IC: Gathering of Realms

The Stormlands, ... the very name conjures images of its mystery and adventure for those that have traveled so far. Blackhaven is no little village. At the northern base of the Boneway its stronghold keeps the unwanted out.

It has rained for almost 5 days with little rest from the clouds above. At times the wind force would speed the rain, and it would hurt when it struck the face or exposed hand.

Mardax Kaldor has spent these last 5 days pushing forward to Blackhaven. At times staying off the road to avoid men and even some travelers for the worry that they are still after him. He has been silent with no one to speak too and nothing to do but walk and remember the fire of the burn farm house. And awakening to his dear companion missing. Mardax is hungry and weak, Not so that he couldn't defend himself, but a hot whole meal instead of scraps left behind at an old camp would be so satisfying at the moment.

At the mid-way point to the crest of a rocky hill the smoke of chimneys can be seem. It's almost noon as the sun breaks though the clouds. The rain has stop, like a sign from the havens, below the hill is a pleasant sight, .... it is the grey, muddy, wet, Blackhaven. Mardax is almost relieved, .... BUT .... from behind the sound of horses and wagons approach.

The caravan from the west, .... The houses of The Reach are almost at Blackhaven, and for the first time in almost 10 years, three forces that have been at one time or another at arms and against each other are coming together to meet as equals, and without sword in hand. The rain has stopped and ahead is a weather beaten, somewhat ragged man, perhaps a solider or scout, ...... as the caravan gets closer, he looks somewhat surprised and worried at the sight of the so many, .... its not fear but something else.

Within Blackhaven, the Dorne houses are enjoying the 'Old Lords' hospitalities, ... a bit of a rude man he may be, but the rest don't seem so bad. The oddest thing is the Old Lord's son Haryl (the current true lord), his wife Deria and their family have yet to greet them and the Dorne men and ladies are watched closely .... One most wonder what this means.

Several scouts ride in and announce that the families of The Reach will be at Blackhaven with-in the hour.

Re: IC: Gathering of Realms

Rain, most times welcomed, for its benefit to the crops, refreshing rivers and streams, and making clean the air and land. But the very thought of the word brought a curse to the lips, of the second son, of House Ashfield. The Gods had pissed a cities population worth upon those that traveled this mud field, called a road, these many days. Only with the dawn, did the sky offer  a change for the better, with the sun making a brief appearance.

Mathys, with his squire Leon, that trailed at his side, had taken up a position in the advance guard of the caravan. He was wet, chilled, saddle sore, and just  plain bored with the whole journey. But it was nothing that a  warm hearth, decent wine, and the arms of  a buxom serving girl, could not set to rights. Ser Mathys was speaking with his Squire, as he rode along the muddy road, with several Knights of Ashfield. " By the Seven, Leon, I could drink a tavern dry, and hump a Sand Viper whore, by now. It will be good to get to our destination." He chuckled and tapped spurs to his horse, to take it into a canter ahead of the others.

When Ser Mathys saw the lone man standing in the road, Mathys took his measure, as concerned if he was armed, and with what, type of garb, and body language. Next his eyes darted around the area, seeking potential enemies, hidden or otherwise. He slowed the horse to  walk, and removed the leather loop from his longsword, but did not draw it, not yet. Leon had his shield, so his coat of arms was evident to the stranger. He did not address the man, as it was common for the low born to offer respects to their betters.

Re: IC: Gathering of Realms

The trip was a terrible that had dropped Edric's spirits to a low. He had left Blue Hall riding high in the saddle, clad in his new plate armor, but with the ran had come grim tidings and his sister had fallen ill. Edric arose in the morning and donned his armor, ready to make the final push to Blackhaven. Riding in the middle of the caravan with his sister, Edric spirits had begun to lift as the rain began to stop and the sun started poking out from the clouds. Hopefully at Blackhaven offered better opportunities and more sound advice then the road had.

Seeing Mathys speed a head of the group, Edric kicked his own horse to speed up so that he might catch up with him. Edric slowed his horse too as he approached Mathys and the traveler, but said nothing, letting Mathys take the lead on this.

Ashara's easy morning turns a bit more active as Ashara strolls around Blackhaven some, interacting with the Dondarrions and seeing the castle. She tries to spend most of her time in the company of Cyra and Fatimah. "So, have the Stormlands been all you thought they would be?" she asks Cyra and Fatimah.

Grateful of the non-aggrivating company, Cyra gladly joined Ashara's company. The interaction with the Old Lord left a sour taste in her mouth in terms of Blackhaven nobility, and it left a frown on her normally pleasant face. But the line between her eyebrows began to smooth the longer she spent with both Cyra and Fatimah. But at Ashara's question, her frown returned and she shook her head, glossy black hair framing her face, "Land is storm, but people are storm more. No true lord has seen us. Eye of storm has yet to come." The good news was she was wearing dry clothes, and she wore her favorite yellow silk gown and and a maroon cloak. In comparison to he gloomy landscape the clothing looked strange.

Re: IC: Gathering of Realms

Mardax was in slightly better moods seeing his destination down below.  The slight food he got from the scouts was a bit better then he had in days, and now he could finally get some real food and clean up.  Or, so he hoped...

When the sound of horses and wagons came from behind, he quickly darted around.  His hand went to his side, where his weapon hung.  He must have looked like hell, his armor covered in mud and dried blood, his face bruised, hair messed and caked with dirt.  Was when he saw three riders come ahead and approach him.  His eyes narrowed for a moment, when he saw their coat.

While far from a master of politics, he knew that the coat of arms belonged to no Dornish house, but one of the Reach.  His stance lessened slightly, though his eyes remained on who seemed to be the one in charge.

"Greetings, travelers from the Reach.  I don't suppose you have room for a Dornishmen heading to Blackhaven, do you?  I can pay, if it is required." No sense giving out his name unless he must... he had no idea how far, or deep, this conspiracy ran.

Ashara tends to her needlework as she chats with Fatimah and Cyra. "Yes, the weather was certainly as stormy as we hear and I'm glad to be out of it" Ashara says with a shake of her now-dry hair. She looks a bit worried at Cyra's other words. "Do you think us not seeing the lord yet is significant? I'm hoping he's just busy, but it could be a calculated insult, or something worse" she says quietly to Cyra and Fatima.
"Well, many of the stormlanders are very nice." Ashara replies to Fatimah. "And the old lord was very flattering to me" she adds, blushing. "But I didn't like the way they treated Cyra at all." she finishes softly so none of the Dondarrion's servants overhear them.

When the mud caked man spoke, it was as one equal to another. That, combined with his level of speech marked him as no robber. So Mathys came to what to his mind, was a logical conclusion. " Did whatever sway back, you rode finally die on you, Hedge Knight? You look like something that a cat would refuse to drag in." Mathys was not making a jape, even if it might sound like one. His facial expression was one of a frown. And the man's hand movement had not gone unnoticed, as evidenced by Mathys resting his hand on the handle of the hammer that was located in  a saddle scabbard. " Declare yourself, man of Dorne."

