Re: IC: By Land & Sea

Bron had gotten some work lifting barrels and bringing them to the docks. Yes, he was a guest of the noble house. However, there was no money in that until Lord Kolwyn actually hired him for something. Which at the moment had not happened. Nor did he feel like shoving himself in the lord's face asking for work-which may have to happen sooner or later. However, he had been made part of the 'Elite' guard...but what that meant nobody had told him...including the pay. So for now, he was gathering what coin he could.

Sundancer landed on one of the barrels, and cawed at him. "Ok, ok-featherbrain!" He said and chuckled. He proceeded to give the Black Eagle one of his salted fish treats. By tossing it in the air and watching as the razor sharp beak snatch the food before it hit the ground.

Re: IC: By Land & Sea

Strohan stood on the dock watching as the sailors moved about relocating crates and bags to different locations and boarding them onto the ships. From time to time he would step aside to let them pass so he wasn't in the way but most times he watched out across the water. Looking out at the ships he admired how calm the waves looked at this very moment and wondered if they would keep that temper as they headed north.

Looking around he waited for those of worth or arrive. He was sure they would have something he could tend to but he was in no hurry and enjoyed the sounds of the working dock.

Looking down a ways he noticed the the landing of nice sized blak bird landing close to a man that Strohan assumed was his keeper.

Snapping back from his thoughs he stopped a young man heading away and flagged him down.

"I need to make sure that my wagon and supplies are loaded onto the ship. Also make sure my livestock is in good hands, they've never traved across the water before."

Strohan hadn't planned on taking both his horse and the ox with him. And perhaps he wouldn't need the wagon but it was best to keep his supplies close. Not knowing how they would enjoy the shaking rocking of the boat he wanted to make sure they would be taken care off.

Wiping his brow he titled his head back and absorbed the warmth from the sun. The slight breeze cooled him but his armor was not very forgiving in the sun. Sliding his shield up over his sholder and securing his axe across his back he headed to check on his belongings.

Re: IC: By Land & Sea

Strohan Storm notices that food supplies and valuables are being sent to the new ship as well as personal belongings. Live stock is at a minimum, as a land caravan will be transporting the long term supplies to Kings Landing in a few weeks.

The merchant ship from Essos, Cyra Vyraes trade vessel, will be transporting about 30 days of supplies to hold over at Kings Landing and for the trip. Also it seems that a near by village has delivered some newly dyed fabrics of silk and other items for trade at the Landing.

"The Wave Hunterlooks to be an impressive ship, father. Will the rest of our ships stay here?" Ashara asks her father. She gives an appreciate "Oooh!" at the dramatic revelation of the ship's House Kolwyn colors.

Ashara hears the caw of Sundancer and smiles at Bron and the eagle.

Re: IC: By Land & Sea

Bron noticed Ashara, grinned and wandered over. The black eagle hopped forth, and landed on his out stretched fur covered bracer. The light lion skin provided some protection, but was light enough to wear in this heat. He proceeded to bow to the lady and her father, even as the eagle opened its wings to keep its balance on his arm. "My lord...my lady." He said. He had met Lord Kolwyn, when he returned his daughter to him. He wondered if the man wanted him around at all, as he seemed rather sucipus weather or not he had touched his little girl in an extra unseemly way. Bron had not of course, but the ripped dress had not gone over well. However, Ashara had most likely kept Bron from being hung by her family-rescue or not.

"You remember Sundancer, Ashara...er, I mean Lady Kolwyn." He corrected himself. The eagle cocked its head at Ashara, as if it was unsure from one human to another.

"Bron, .... Well done on your advancement to the your new station. I hope they are treating you well? I have spoken with the captain you and a few others will be joining us to King's Landing. You will be traveling on board The Wave Hunter with us. I hope you will be able to manage the sea." Lord Perros has always made it a point to personally give his respects to those that have earned advancements in his ranks. It said that he personally choices, with his consults.

Perros has a proud look on his face as he stares at his newest his. As he speak with Bron he continues to scan the face of those on the dock this fine morning. It seems he is looking for someone.

Re: IC: By Land & Sea

Bron bows to Lady Tansa. "Yes, my Lady. Thank you." He says. He was still roughshod, and tried to remember all the court manners he had observed in others. Needless to say, it was not a lot. The free folk ignored and mocked such things...but he was not north of the wall now.

When Perros gave him his orders, Bron looked relieved. He was half expecting a 'good job, now here is a few coins and on your way like a good lad-far, far away from my daughter.' "Yes, my lord. I was a sailor when I met your daughter the first time, and I am more than a fair swimmer, as she has no doubt told you." Trying to carry her on his back in the ocean while staying out of the pirates view had been something of a challenge indeed.

