Nellis Air Force Base: Hanger 3

Joint finds Major Peterson in the hanger that the civilians had been moved out of. Nobody seems to mind as Joint entered the hanger, which has now become living space for the law enforcement and military personnel. One area in the corner has some bedridden people lying on cots.

The Major is in full battle dress wearing body armor, armed with both a pistol and an assault rifle from the M-16 family of weapons. Joint overhears what is being said as the Major points to several points on a map of the base. Most of the base has been shaded red.... “Ok we gotta hold barricades 14, 10, and 12 for just two more days. By this time tomorrow the transports will be back, and as soon as they land they’ll be prepped for a near immediate turn around. Once they go those of us still hear will head out to Area 51.” The major goes on for a few more minutes answering questions from the troops. The troops then disperse to wherever they are going.

The Major sees Joint and directly ask the much bigger man a question. “What the fuck are you still doing here? I figured you would have stolen something and be gone by now.”

[Private to Arani Vasingis: Yes, you kinda know that the base is slowly being overrun by the Zombies, every day the military troops lose a little bit of ground as the Zombie get past a particular barricade. But it has been decided the less the civilians know, the less panic there will be.

You can walk up and join the convo if you want.

OOC: Ugh... sorry. Thought i replied.

Arani took a deep breath and crossed her arms as the Major began talking to Joint. It was time to speed this up a little and skip past the usual routine.

- "Going by that map, i'd say it don't matter none. Just send us to whatever barricade needs more guns the most and we'll go over the details later."

She then turned to Joint.

- "'Preciate you wanting to help, but if you're going to bail out, this is your last chance to. If you're coming with, you're in it for the long run."

She looked at the Major.

- "That about right, sir?"

Before Joint can speak to the Major the snippy little pig opened her mouth and spouted out some non sense to Joint that he gave absolutely no shit about.

"Major Peterson, I am aghast that you would think a man of my integrity would stoop to such levels.  From what I can recall, you and I had come to a semi arrangement after our brief interview.
And by the looks of your little monopoly map here things are going as per our discussion in the ol C-block.  I know you said to wait till you and your boys are gone and then I could have my fill of your fantastic gear and I respect that.  But what I am looking for now is a little different, you see amazingly I made some friends and we number around seven total.  Some of your minions came asking who was staying and who was going.  We are choosing to stay, I was hoping being that your such a giving guy that you might help us out or let us help you so we could help ourselves if you know what I mean.  Lets just say theoretically that one of these barricades is a building that perhaps has some usable vehicles and supplies that my associates and I could have if we helped hold off the zombies and help you and the boys get safely outta here in two days if I heard correct.  Well Major that would be mutually beneficial would it not.  Hell there might even be a building that has all we need that we could maybe help take back.  Major I am just ran commercial job sites so I don't know much about all this military stuff but I think what I am offering is a win win for you and a small group of citizens.  This is unfortunately a situation where we have lost many people and I am not taking lite of that but we are gonna lose more as I am sure you are aware."

Joint never glanced at Arani the whole time his glance fixed calmly on the Major with a expression clearly waiting for an anwser

The Major look at Joint, then to the nearby cop. "OK look I can give you an MRAP with a full gas tank, a few boxes of MRE's and about 50 gallons of water." He looks to Arani. "I want an accurate number of his friends and they can each get an 'em sixteen or nine millimeter too."

"There's one catch and there is really no way to force you to do it but I can still ask. There's some sort of cult up at the Hoover Dam, I sent a few guys in but I've heard nothing from them. You and you friends don't look or act military so I'm pretty sure you can get in and check things out."

"There are reports of cults like this popping up all over and we need more info on them. I can give you a satellite phone to call in what you find, and if you use the correct codes we can resupply you from the air a few times."

Joint was about to interject the Major, just as Joint went to speak over the Major.  Well needless to say Joints mouth was hanging open like a mason jar.  Once the Major was done Joint rolled his head in a comedic fashion towards Arani.

"Well there law Dog whadda yeah say we take up this fine little offer before the Major suffers a mental relapse..hhhmmmm?"

Looking back to Major Peterson, Joint stands to attention as best as he knows how and gives a quick salute.

"Major Peterson I cannot speak for the whole group, but I think we could look into your Hoover Dam problem.  As I said earlier, you are helpin me and so I know I won't mind helping you."

The Major just gives Joint a bad look when he salutes. "Let me know how many friends you got, and I can have everything set up before the dun gets up."

Arani gave Joint a quick nod.

- "Yeah, but i'm only heading out once the last chopper leaves. I don't think you've seen how bad it gets over at the barricades, and i'd hate to leave a job half finished."

Joint shrugs his shoulders in a dismissive way, clearly in Arani's direction.

"Whatever Lady, I am just glad that Major Peterson is being so obliging."

Speaking to the Major again.

"Major Peterson would you be willing to let me start going over the MRAP mechanically now and Arani can give you the logistics of our little party.  Scouts honor I won't try anything shifty, you see I kinda like the little Nubian princess and her pals here and I wanna just make sure the vehicle is sound.  Also what is your estimated time of departure.  How long or how far will radio's be able to reach you.  And if we can't how can we let you know your boys are safe or not safe?  Haven't had this kinda fun in awhile.  And like I said you are being more then fair here, also I know this is why some of them got in shit when we arrived myself included."

Joint's questions kinda flew off the handle and he knew he was throwing a lot at the Major right now.

"I haven't picked one out yet, and I'm not going short change you. You can check the MRAP out before leaving if you want." He then tried to answer the other questions as best he could. "There is no telling how long the satellites will remain running, probably for years. You'll be able to recharge the sat phone from the MRAP. We won't be here for any longer then a few days. Either the air convoy gets back from alaska and gets us or we bug out to Groom Lake."

In reply to Darkside Trooper (msg # 9):

Catching the Major's look a little late Joint takes his hand down quickly.

"Major, one last request and I think it may play into a bit more safety for you and your men.  When you come to get us, maybe make it look like we are in trouble for breaking one of the codes if you know what I mean.  That way the unrest might not be so bad, peoples minds are already uneasy.  But with that being said, with your permission I will go let the gang know whats up."

With that Joint waited for Arani's response or que's and also the Major's.  He was more then aware that he had pushed his luck to a absolute breaking point.  Hell he had ended up in Solitary for less then this.

In reply to Joint (msg # 10):

"Sure we'll round you and your friends up as the anarchists that you are." From his tone of voice Joint can't tell if the major is being serous or sarcastic.

- "Hate to interrupt the friendly chat here, but didn't we have a barricade to reinforce?"

Arani had been listening to the conversation, though felt the need to step in. They were wasting too much time, and if the barricade didn't hold they wouldn't be able to pick up a damn thing trying not to get eaten in the process.

- "Need help with that?"

Arani crossed her arms and shrugged, the offer being on the table. Or at least, it still was. That the Major hadn't reacted to it at first might have been deliberate or it might have been stress, but either way she wasn't one to take the first opportunity to turn tail and run. She had volunteered, and she took her work seriously.
