd been with so far but even so it had been far too long since they had gone on an honest hunt and the raider was feeling dulled.

"Set course for Kings Landing, we have a wedding to attend."

...and maybe some more raiding to do on the way, added the captain in his mind as he looked at the sun to see which course to plot.

They hear the command and they get to work. "I sir, .... North by North East keep the sails tight and pull in those riggings - that storm will be on us soon." as on of the senior crew belts out to the rest of the crew.

OOC: Does the captain want to go through the storm or around it?

Re: IC: The Shores of Kolwyn

"I Sir, you heard the captain, ...... take us out of this storm, The Storm God as no prize today, .... and the Water Halls will have to wait to see you bastards feasting."

The heavy dark clouds rolls in and the storm winds are becoming stronger. The wave are starting to crash on deck and the crew are sometimes tossed around. None fall over but the storm is pretty bad and the ship is not fast enough to circle around.

The storm had actually circled around from inland and at sea has picked up more force. This is way these parts are called the Stormlands.

OOC Notes:
OOC: please roll for the sailing again.

also if you like I would recommend rolling some type of influences to motivate the crew. RPing this will also work and no roll would be needed based on your RP post.

@ Hotho Thrice - I'm working on minor magic for priests and those that are strong in their respected faith, so if you come up with something cool we can discuss this further.

The captain sniffed the wind and looked at the flag of his house waving at the main mast.

He inhaled deeply before the voice boomed over the main deck.

"Helmsman get us underway. Hand over fist men, this is not an exercise, move it you scallywags. You all know your ropes, get to it, tie down the hatches make her ready lads. We know this would be no plain sailing, lets not like three sheets to the wind in front of the drowned one. Reavers, move it!"

Re: IC: The Shores of Kolwyn

The Reavers are manning the ship well but the storm is fast and the rain is heavy. The winds are violent and starting to toss the ship as the waves crash on deck. There is little choice now the ship must sail through the storm or be toss on its side and sink to the bottom of the sea.

The crew awaits there orders from the captain, ................

Re: IC: The Shores of Kolwyn

Simon Saltwind Capt. of the 'Reaver' looks out into the dark clouds and "Stormlord I challenge you to take us!"

"Turn her into the wind we sail through this beast, .... if Our Drown Lord wills us to the bottom of the sea I will meet you all for a drink beside or ancestors as we feast in the halls of our fathers."

Hotho Thrice reaches into his pouch of religious items and takes out a black heavy oil. He walks to the Capt. dipping his thumb into the holy ointment and passing it along the bridge of the Captains nose. Some of the men stop to watch the holy man bless their Capt. "Let Simon Saltwind your servant be victorious in this day as he challenges your enemy the Stormlord. Bless him this day."

The Capt. replies "What is dead may never die." AS Hotho responds "What is dead may never die, but rises again, harder and stronger."

The waves are getting larger and they swell 30 feet over the deck. The crew slips and slides across the desk. Many start to tie themselves in, just in case they go over the side, they can be pulled back in. The day has turned to night, but not because the sun is not out, but because the Stormlord is not allowing it to break the through the clouds.

This scene has ended.