Re: IC: Gathering of Realms

Ser Hassan had made his appearance that morning wearing some thicker garb to protect against the harsh wind. It was a black doublet with sleeves slashed with lavender, the buttons up the doublet were seven pointed stars. His once longer hair appeared to be freshly cut, and his face trimmed and proper. This is what Ashara and Fatimah remember their Father/Uncle looking like when he was younger. Behind him stood Roland and Gerrin, Squire and Page respectively. Roland, Fatimah's younger brother appeared to be walking around in a set of full plate built for his size and a House Ravenhowe tabard. When the three approached Roland lifted his visor and waved a metal clad hand to the women. "Hello!" Hassan shook his head at his son slightly chuckling, "Good morning ladies, I hope you all slept quite well," he placed his hand on Roland's shoulder.

"Roland here has a big day ahead of him, lots of training, he was planning on entering the Squires Melee in King's Landing. I think he was planning to ask Miss Cyra Vyraes for a favor," it was at this point that Hassan was immediately cut off with a very huffy "DAD!!!" from Roland who's cheeks immediately turned red and his visor fell over his face. "Now I've gone and embarrassed him, I'm sorry my son." But Hassan's face was in a smile.

In reply to Ashara Kolwyn (msg # 8):

Cyra looked at Ashara somberly, but she smiled genuinely at the first words, "You truly innocent, my sweet sister." Her tone grew more grave and quieter as she spoke the next, "If we in Myr, no insult. Servants greet visitors, show them to rooms, allow guests to freshen, relax for hours. Then meet host leaving mud of road in laundry and bath. Is polite. Here, not so. If Lord Dondarian were at castle Kolwyn, he be greeted under hour by your father. Here, they send lecherous bleck man to welcome and true lord not even greet us break fast after. We take hospitality without leave to thank host proper."

She gave a moment to let the words sink in, but upon seeing Ser Hassan approach, Cyra whispered, "House Kolwyn been slapped in face."

Looking up at the approaching knight with sons in tow, Cyra allowed the severity to leave her features, leaving her posture and expression pleasant as ever. Though she did not know Hassan the way the other women did, it was hard to miss the difference a hair cut, shave, and knightly clothing made on the father. "Good morning sers. We slept wonderful, and appears you renewed by night, too." And to Roland and Hassan's exchange, Cyra smiled so that her eyes crinkled, but she held back a chuckle for Roland's sake. Looking between father and son, she put a hand over her heart, "I flattered. No knight or knight-to-be ever suggested desire for favor." She lifted her eyes to meet Roland's visor, the genuine smile still alight.

Mardax narrowed his eyes as the man spoke.  At first, he was rather angry, and his mouth turned inward towards a sneer.  But then, he suddenly went the other way, and started laughing.  After all, this man had no idea who he was, and hell, if he looked in a mirror, HE probably couldn't tell who he was.

After the short laughing fit was over, Mardax composed himself again, smirking at the man.  "I am no Hedge Knight.  However, forgive me if I say, the LAST time I said who I was, a group of men tried to murder me.  So i would prefer to be, somewhat anonymous.  However, I can tell you, that if you help me, I will see you are properly rewarded.  Or perhaps, if you give me your own name and house, I might be able to see if your connected to the people who have tried to kill me, and mayhaps trust might be earned."

Mardax looked at the man, smirking still, as the man spoke of not being his enemy, or if he were, he would be in a dance of steel. "Mayhaps you are not, because you know not who I am..."  He said, his face staring at the man, before he simply said.

"Besides, I do not need answer to knights, as you are beneath me.  I am Lord Mardax second son to Lord Reinard of House Kaldor.  Now, will you help me, or are you and your retinue going to delcare yourselfs enemys, and we can start that dance you spoke of."

His voice was stern, and rather harsh, as his eyes narrowed again.  His hand did tighten on his weapon, as like he said... last time he greeted with strangers, they tried to kill him.  Without Brindal, he wasn't going to take chances, and prepared himself, just in case.

When  Edric spoke for him, Mathys glared at his friend, words would be spoken between them about this, oh never fear. But now was not the time. He returned his attention to the self proclaimed Lord of Dorne. " As my companion has told you, I am Ser  Mathys of  House Ashfield. Since you claim to be a Lord, then it is a Lord you shall meet and we shall then see." Mathys turned to his Squire. "Leon, ride to my Lord Father, and inform him we have met a Lord Of Dorne, that requests hospitality of him. I shall fetch his " Lordship" to him forthwith. Make haste." Mathys was not convinced this man was as he claimed, but dammit, Edric was correct, even if he was an interloper in Mathys  business.  They had to make nice with the Dorne. He would rather impale one then break bread, but a Royal command, was a Royal command.

Ashara smiles back at Cyra. “Thank you, that’s very kind.” She pauses in her sewing as she considers Cyra’s whisper, looking worried, but she doesn’t have time to say anything before her Uncle arrives.
Ashara looks a bit shocked at the years her uncle has lost. She smiles brightly on seeing Roland. She sets aside her needlework, rises and curtsies to him. "Good morning, squire Roland!" she greets him cheerfully. "I slept well, uncle" she says pleasantly enough, but without the warmth she would usually show him; she's still mad about the way he treated Bron.
“I wish you the best of fortune in your training and at the Melee, Roland. I’ll pray to the warrior for you” she says warmly and holds in her giggles when Hassan reveals he is planning to ask Cyra for her favor. Smiling brightly, she says “Every maiden dreams of a knight or knight to be asking for her favor.”

Re: IC: Gathering of Realms

Mardax watched as another man rode forward, and spoke.  A man more diplomatic then the other his eyes watched the pair.  So, they were headed to the same place by royal command.  He was curious if his own family had made it here yet.

As the one introduced the pair, and the squire, he relaxed a bit.  The houses of the Reach had always been... coridal at best, but at least they were known enemys of Dorne at times.  It was bad, when he was willing to put more trust in a House of the Reach, then people of his own land.

At the offer of a horse, he shook his head. "Thank you, no.  Me and horses... don't get along. Water would be good, and possibly a spot on the wagon.  Otherwise, I can walk and keep up.  Prefer it that way.  Also, something to clean up my armor a tad, and you will see my houses Sigil, to give a bit more.. Credit, to who I claim, since I don't believe you think I am who I say." His eyes were gazed at Mathys when he said that.  The way he spoke was all he needed to know the man didn't believe him.  But, at least, it helped him trust them to not be part of the plan to kill him.

Being a third born son left Rikard with plenty of time to do as he will, and he had spent most of it before this journey exploring the woods back home.  Now, he wished nothing more than to be with his father's scouts rather than riding with his family, but apparently his father had other ideas as to where his son should be and so Rikard let his mind wander as his horse plodded along.  As he mused, it was very clear to those around him that his thoughts were as gloomy as the weather.

When Ser Edric mention Garin, Mardax looked over at him with a smile.  "Good, he is still alive then.  How did he fare?  Was he well?"  he asked, looking on over at him for a moment, before taking another sip.  "And it is fine.  Meeting the Lord is a wise precaution.  After all, I am sure I hardly look the lord at the moment.  And.. Dorne and the Reach have always had.. and interesting relationship.  Animosity is something that one grows used to.  This new world of Unification is an interesting one."

After insuring Sundancer was cared for, he prepared to follow whatever orders they had for him. No doubt Ashara would be too busy with all the noble folk to spare any time. Father, what you call rudeness, is what am call being wary. A dirty, ragged man, standing in the middle of road, claims to be a Lord. I handled the situation as I thought best." But as the last word slipped off his tongue, Mathys knew it was a wasted effort. His father had already made up his mind upon the matter. So the young knight fell in next to Lord Ascar for the short ride back.

