Re: Maps and Locations of The Stormlands

WORK IN PROGRESS

The Stromlands

       Status of House

House Name: "Lord of House, seat of House".

Regions
◾The Dornish Marches: is an area of the southwestern stormlands bordering Dorne, the Reach, and the Sea of Dorne. The hundreds of leagues of the marches consist of grassland, moors, and plains, with a portion stretching along the Red Mountains west of the Stormlands.

◾The Boneway: is a major pass that runs through the Red Mountains, connecting Dorne and the Stormlands. The name is a colloquial name, with the Stone Way being its official name.

◾Cape Wrath: is a large fertile penninsula of the Stormlands that juts out into the narrow sea, bordered to the north by Shipbreaker Bay, to the east by the narrow sea, and to the south by the Sea of Dorne.

◾The Red Mountains is a mountain range extending over much of southern Westeros. The mountain range divides Dorne from the Stormlands and the Reach.

◾The Red Watch: is the region around Stonehelm in the southern Stormlands, where the Red Mountains meet Cape Wrath. It is part of the eastern Dornish Marches.

Forests
◾The Kingswood: is a large forest that lies across the Blackwater Rush from King's Landing. It is in the northern Stormlands and is traversed by the kingsroad.

◾The Rainwood: is a large forest that lies on Cape Wrath in the Stormlands.

Coastal Areas

◾Shipbreaker Bay: is a large bay in the Stormlands along the eastern coast of Westeros. Rocky and frequented by storms, it is named after the large number of ships that have been destroyed in its waters.

◾The Sea of Dorne: is a large sea on the eastern side of Westeros. It is bordered to the north by Cape Wrath in the Stormlands, to the west and south by Dorne, and to the east by the narrow sea.

◾Tarth: is an island off the main continent of Westeros. It is separated from the continent by the Straits of Tarth, and is situated northeast of Shipbreaker Bay.

◾The Straits of Tarth: lie between the island of Tarth and the mainland Stormlands, north of Shipbreaker Bay.

Castles
◾ Baratheon, a massive castle that is the seat of House Baratheon.
◾Haystack Hall, seat of House Errol, a holdfast east of the Kingsroad and north of Storm's End.
◾Bronzegate, a holdfast just off the Kingsroad north of Storm's End, east of the Wendwater.
◾Felwood, a holdfast northwest of Storm's End on the edge of the Kingswood.
◾Evenfall Hall, the seat of House Tarth, on the island of Tarth.
◾Rain House, a holdfast on the southern shore of Shipbreaker Bay south east of Storm's End.
◾Mistwood, a holdfast in the wooded area south of Storm's End.
◾Swann, the seat of House Swann, south west of Storm's End on the northern shore of the Sea of Dorne.
◾Griffin's Roost, seat of House Connington, a holdfast south west of Storm's End on the eastern shore of Shipbreaker Bay.
◾Caron, the seat of House Caron, south west of Storm's End near the Dornish Marches, the border with Dorne.
◾Dondarrion, the seat of House Dondarrion, south west of Storm's End near the border with Dorne.
◾Crow's Nest, a castle east of Blackhaven.
◾Summerhall, a castle built by House Targaryen.

Highways
◾The Kingsroad
◾Prince's Pass

Rivers
◾The Wendwater: is a river a border between the two regions; the crownlands and stormlands. Beginning at a narrow lake in the southern kingswood, the Wendwater flows northeast to Blackwater Bay. North and west of the Wendwater is the forest of the kingswood.