When Ashara reaches for Sundancer, the bird turns its head sidewise to get a better view of her. "Of course you can! Remember, just like I showed you." Bron replied to her request, grinning.

Sundancer had helped him get to shore. Swimming at night, carrying Ashara-he relied on the Eagle's cries to let him know which way to land. They both owed their lives to the animal, and he had 'formally' introduced her to him once they had hit the beach.

The eagle seemed to accept Ashara's hand on his feathers. The animal was calm, and began looking about for other things, as he quickly lost interest in the current scene. "Don't be rude, Sundancer." Bron chuckled as the bird started looking for prey.

Ser Hassan and Lady Aislin had arrived arm in arm with knights and children in tow. Many of their shields appeared freshly painted with Heraldry and coats of arms from across the 7 kingdoms and especially Dorne. Some of them were alternate versions of the standard coat of arms of House Ravenhowe, indicating other branches of the Family. Hassan's own shield was slashed with an X of silver. "Quite an impressive show Brother," he said to Lord Perros as he saw the ship. "Yes Perros, it is marvelous, truly one to commemorate," said Aislin as they gazed upon the ship. There were some sharp whistles and nods from the various knights who were joining them, 10 in total in addition to two of the Raven's Claws.

Re: IC: By Land & Sea

Badar marched with the other knights of House Ravenhowe as they followed Lord Hassan and Lady Aislin and their family. His own shield was emblazened with both the symbol of his family, HOuse Kaldor, and that of his Lord's family, House Ravenhowe. He had wrapped his head for the travel but now the wrapping lay around his shoulders like a banner to either side of his surcoat.

Several paces further behind the grouping of knights was Badar's loyal Sand Steed, Habool. He had been riding Habool, when they had been riding but now the black horse was keeping a watchful eye on its master. Habool shook the sand from the journey free of his mane and spun in a quick circle.

Badar stared in amazement at the large ship as the colors of House Kolwyn were raised. He let out a quiet gasp. This was the largest ship he had ever seen, then again he might say the same of the keelboats they were going to use as boarding vessels. As the wonder faded he pulled himself into a rigid stance with his spear infront of him. "Remember your duty men," he said to the other Knights in a hushed tone.

Cyra stood with the Kolwyn family at the unfurling of the house standard, and she clapped at the show with a pleasant smile upon her face. Her dress that day was pastel yellow silk (it seemed she always wore her family's wares) with very little extra detailing; it was a traveling garment with a more flowing skirt than her usual form-fitting fashions, and the color contrasted beautifully with her dark skin. Others around her were speaking freely, but for the moment she contended herself with watching the proceedings than joining in the conversation. Her brown eyes went from the majestic Kolwyn ship to the merchant vessel she traveled in on and felt a small pang of homesickness. Back home her mother would be hosting a festival for the harvest of the orange and lemon trees in the garden; she always loved picking apart the orange fruit and the feel of the sweet juice between her fingers. The courtyard and her skin would smell of oranges for days.

But today she smelled the sea instead and did not allow herself to dwell too long on her homesickness, so she closed her eyes and breathed, allowing the aroma of sand and salt to wash over her. She suspected that the garish celebrations at King's Landing would leave her too distracted to think about home; besides, there would be business to attend to.

Looking around she backed up a pace or two as the Lady Ashara and her family spoke with a man with an eagle, and the approach of the Ravenhowes, their brood, and their knights on the dock, which while spacious still had it's limits, gave her a convenient excuse to slip away from the Kolwyn bustle. She had felt more than welcomed by the family, but she knew that even when new guests were enjoyed there are times when it's pleasant to deal with the familiar than the foreign. Cyra wanted to give them that opportunity before they were all huddled closely on the ship. The close proximity of the docks caused her to pass close enough besides several knights that they might catch her perfume.

She stopped besides Stroham with the same warmth she had for him at their first meeting. "Do you guard today, Ser Storm, or do travel on ship with us?" she asked as she met his eyes.

Ashara gives her father a curious look, wondering who he is looking for.
“Yes, mother, this is Bron. I owe him my life. He has some quite exciting storis to tell” she introduces Bron to her mother. She is happy to see her mother seems to get along with Bron. “He is at that” she whispers back to her mother.
“Thank you” She smiles at Sundancer and laughs when the eagle began to look away. “I don't mind, though I hope I only bore eagles, not people.”
She smiles at her uncle when he compliments the new ship.

Strohan allowed himself a slight smile at the corner of his mouth. The sent of Cyra was a much more pleasent sent then the men working in the heat. Bowing his head just slightly he nodded to her.

"Mi'lady I hope you are well today. I'm not on duty, today. I just feel a bit more relaxed around those working. It seems I'm to travel north aboard the ship. Its been some time sense I traveled with the water under me. To be honest I'm lokoing forward to it. It will be nice to feel the sea breeze. Also the time it will save is worth the chance of weather.