Mardax listened to Ser Edric, as he talked about the confrontation with Vernon Steiner, and his mood soured some.  His eyes darkened, but a small smirk crossed his lips when he said that his brother had killed one of Steiner's men.  But he remained silent for now.

When introduced, he bowed his head to Lord Ascar, but when the lord started to speak, he smirked some.  With a shake of his head, he looked at Lord Ascar.  "No, my Lord.  I never claimed to be son of Regenard Kaldor.  Unless their are more Kaldor's then I am aware, such a man does not exist.  I am son of Lord, Prince Reinard Kaldor of Kaldor Tower & Guardian of the Prince's Pass, since you were trying to add in his titles."

His eyes locked on with Lord Ascar as he spoke, showing the man that he was being formal, but the test, while possibly necessary, wasn't appreciated.  Nor was the mispronunciation of his fathers name.

In reply to Mardax Kaldor (msg # 31):

Lord Ascar breaks out with a laugh, then smiling with a reply, .... "You are a Lord Prince's son and well spoke to add. Well my son Mathy's I think you should speak the words that are stinging a little, because this man seems to be who he claims, who else could he be if not himself."

"Ser Eric lets continue and extend to the young lord of Kaldor our hospitalities, as best as we can. We should see Blackhaven within the hour." He turns his horse to heads back too, from which he came. "Rikard stay with your brother, and try to keep him out of trouble."

Mardax smiled a bit at Lord Ascar, and nodded.  "Well, diplomacy is one weapon I usually wield fairly well, my lord.  I thank you for the hospitality and lift to Blackhaven.  Hopefully, my family has beaten me there."

He gave a smug look to Mathys, as his father told him to speak the words, seeming to wait and relish the words that would come.

It's not until his father says his name a second time that Rikard is shaken out of his morose reverie.  With some hesitation he calls out, "Yes father?" while spurring his mount forward.  As he approaches he looks about with more than a little confusion but says nothing, hoping his father doesn't realize that he has no idea what he is suppose to do.

When Lord Ascar made words that Mathys should ask Mardax's pardon, his frown deepened,is such was possible. " My Lord Father, I did what  I thought good sense, in the matter of my treatment of Lord Kaldor. Until recently, he was the enemy, a worthy one to be sure, but still the enemy. I cannot shift my attitudes when  I encounter a Warrior of Dorne, overnight.   I think with all things considered, I acted appropriately." Mathys expression then become stoic, but he did nod to Mardax,as one Knight might when greeting another.

Yes M'Lord, I will show Lord Mardax to an open seat on one of the carts as he has requested. After showing Mardax a place to sit, Edric remounts his horse and takes his place at the front of the column. Donning his helmet, Edric want to make sure he looked impressive  and formidable to the lords of both Dorne and the Stormlands.

Mardax in truth did no fault the knight for his questioning.  After all, he hardly looked the stuff of lords.  Under the grime was once a fine set of clothes, but the only thing he still had of any lordly value was his castleforged steel.

He continued to smirk, but nodded to the knight.  "Do not fault him my lord.  Other then being a bit abrassive, he did well by you.  I am sure in time, with this new peace and brotherhood we are finally joining, me and your son might be good friends."

Mardax had a way with words, and then followed Edric to the cart, where he quickly hopped on.  Then, he went to work trying to clean some of the worst grim off him and his outfit.  He didn't wish to be seen by his family like this... or worse, Ashara.

He said with a smirk upon his lips,as he winked to his younger brother. Mathys enjoyed teasing Rikard, because he tended to be on the reserved side. Bron watched the set up for the tournament. He noticed the black eagle above him, sitting on one of the high towers. Sundancer's powerful eyes seem to be peering at something below, and the bird fanned out its wings, as if ready to dive. Only when Bron looked carefully at the beast did it seem to reconsider.

He followed the raptor's gaze, and wondered what could be antagonizing him so. Then he saw...Ashara and her uncle, speaking together. He looked back up at the bird. Was it just an animal? Did it pick up on his feelings? Was it something altogether different? He did not know. What he did feel was the powerful mix of contrary emotions as he too watched Ashara and her uncle.

Old Lord Dondarrion and Ser Ackley Selmy approach the table to where the Dorne quests sit and eat. Cariel the old lord places his hand on Ser Hassan’s shoulder, “So it seems the Reachers have arrived, it be best we get ready for them, …. Let your men know to keep their weapons put away regardless of what’s said, …. My son will favor them and it will be in your lord’s, best interest.” Cariel walks away to sit and finish his breakfast.

Ser Ackley Selmy follows just behind his lord and quickly speaks “your house and your Lord Perro’s house can call Cariel, Old lord an ally when you find enemies among the thorns of Flowers” he just as quickly walks away to catch up to his lord.

OOC: Players at Blakhaven may make one post freely, …. I recommend making it long and end it with being where you want to be when the Reachers arrive or I will take it that you do not greet them at all/

The procession from The Reach continues down the muddy road to Blackhaven. It seems that the people were aware of their arrival and many of the small folk have gathered on the main road. It is a much different welcome then the Dorne had received, maybe it was the weather or timing, regardless they seem to be warmer to the east then the south.

Lord Haryl, Lady Deria and their children have also come out of their castle to greet their new guests. They stand at the foot end of the road before the points were no outsider may pass.

A ragged bunch of older veteran warriors stand behind Old Lord Dondarrion and Ser Giles Herston. Menara Dondarrion and her husband Osgred Selmy are also amoung them.

Standing with Lord Haryl Dondarrion is his personal guards The BlackBolts, with Ser Ackley Selmy at their head. The BlackBolts are in purple and black, the house colors and well-armed with good quality armor.

OOC: Players in the group of The Reach may post from the point of the arrival of Blackhaven and with the greeting of the lord to Blackhaven and these surrounding land.

Re: IC: Gathering of Realms

Yeah that would be tacky Maybe if I win I could ask a handsome knight to take my favor? I'll think of something. Fatimah says as she is leaving to give them privacy. On the way to her room to get ready for the Reachers, she plans out what to wear Okay, I definitely heard that the men would have weapons so I obviously shouldn't go without, but what about armor? I suppose the goal is fitting in... if I'm the only one with armor I'll look a bit bloodthirsty. But I'll look less than serious if I'm all dressed up when everyone is ready to fight. Hmm... I'll dress up. I bet I can play off that easier. Okay now how to dress up. The outdoor dress. That should work here.

The dress Fatimah is designed for the searing sand and sun of Dorne, not the outdoors of the Stormlands. The dress is light, white, loose and covers Fatimah, while still showing some of her form. Since the goal is to keep the sun off it has a hood (worn down now) it covers her skin. The skirts are part of the reason she likes it. Essentially two skirts with one slit down the sides and one slit down the middle the end result is that movement remains fairly free, but it keeps the sun off her legs.

Fatimah then belts the sword on her back and tries to find Ashara to greet the Reachers with her.

OOC: Am I supposed to say time passes? Anyway this is my "greet the reachers" post.

He had started the work, but he had left her alone to bear its burden. She would ride proudly into Blackhaven. She had been in court long enough how to to do her make up in a way that hid her condition. She pulled out her one of her finer gowns of Emerald colored silk. Should rode tall on her white Palfrey, she was Lady Mara of House Neumann, and even though she was not a queen she would conduct herself with all the dignity of one. As she passed the many small folk, she waved and smiled kindly. They were who Thorin truly died for. To bring them peace and safety.

Bron watches Ashara head off with her aunt. Needless to say, the last thing he needed for her aunt to see was him following her around and then raise a fuss. No doubt even his eyes upon her niece was too much of an offense.

The worst part of it all is he could not speak to her at all. He enjoyed the playful banter they had-and it had been harmless. Bron was not stupid-he knew what Ashara's future held...not him. It did not mean he had to like it however.

In the meantime he would work out a way to get into contact with her, and then he could feel at least he had made an effort. That way she would know there would never be any hard feelings between them.

In the meantime, he would stay 'on duty'. It may be dull, but at least the pay would be good. Assuming they paid him at all...

Ser Hassan and the knights of House Ravenhowe may as well have looked like they were on parade. There were 11 knights present with armor freshly polished, two banners hung behind them. One was the Banner of House Ravenhowe proper, and the second was a Raven's talons, on a field of purple. The Raven's Claws all had their own custom Heraldry upon their shield, reflecting who they were while also indicating what Noble houses they originally hailed from, members of House Steiner, Dayne, Kaldor and Ravenhowe filled their ranks. Judging by the stillness in which they stood they were all quite disciplined.

Edric rode behind the Ashfield entourage. He was their guest and they deserved the attention and tobe in the front. Riding next to he sister, he was taken aback by the attention she was giving the small folk. To Edric they were just common people that could care less about him, but his sister was treating them as if she was there lady, as if they had know who she was all their life.

Riding into the castle's courtyard, Edric attention was drawn to the well organized Raven Claws. He had come to admire them and their bravery. Their charge against the Crown's vanguard was know throughout Westeros and had made them the stuff of legends. If only he could form the Blue Lance into such a respectable.

Removing his helmet and pushing his mangled hair out of his eyes, he position his horse slightly behind Pella such that the Ashfield's were still in front, but still making himself noticeable. He look less for wear after the long travel on the rode and it was clear he would need to clean himself up. He waited patiently for one of the lords to speak.

Ashara returns from her talk with her uncle and takes a moment to fix her hair and adjust her dress before returning to meet up with Fatima and Cyra. She chatters to them, trying to take her mind off her serious discussion with her aunt and uncle.

Ashara curtsies to Cariel when he talks to them and replies "I thank you for telling us, my lord." When he and Ser Selmy have gone, she turns to Cyra and Fatima. "It's been a long time since I've met anyone from the Reach. Not since the invasion, and I was only ten back then. And we were hardly friendly to them." She turns to Cyra, who might not know about the invasion. "In less than a year, the Young Dragon, ruler of the Six Kingdoms, conquered Dorne. It didn't last, but at the time it seemed like it might last forever" she explains. "It was a frightening time. Even more so for me, because I was young and had trouble understanding the politics and battles. To my younger self, King Daeron seemed impossibly powerful and menacing" she says, her voice soft and contemplative. She smiles at her uncle. "I used to get so scared. But my uncle and my father always reassured me."
"Despite everything, I'm curious to meet them. It should be a much happier meeting, now that we're not at war."
She smiles brightly at Cyra and Fatimah. "Come on, my dear sisters! Let's go see." she says cheerfully. She heads off to see the Reach nobles as them arrive. She looks poised and lovely, in an orange dress of Vyraes silk and lace decorated with her family's coat of arms.

She smiles warmly at Bron if she sees him.

Ashara Kolwyn:
She smiles warmly at Bron if she sees him.

Bron tries to hide-which is silly. Like Ashara wanted to hurt him or something. However, he feels his head turn-almost against his will-and smile back at her. I am so stupid. He thinks to himself. He half expected her blasted uncle to charge forth and start trying to kill him again. What he should do is pretend not to notice, or cheer at her passing like no doubt others would. Or maybe just lower his gaze.

However-Bron did not play those games. He had lived in a place where people where truly free to express whatever they felt. True, they where also free  to starve and freeze to death-but they relished life. Bron wondered if he would ever see the place he had been born in. A place that sometimes called to him. He could wear the lightest of clothes, and not feel the chill at all.

He wished he could show Ashara his home. He had told her about it of course, but he lacked the words to fully describe the place. While others had said the southerners where so fragile their blood would freeze in their veins-he knew better. He had swam with her in the ocean, making sure she got to land safely. She did not complain, nor give up, nor scream in terror. She had hidden steel under her features of silk...

"What the hell is wrong with me?" He said, shaking his head. He must be sick, making up bad poetry about a woman.

They have reached the courtyard and the Marcher Lords begin their greeting with their new guests.

Their is another unknown family that stand beside Lord Haryl and his family. They are all very well dressed, a well aged man, a woman who seems to be his wife and four children that all look very much like brother and sisters. Lord Ascar has a grin like he just had his first women and smiles at the lady and her children. Before even greeting the lord he greets the lady, "Lady Vaira I can not say how good it is to see you again after so many years, .... Sister you do look well." "My apologies Lord Haryl, ... very rude of me." Lord Ascar dismounts. "It has been just as long since we have see each other." The lord helps his lady and walks over to shake his hand properly, one warrior to another. "And these fine lords and ladies, .... they do look fit, most be of their fathers blood, ..... Good looking children Lady Dondarrion they have your beauty and his strength." As he slightly bows to them.

OOC: Mind you all from House Ashfield you have no idea about Lord Ascar's sister, and have never meet her, ever, and he has never spoken about her ever. But perhaps Lady Iliria, has knowledge of her, but she too never spoke of Vaira.

Mardax was still trying to clean himself up, but the tears and bloodstains would not come out.  He shook his head, as he heard some cheers and jeers as the Reachmen entered.  Then he heard a slight commotion, and looked over hearing his cousins voice.  He nodded his head to the Reachmen, but jumped out of the cart, and stood up.

"Yes cousin, I am alright.  These fine men were helping me on the last leg of my journey here.  They were kind enough to offer food and water and a lift."  He again nodded to the Reachmen. "Thank you for your hospitality.  I hope to see you all again soon."

With that, he went over to his cousin. "Glad to see you safe.  Sorry for my dishoveled state.  Weeks on the road and over the dunes takes a toll.  Is my father and brother here by chance?"  He asked, nodding his head to his cousin, who could easily see the bloodstain and by his shoulder, and the blade marks on his hard leather.

In reply to Aislin Ravenhowe (msg # 68):

As she looks around at the approaching Reachers, she notices much. For one, their colors, and individual sigils, It seems that House Ashfield has left the first born home on this important trip to Kings Landing. And they travel with their well-known ally, House Neumman.  Also it seems that the Lady Mara Neumann is not well but and is hiding it. She shows her strength and she is a true noble women.

House Dondarrion has an interesting dynamic, the young lord has taken his father place but they seem to both rule, and not together. The house is almost divided but yet they know there roles and play them well. Hearing the exchange she now realizes there is a marriage relation between these houses, making it all even more uncomfortable and she understands why they had a different meet and greet for them.

Mardax looked a bit dismayed by that news, but quickly composed himself once again.  However, his cousin could see the fire, and vengence that was burning behind his eyes.  People would pay.  But now was not the time, no.  There was still much he did not know.