If I might ask, will you be enjoying any festive activities while in Kingslanding or are you business all the time.?"

Strohan turned to face Cyra giving her his full attention. She looked amazing and it seemed to him that the dress she wore was ment to tease those that saw her walking in the breeze. That thought made him snicker. This was a lady he would hate to do battle with. For some reason he had a feeling that his massive axe would seem a childs toy against her beauty alone. Who knew what else she was carrying, hidden somewhere out of sight.

Bron grins back at Ashara. "I know what to do. The blasted featherbrain only loves a few things-and most of those are not people." He took a object from his belt pouch, and gently pressed it into Ashara's hand. It felt liked dried meat. "Now, just call to him by name, and toss what's in your hand over his head. High as you like."

Assuming Ashara did, the bird's sharp eyes would lock on to what was now airborn. If needed it would leap into the air, and grab the dried fish with one loud snap of its beak. Only to land by Ashara's feet and look up at her, as if expecting something.

In reply to Strohan Storm (msg # 15):

Cyra laughed at the mention of weather. "Weather is worth risk. Sea is thrill, but unforgive. Water and metal," she began and touched his armored arm, "Might drag away unsuspecting man. You enjoy breeze better without." She made no attempt to mask the mischief in her cheek.

At his question of business and pleasure in the capital, the woman looked up in thought. Then again there wasn't much further up she could look considering how tall Strohan was compared to her. "Is there difference between business and festivity? In Myr we always work. Work to gain, work to pleasure. Both are challenge," and she paused for emphasis, "I love challenge. Makes alive."

And as if in echo to Strohan's thoughts, an easterly wind brought the smell of the salt with it, and Cyra's loose hair and yellow empire gown blew across her face and body the same way it had when they had met upon her arrival. Her dress this time was looser and the fabric rippled like the ocean beneath their feet--or liquid sunlight. It was hard to tell was her hair whipped across her face, but she might have winked at him.

Fatimah drags her gaze away from the ships and water. She's met all sorts of people who have been on a ship, but she's never been on one herself. She is however dressed for the occasion, loose, light clothes that won't restrict her movements if she falls in. Wraps to secure her chest and she is reasonable certain she can struggle just enough to stay above water if the worst happens.

As she turns to the spectacle of feeding the bird she asksImpressive, what else can he do?

Re: IC: By Land & Sea

Gabriel made his aboard, having carefully cleaned and prepared his equipment in the intervening days allowed to them. The studs of his brigandine armor gleamed brightly in the sun, touched with the same lively luminescence that danced among the waves rolling about The Wave Hunter. His blade, Cloudbreaker, hung easily at his hip - its pommel, plain but for an embellished indent in the shape of a raindrop, polished til it shone bright as a star at his hip... But the leather of his brigandine was still worn and nearly cracked, old and tried from two generations of use. The cloak that hung at his shoulders still grew thin at its hem, where it nearly touched the ship's timber deck.

Helmed as always, the warrior's exact expression was inscrutable. Though his sea green eyes seemed to rove the distant waves, rolling with their white-capped swells. As always, whenever Gabriel came to the coast, he was enraptured by it. So similar, air filled with the sound of crashing tides and crying gulls... It evoked distant memories of Watchman's Point. Of his father.

A father, whom Gabriel thought, would be watching closely over the next few weeks.

Gabriel walked to the ship's railing, metal-clad fingers taking hold of it as he looked beyond wordlessly. This voyage, and what came after, might mean everything. Might mean nothing. Time alone would tell.

Re: IC: By Land & Sea

Stohan looked up as the man called out from over the ships edge. Looking down at Cyra, Strohan pauses for a momoent to admire her beauty in the breeze. For a moment it appeared as if she may have winked through her wind blown hair but Strohan was sure he had to be mistaken. He wasn't the smartest of men but a woman of Cyra's qualities did not find men of Strohans stature appealing. Often most saw him as a massive brute, but everytime she touched him it soothed him. She was not timmid or afraid by his side. It was refreshing to know that. Her eyes were always kind and her smile was sharper then the blade he carried so we had to wonder what thoughts might stir within.

"Shall we board? It seems we are ready to take on this thrill...I will need to remove this armour as soon as I can. I'd hate to be washed over and then sink like a rock with all this on. Are you aware of the rooming arangemens?"
He took a step as he spoke to accompany her onto toward the ship and as the words lefts his mouth a lump in his throat almost choked him to silence. He couldn't believe he had just asked her about rooming. Surely he words would give her reason to pause. All to often his words get him into trouble but most of the time it was a stiff hook to his jaw or sound of metal on metal that resulted. His slip may be taken as in insult and clearly in his mind he had over stepped. Something about her made him let down his guard.

That isn't a good thing