When asked about the wound, he looked down at it, before looking back up.  He just smirked a bit, but leaned in.  The smirk was a ruse, it was bad news.  After whispering to his cousin, he then went back and nodded.  "Well, that would be good I hope.  Some things still.. bother me though."

Guess that was a lot of worry over nothing, but thank the gods he's all right. Fatimah keeps to herself questions about what did happen, its still all very strange.

"Ser Edric Neumann?" Lord Haryl walks up to Eric, then looks over at Mathys, "Ser Mathys Ashfield?" He gives a chuckle, "So it seems the houses travel far but leave they prize home, .... all the first born sons seem missing,....."

'Old Lord Dondarrion' Haryl's father has an excite look on his face, He was much younger and before their families allowed their children to marry they were enemies on the battle field. In fact they were bitter rivals at many things which ended with the command of House Targaryen, demanding the two houses end there indifferences by a marriage. Cariel Dondarrion knows all these houses well, in fact much better than his son, yet he seems much more interested in making good on the Kings request to join in peace. "Good to have all these houses in one place so historic. We all spilled blood for our people and king. Yet we all stand unit under one kingdom and under our king and with the ‘Seven’." “House Ashfield, … House Neumann allow we to introduce House Kolwyn and House Ravenhowe." He then begins to introduce everyone by name. For an old goat he still has his mind.

He turned to his cousin with a nod, but did not speak, as Old Lord Dondarrion began introductions between the four houses.  Historic day indeed, but he was not here for that reason.  Was a good cover, but it might make finding his friend, and the man he set out to find in the first place, harder.  For now, he had to wait.  He wasn't in any condition to do much of anything though he put on a brave face.  He was tired.

As the procession entered the courtyard. Mathys had the look of a cornered animal seeking a way out. His eyes darted from here to there, taking the measure of the place. Despite the brash, and oft times vulgar tongue of the Knight, his mind was a calculating one, in the short term. To him, the world was a tactical display in a constant state of flux.

He had made a promise to himself, for the sake of his House's honor to  keep his natural nature in check, or as much as he could. The Gods knew he meant well. These thoughts  vaporized as his vision snapped to the group of spear armed soldiers that marched towards his House's procession. His hand went to the hilt of his word, and flipped off the leather loop from the hilt. " Men of Ashfield, look to your Lord." Mathys moved to the side of his father and made ready for whatever came to pass.

When it became obvious that it was some sort of honor guard for the Dornish Lord they had picked up upon the road,  Mathys felt less concern, but remained on guard. He was still in battle mode, and guarded his father, never leaving his side for the time being.

Mardax remained silent as the others spoke around him.  He did not wish to draw attention to himself at the moment, given his state, and they were talking about a tournament.  He was not one for displays of martial prowess.  While he could hold his own against ruffians and common soldiers, skilled fighters would rip him apart.  He learned that the hard way, from Brindal...

He closed his eyes, and fought back lashing out in rage that he felt.  How could Brindal fall, and why in such a stupid way?   Sucha  meaningless way.... but.. he might have gotten away?  But why leave him then?  What of the family?  WHY?

He listened as they spoke about the dragonknight, and their prowess vs him.  But his mind was still muddled with the last week.  He deepened his breathing, trying to calm down, stepping behind one of the Ravenhowe knights so he wasn't in direct sight of the other houses currently, growling lightly.

Work together. If we both make it to the end honorably duel, perhaps? Of course, my goal is less victory and more acquitting myself well. It would not do well if people simply concluded you were protecting me, maybe we could work together so I could take a shot at this Dragonknight. Edric couldn't help but grin at Fatimah's enthusiasm at the prospect of fighting in the melee. M'Lady it would be a rare sight to see a Lady of the court to partake in the melee.Outside of Dorne women take on a more passive role and are not trained in the way of combat.A women such as you who is capable of defending her own would draw unneeded attention in the melee and would find a large number of competitors looking to to remove you from the games so their honor might not be tarnish. I will do what I can to help you in the melee, but my sword might only be able to protect you for so long.

The notion of Fatimah fighting in the melee was made more humor-able at the metion of her defeating the Dragonknight, who was perhaps the most skilled swordsmen in all the Realms. The defeat of the Dragonknight at the hands of a Dornish Lady would be a most humbling experience for Aemon Targaryen, and perhaps the gossip of the court for a lifetime.

Edric soon notice Mathys's seclusion from socializing with the other House. While his hatred for the Dorne was well founded, old wounds would need to be closed and what better time then now. waving him over , Edric shouted. Mathys, you father is safe here and has plenty of men willing to lay down their life to save his. Come and join us. What do you say to the Dragonknight being bested by Lady Fatimah.

Edric called him over, and it was obvious that he hesitated, but Mathys finally walked over and nodded to those present. " What are you talking about, Edric? Yes it is, said Edric with a slight stutterer. Superb that is! Blue Hall has one of the finest smiths in the Reach. Edric bowed once more to the Ladies. I am sorry to take my leave so soon, but the journey has been long and hard and I need to wash off the dirt and ware of the journey. I hope to be come better equated with the Ladies of Dorne tonight at dinner.

Taking his leave, Edric made his way over to Mathys and leaned in and whisper something only audible to him.

Mara had warned Mathys with her earlier statements. He maybe a warrior with swords, but she was a warrior with words. If, he wished to look the fool; she would help him all the way. "Mathys of House Ashfield, you speak of loss. I know loss. My beloved Thorin fell while seeking to parlay with the enemy. He was my future. He would of been the father of my children. Do not speak of loss near me. You barely comprehend it. Your true self shows that you despise the lose of opportunity to seize glory. A true man fights to provide protection and security to those he loves, But Mathys, you do not love. So all you know is hate. It is not my place to judge you, so I will leave that to be done by House Dondarrion."

She smiles encouragingly at Fatimah "Fatimah will look very impressive in the tournament, she is the daughter of Hassan Ravenhowe, after all." she replies to her aunt.
"Farewell for now, Ser Edric" she says pleasantly.

Ashara leans over and whispers to Fatimah, smiling mischievously.

But no tracks, no nothing.  How is that even possible!?

When asked about Kings Landing, he looked at his cousin. He seemed to break out of a trance, and answered, his tone very subdued. "Perhaps.  If I find the man I am seeking, then I may.  But for the moment, I don't intend to.  There are threats against our house, and I intend to figure out by who, and why."

"Well enjoy yourselves and one hour after sun set we dine in the main hall altogether."

Old Lord Dondarrion, grinding his teeth as he speaks low to his son, he looks at his son with hate "Take your hand off me or you will face my men instead of the Dornish this evening." Cariel turns away from his son smiling like he just got laid by the best whore in the Stormlands, "Yes Come Princes and Princesses of Dorne, come join me in my house and relax for the evening, dry yourselves and ready yourselves for food and wine."

Bron was unsure what to do. He was not there to protect House Dondarrion, especially from itself. If he intervied, then chances are he would get worse treatment from both nobles. He looked about awkwardly, and then followed wherever Ashara was going off to. At a respectful distance of course. His duty was to protect the children of House Kolwyn, so that is what he would do. He would sort out the mess later-and let House Dondarrion tend to itself.

Re: IC: Gathering of Realms

Mardax listened and watched, as things got slightly tense, before people started to depart, being offered bread and salt for their stay.  He sighed a bit, but decided it might be best to look for this butcher, looking how he does.  People would pay less attention to him that way.  He would have to wait to join the court, at least this time.  His brother sent him here, his brother was not here, and his bodyguard was no where to be found.

If he got into trouble, it could end badly for him.  The court was.. marginally safer, but this could not rest.  The Knights of Ravenhowe were too noble for the type of work that would be required.  Could he Trust Lord Kolwyn?  It was he that knew at least what the plan was for him... or was it just random chance a group of assassins found him on that farm?  It was somewhat close to the keep, and patrols do happen...

Paranoia was growing, as he looked around.  He was sure, at least somewhat, that he could trust Ser Hassan.  He wanted to trust Ashara, and he trusted his direct family, and if alive Brindal.

The rest, were all possible suspects.  He couldn't figure out why, but.. who knows.  Perhaps the Yornwoods put them up to it, hoping to reclaim title and leadership of Dorne?  This union?  But, if it is the Union, why attack Kaldor?  Because of Loyalty to the Martells?

He was missing too many pieces, and he sighed.  At the very least, he needed to let his cousin know what had happened and what was going on.  After that, and perhaps a bed to sleep on, he could continue to look for this man.

Walking over to Ser Hassan, he simply smiled a bit, though his face showed much wear, and eyes shone with many emotions.  "Cousin, would we be able to talk somewhere private, now that everyone is going about their way?  I would still like to get cleaned up, and perhaps a bed to lay upon, and rest my weary body from its hard journey."

Cyra walked back to Ashara's and gave her a luscious smile. "Named Queen of love and beauty? But are Queen already, good sister."

It would seem that the chilled Stormland air and days of hard travel in the rain had finally caught up with Cyra. Her eyes and nose were puffy and her rich bronze skin had a tinge white to it, and, though her voice was always a little husky, her words now had the gravel of a cough. Earlier in the day, when talking with Ser Hassan, his son, Ashara, and Fatima, Cyra excused herself for a hot cup of tea to sooth a headache and had not been seen since. With her yellow silk dress and artfully tousled hair she clearly tried to hide the heavy cold, but despite her best efforts to appear as lively as normal she looked the worse for wear. But she had made the appearance nonetheless. "I hope you not get to much trouble without me. I be most distressed."

Re: IC: Gathering of Realms

The houses of Dorne are welcomed in to the Manor of "Old Lord Dondarrion". He has graciously opened his doors to the houses of Kolwyn, Kaldor, & Ravenhowe. The family member and nobles have been given rooms to share and use. These room are reasonably sized but they are limited. It is not uncommon for brother and sister and children to sleep with parents when space is limited. Within these room are furs and cloth to stay warm at night and the necessities that normally are in a bed chamber. The outer room with windows have fireplaces and the inner rooms have no window and tend to be colder with no form of heat other then furs to crawl under.

There are several hours that pass before the hall is be ready for dinning and the Dorne houses make themselves comfortable the best they can. Once all are settled they are offered food wine and a bath before the same servants escort them through the manor to the hall.

The houses of the Reach are given a great privilege to be allowed in past the first defense into the lower gate house were special guests and the sons and daughters  of the Stormlands stay. Due to relations Lord Haryl Dondarrion has extended his home to Lady Vaira's family, House Ashfield and House Neumann.

The Inner Guest Chambers are much lager then those of the manor but they are shared, due to the number of guests. All the guest rooms have windows and fireplaces and the number of staff tends to there needs bring them the comforts that are expected for nobles.

At the hall, ...

Once the houses are ready the servants take them to the hall which is very large smoky and damp. The stone walls are dark gray, the floor a deep stained wood, the walls are filled with tapestries of events that tell the story of House Dondarrion.

At the far end, .... the head table sit all the members of the House Dondarrion,
Lord Haryl Dondarrion and his wife, Lady Deria of House Caron at center, their childern Luella & Manfred at their mothers side. To the lords left, Haryl's father, Cariel Dondarrion, Lady Loreza of House Yronwood. To the lords right, Menara Dondarrion, her husband Osgred Selmy their son, Ser Ackley Selmy, "The Hammer" and Lady Dalaris of House Mertyns.

At the first table sits Meryn Dondarrion his wife, Lady Vaira of House Ashfield, and their children, Selmond, Jasper, and Olyvar.

The light sounds of wind instruments are heard as all the houses enter at almost the same time, in the hallways outside the doors to the hall several gather and exchange greetings. Then they are ushered in by the servants. The houses and noble of The Reach taking the right side of the lord and the houses of Dorne taking the left.

Their are goblets and trays of salt at the front center table, ...........

Edric made his way to his chambers in the lower gate house. Taking a seat by the fire, Edric summoned a servant to bring him mulled wine and to remove. It felt good to final rest by a fire after then many weeks of travel on the road. After a hot bath, Edric dressed in a jet black tunic with electric blue flowers embroidered on on the cuffs of his sleeves. He also dawned a cloak for the chill of the road still lingered in his bones.

When the time came, Edric went with the rest of the guest to the great hall. Allowing the Ashfields to enter first, Edric followed them up to the center table where wine and salt awaited them. After indulging in guest right, he gave a bow and spoke to the head table. Lord Dondarrion, you are a most gracious host for opening your home to us. Taking a seat next to Mathys, Edric looked on as the other guest took their places.

She looked graceful and elegant entering the hall. She wore a quite pretty green dress of Vyraes silk and lace, decorated with floral patterns. It was cut to hint just a touch and the fit was tighter than usual; Ashara didn't want to appear immodest but she was Dornish. She smiled politely at those she met. After they were seated, she turned to Cyra. "Reach, Stormlands, Dorne. Lords and Ladies are here from quite a stretch of Westeros. It should be a special chance to meet nobles from exotic lands" she said softly.

She looked around to make sure Mardax was there.

Fatimah took the spare time she had to exercise, stretch and drill before changing back into her dress. White, practical and relatively modest the dress was designed to keep the Dornish sun from cooking your skin off. Contrasting with Ashara the dress is loose, but light hanging hinting at the outlines of her shoulders, chest and arms. When she sits down though some of her calves and ankles show, despite the normally overlapping skirts.

Its occurred to me that during the Melee, unless people already know about me, I'll probably just look like a boy trying to seek glory, especially to anyone who isn't familiar with Dornish women. Which I suppose technically would be helpful, but it would deny me the chance of embarrassing the people who don't like a woman fighting.  What do you think?

Edric partook in the food and drink, but the feast seemed rather dull. Having spent many weeks traviling with the same companions, there was little left for them to talk about in public. Raising and addressing the younger members of the Reach. Come, our king commands use to make friends with the people of Dorne, and I cannot think of a better chance to do so then over food and drink. Placing a hand on Mathys shoulder. And who knows, maybe we can a flower in the sand for the bitter.

Making his way over to where Ashara and Fatimah sit, Edric grins at the sound of continued talks of the melee. It seems Lady Fatimah mind can only think of future glory on King's Landing. Nodding to an open spot on the bench, May I sit and join?

Bron left the wine alone. After all, he was part of the guard and needed to keep his wits sharp. Of course, the only danger Ashara and her family would be in was death by dull convesation, which Bron could offer no defense against.

While he enjoyed watching Ashara in her fine dress, he realized he was not suited to 'noble' life. All that pointless chit chat would lull him to sleep after the first half an hour. Less if he had been drinking. Still, at least the food was good. One does not get honey cakes and fine sauces for the meat in any roadside inn.

The Raven's Claws were dressed in the finery of their own houses with a distinguishable Surcoat signaling their Allegiance to the knight house. The level of hostility in the hall made Edric nervous. They were suppose to be at peace, but it seem the there was always the threat of a dagger in the back. Taking a sip of wine from his goblet, he decided in would indulge in the Ladies's request.

Well I suppose I can tell you about the day I earned my right to stand my vigil and take the vows of knighthood. I was 17 and a squire for my Uncle, Ser Fredrick Connighton .We had returned to Griffin's Roost from Dorne to deal with a border skirmish with another house who thought they could claim more land with force of arms. On our way to the border of Connington lands we were ambushed and Ser Fredrick was struck with a few arrows and fell from his horse. I stood by his wounded body and fought of wave after wave of foolish men who sought to advance themselves by taken my taken my Lord's life. The battle seemed to have no end as more and more ambushiers joined the battle. Eventually Connington's men began to break and run. Taking my Lord's banner in my hand, I rode the line and rallied then men. We were able to push back the attack and not only save Ser Fredrick's life, but also save the day.

Noticing that his actions have drawn the attention of his family. Edric raised his goblet in toast to them. Turning his attention back to the ladies, Now I spend my days hunting down bandits in my land and returning peace back to my people.

He reaches back for his wine and raises his goblet, "To our guests, Welcome to the Stormlands, .... As a Marcher Lord, Guardian of the Pass, and  Lord of Blackhaven, I invite the Dorne Princes and their noble lords to share in the customary Guest Rights, ... we will share in salt, break bread and dine."

The noble members of House Dondarrion raise from their seats to pay their respects. "Old Lord Dondarrion" Haryl's father, also comes around the table uninvited and stand by his son, "I too will share salt and break bread with those that I once called enemies, let it be known that we soon share the same faith under of King and Targaryen rule."

He would as soon light the place on fire, and let the flame have the men and women of Dorne. So, Mathys decided to have some diversion, with one of the serving women of the place. He would seek to find a suitable wench, that was pleasing to the eyes and attempt to get her into a closet or some other out of the way place, to have sport with her. The Knight would offer her a few coins for her time. If he could not fight, he would fuck, his  current ill temper away.

After some time of talking and politicking a man clad in the trappings of the Dondarrion stood up and clapped his hands at the top of the stairs before the throne and it's table. Music began to fill the hall as he announced to the guests that Lord Dondarrion cordially invites you to enjoy a dance within his halls to celebrate this new found Alliance.

When this was announced Ser Edric noticed Ser Ackley Selmy heading toward Fatimah with a certain expression on his face which gave the reachman a limited amount of time should he wish to ask her to dance.

Ashara being attractive as she was had a number of Male nobles eyeing her, some like a prize, others with potential romantic intentions at heart.

Altair Fowler couldn't help but notice that some of the girls of the Dondarrion house were smiling and winking at him the lucky devil.

Bron was approached by a Dondarrion serving girl who placed her hand on his shoulder and was gesturing to him to lower himself so she could whisper in his ear over the music.

The meal had ended and the time had come for the festivities to begin. Edric surveyed the Hall looking to see if Mathys had returned. Maybe dancing with a beautiful lady would sooth his anger, but he could not be found. Edric did notice Ser Ackley movements. Downing his goblet, Edric wiped his mouth and made his way over to Fatimah. Arriving just behind Ackley, he put his arm around the man's shoulder. Ser Ackley it would be a great honored for you to offer my sister to a dance. Bealor the blessed said that she was the beauty of the realm. Offering his hand to Fatimah. M'lady, it is a common sight for those fighting together for the first time to trip over each other feet.  I would be greatly honored if you join me in dance so I might get a taste of your footwork and put my fears to rest.

Dondarrion Herald:
Bron was approached by a Dondarrion serving girl who placed her hand on his shoulder and was gesturing to him to lower himself so she could whisper in his ear over the music.

Bron nodded at the serving girl. smiling. He nodded to one of the guardsmen to fill in while he would proceed to get a meal. It had been part of the routine rotation-and he was not planning to go far. "Lead on, then." He said, nodding to her.

Ashara smiled at her admirers and waited to see if any of them would be bold enough to ask her to dance.

She leaned in to whisper to Fatimah
She turned to Ser Edric and teased "Enjoy yourselves preparing for the tournament, you two."

She looked fondly at Bron when he went to the dance floor. Good, he deserves to have a fun time after all the trouble my family have put him through lately. For a moment, though, she had to suppress a twinge of jealousy towards the serving girl. Jealous, me? Impossible. It must have been something else. She smiled at the two to encourage them to dance.

Mardax had arrived late.  His movements were swift and with purpose, as he came into the party, dressed in his house colors, his eyes tracking the movements of the hall.  He had to be careful, but he would be damn if he would not dance with the one person he had been thinking about for weeks.

There!  He smiled, happy for a change, as he strode over to Ashara and company, and bowed.  "Ladies, you all look stunning this evening.  But, I do believe, if you are still interested, I owe you a dance, Lady Ashara, with interest.  I would like to pay my debt now, unless you like having me owe you something."  He asked her, his eyes meeting hers as he held out his hand, smiling.

Bron enjoys a woman on his arm as he escourts her to the dance floor. Despite his size and strength-Bron was more agile than he looked. He was not a clumsy brute with two left feet. Granted, he does look at Ashara every once in a while. It was his duty to keep her safe of course. No doubt the pretty girl he was dancing with would forgive that. He whispers in her ear even as he moves her around the floor.

Smiling, and escorting Ashara to the floor, he smiled lightly at her.  "I hope I live up to expectations."  He stated, looking into her eyes while she teased him about persuading him to dance again.  "Be careful what you wish, my lady.  It might be granted." Fatimah has a mix of feelings swirling about in her head, anxiety from dancing without her sword in a strange place, worried about screwing up the dance, worried about Edric's safety in the melee, feeling protected by Edric while dancing. She knows mentally the last two are silly and probably a very good reason to never, ever do this with someone she plans on fighting beside in a real battle. In reply to Ashara Kolwyn (msg # 233):

He did force a thin smile, in way of a response to her words. " Yes, that is what this is all about, Lady. Or so I have been informed, on several occasions." Mathys began to lead her in  the current dance. He held her not to close, nor to far. He had promised his father he would be on his best behavior, for the remainder of the event. His body stance was at first stiff, but she was beautiful, even if of Dorne. But then he found himself starting to enjoy himself, in spite of his general soured disposition.

Re: IC: Gathering of Realms

Edric return to the hall and looked towards the side filled with the Reachmen in the hopes of finding Mathys. He was surprised to see that Mathys was not there next to his father, and he was shocked to see that he was dancing with Ashara, a Dornish women, when he surveyed the whole hall looking for him. Well he finally intermingling with the Dornish so best not get him fired up since he seems to finally enjoying himself. Edric thought to himself. He was about to go and resume his dance with Fatimah when Pella caught his eye. He had completely forgotten about her and most likely upsetting her by not offering her the first dance of the night. Going to her, he offer her his hand to dance and they made their way to the dance floor. An awkward tense seem to be between them as the finally danced.

Re: IC: Gathering of Realms

OOC: So I would like a player re-cap; list all the events as they see them. Basically a review in IC and post in the words and eyes of your PC. This is to help me on my next post and close out this IC to start the next chapter of the game. Players should also say what they plan to do so I can help finish off with NCs. You should post as the feast is coming to a close, feel free to take over NCs other than "Old Lord Dondarrion" Haryl's father, and Osgred Selmy husband to Menara.

Re: IC: Gathering of Realms

Before.
Altair  had entered the hall as head of House Ravenhowe's guard. He was pleasently surprised to be brought with his lord to the table with the other nobles. Later at the dance, a girl agreed to dance with him, only to tell him she had done so on instructions so he could pass a message from "The Butcher" to contact Mardox Kaldor, Ser Eric Neuman and Ser Mathys Ashfield to meet secretly, for the good of all inclulding his own lord. He was chosen because he was unknown, for the same reason he mixed the names a bit. But he got the message across.
Now.
Altair approaches the girl who had danced with him before. He smiles. "May I have the pleasure just this once more?" He leads her onto the dance floor. He holds her close and whispers in her ear. "Don't worry. I am sure people will think I fancy you to ask you again." He turns her, and takes her in his arms again. "So where can we agree to meet? I would expect you to bring your 'butcher'."

Edric enjoyed himself at the feast. He used the time to find friends within the Dornish party and spent some time conversing and dancing with Lady Fatimah, much to the distaste of his family and friends. The dancing ended for a time as Mardax pulled him aside to talk about meet someone who took interest in both of them. Edric returned to the and finished out the night dancing with Pella Ashfield.

Re: IC: Gathering of Realms

The second son, the current black sheep, as far as his family was concerned, enjoyed the dance. He would of thanked the Lady of Dorne, then returned to sit beside his father.

The entire episode did little to relieve the continued dour disposition of the man, known as Mathys Ashfield. In truth, he could not explain his feelings, he just knew he felt a sense of loss. War had been a grand adventure, filled with excitement and terror. The conflict had tested Mathys to his limits, and he found he was good at it. He had heard those that used certain substances to cause feelings of euphoria, and then where denied it, had such feelings as he was experiencing. The Seven only knew,if he would recover from this sense of profound loss, with the passage of time, perhaps. However, Mathys would strive to maintain his word to his father, and act the proper son.

Re: IC: Gathering of Realms

Ashara had enjoyed herself greatly at the dance, the more so since her dear cousin seemed to have enjoyed herself too, although she had missed Bronn's company and was unhappy she had not been able to speak to him. She had finally danced with Mardax, and was pleased to do so.

Ashara danced with Mathys, letting him lead. She was gracious and friendly when they spoke, genuinely curious about the Reach and its ways. "It was my pleasure." she replied when he thanked her. "I enjoyed your company, my lord, and I wish to speak with you again before we leave Blackhaven" She bade him farewell with a graceful curtsey and a kiss on the cheek.

When Mathys left to sit with his father and Mardax finished speaking to those he wished to, Ashara danced with Mardax again. "Is all well, my lord? It puts me in quite a conundrum... I must hope that you enjoy my company enough that only a serious matter would take you away from me, and yet I cannot hope you are in any serious situation" she said, before adding "I tease, of course. I am not bothered, I am happy to have you with me again and I hope you feel the same."

Ashara Kolwyn:
Ashara smiled fondly at Fatimah, pleased to see her cousin looking so happy. She leaned in to whisper back to her. "You two looked very sweet together. I bet every boy here is jealous of Ser Edric. And you will make quite a pair in the tournament. Although it is a shame you have to hide that pretty face and hair of your under a helmet."

"You seem a bit flustered... are you thinking Edric might be... more than a one-time dance?"

"I hope so. Anyway, I wouldn't want to get it wrecked in the battle field. I'll have plenty of time at dances and the joust to show it off. "

As Ashara gets pulled into a dance again she looks out. Back to watching for dangers. Looking at the mood. Mayths seemed to enjoy his dance. It was the kind of thing that melts animosity. Good. Ashara seemed happy. Her dance Edric was wonderful. A partner for the Melee. This was a good time. Maybe peace would break out.

In reply to Caladin (msg # 244):

Once Bron is sure that is guard position is relieved, he heads downstairs with the charming Kimberbly Storm. Bron then proceeds to dance with her among the servant's party. Maybe not as fine and refined, but certainly more lively and stirring in song and dance.

Re: IC: Gathering of Realms

OOC: OK so I'm looking for finial notes and posting on this thread and before Friday we will start a new thread.

Keep in mind that the group leaves in the morning so post accordingly. The lords and ladies can interact freely with PC so if your looking to get something done and your want, .... you can post on behave of NCs for this ending of the party. This means you can exit with any NC of your chosen even if the intent is to bed one or etc. NO details needed please, also you can detail who saw you leave with who. Could make for interesting future storylines.

Lastly there are no events the spark a fight or anything what creates combat so keep the posting within this line and we should be good. Enjoy this free play time you can make so cool stuff happen if you wish, ...

including a bastard for future play :) .... just an idea, if anyone's interested.

Mathys would excuse himself in the course of time, and make his way to where the Garrison trained. He would seek out someone in authority, and seek permission to get   some sword practice in. They had been upon the road for days, and he felt he needed to maintain an edge, so did martial training whenever possible.

Altair goes to find Ser Hassan, and tell him of all that has happened and makes him aware of the meeting to come. He goes to his room for the night. He sits on his bed and looks at his left hand with it's missing little finger. "It's a good job I don't need you. I can play my pipes without you!" He goes to bed.

Re: IC: Gathering of Realms

So the vents of the evening unfold the respective house take their leave form the dinning hall. As the wine and drink become heavy the mood lightens and the houses for the most part have given way to either their hosts, or guests.

RECAP

Lord Haryl & Lady Deria seems to be at odds especially with regards to their extend family members and having the Dornish at their table. But they don't show themselves to be poor hosts.

Osgred Selmy & Lady Menara Selmy have been focus on their son and simple matter of none importance. In fact they almost stay out of the way unless drawn in by others.

Ser Ackley Selmy he has shown a respectful interest in Lady Fatimah Ravenhowe, its clear that he enjoys the fact that she is a lady that understands the sword.

Cariel Dondarrion The rumors of this man are true, he is rude at times, out spoken and clearly lost his position in the house, but he is tring to hang on to the little power he has, and he does so with a strong tight grip. No love loss for his son or those he often refers to as useless.

The rest of the house hold and family member has been what was expected of them and little too nothing out of the ordinary can be said (openly).

Behind the senses;

Lady Dalaris Dondarrion she is much more then what she lets others see, on the surface a proper lady, and she knows much more then she lets on too. It's with out to say that there will be more form this lady.

'The Butcher' The mysteries person who calls himself The Butcher, known in dark circles to have not only information about assassins but he himself a network of spys. Still none of the party knows who he is but Blackhaven seems to be a base of his operations.

OOC: you can post and finial comments and this IC will be closed.

Ashara finished the night by kissing Mardax on the cheek and telling him that it had been a true pleasure to dance with him and she hoped to see him again at the tournament. After she left the dance, she found Bron and checked to make sure he'd enjoyed the party. Before she went to bed, she was sure to tease Fatimah about her new 'suitor' Edric.
