Hi Guys, I have a Twilight 2000 2.2 game looking for some players. I am pretty open on type of characters and now would be a good time to jump in as they have just secured the boat and are looking to arm and armour it. Thanks.

I have the Twlight 2013 book is that edition too much different from Twlight 2000 2.2?

Also I still have some room in my Expanse game for those who may be interested.

No it is not that different and I have a pdf. If you are interested we could really use the players and I've been thinking about your Expanse game a lot recently as a GM ghosted who ran three of the campaigns I was in so I will send a RTJ. Thanks.

Re: OOC 2 (Questions? Complaints? Ideas?)

There are only 3 active players in this game and now is a good time to ask where does everyone want to take the game from here?

Some ideas I have. I can use some of these ideas we do not go with to write characters (PC/NPC) out of the game too.
  • Get a ride out on a USAF C-130 out of Groom Lake, destination Alaska. I am sure I can have some interesting adventures occur with the plane crashing. Or we do a several month (or a year) time skip? Not 100% sure what to do from there, but I got some ideas.
  • Stick around in the Las Vegas area, maybe do a several month (or a year) time skip? Not 100% sure what to do from there, but I got some ideas.
  • An adventure to travel cross country/across the Atlantic? One character is from England and may want to try to get home. Another character has family in New Orleans, and a third is from NYC.
  • End the game (insert frown face here) and maybe start up a Beyond the Supernatural Game. Yes you can recycle your character into this possible game.

If we continue the game, I will probably try to recruit more players.

To be honest I am happy to go with the majority of the other players or even what the GM wants to do. My preference would be to stay in the Las Vegas area for a time and then try to make it back home cross country ?

That being said I also like the idea of a supernatural campaign as well.

You know I could incorporate elements of Beyond the Supernatural into this game after a time skip. We’d end up with a blending of the two games.

Another idea I’ve been kicking around is a Chaos Rifts game set 50 years after the cataclysm occurred.

Re: OOC 2 (Questions? Complaints? Ideas?)

If we were going to kick off a supernatural campaign I would probably create a new character or advance J.P's age and career to something helpful. I like the idea of a old city being the setting like London, Paris etc.... gives it more of a dark and ominous feel, but that's probably just me.

I lived in London on and off for most of my life and it always felt like something could be going on just under the surface....

Dying Stylishly Games have a really cool setting called "Esoteric Enterprises" which could be the sand box on top of the supernatural rules.

In reply to Jonathan Pembersley (msg # 424):

I could have more seen us getting a ride on a C-130 if we'd have even brought back one of the kidnapped personnel because they would wait for one of their own. Hanging around LV is fine, I'm not in favour of a time-skip. If Jonathan were to want to return home that would be fun, at least escorting him to an airport or seaport the east coast (or maybe west coast if it's a long-range transport).

I was enjoying this game but if you feel it's run the course for now, I'd be happy with changing gears and games.

I'd be interested in a Beyond the Supernatural game. What did you have in mind for this? I'd be ok with porting over characters, not sure about a blended game?

A blended game would be one where the players begin to manifest psychic powers as per Beyond the Supernatural. But I'd still feel like we'd be in the conundrum where its either killing/running away from zombies or killing humans with bad morals.

The Beyond the Supernatural (BTS) game would be the third time I've tried to run such a game, but I think this time I have a good idea of what to do for the plot/story. I am thinking of allowing some characters to use the various martial arts from Ninjas & Superspies, based on their occupation. But I'd remove the 'ninja magic' stuff. As I had done in a previous BTS game, I'd allow 1 or 2 characters to be mystics and be able to use magic.

Overall, the idea I have for the BTS game is that it would be kinda like a spy/political thriller, but with action, kinda like a Tom Clancy novel.

Re: OOC 2 (Questions? Complaints? Ideas?)

In reply to Darkside Trooper (msg # 426):

I don't mind games where you are running from or fighting zombies. It can be fun! Cymon and I played for years in a Twilight 2000 game (Pirates of the Vistula) where all we were doing was moving from one conflict to the next. (I tend to think fighting other survivors in post-apocalypse games is overdone, although I do like the cult in this game as I think they are more interesting than the surprise-cannibals and smirking/sociopathic overlords/warlords/bad guys in Walking Dead/Fear the Walking Dead.) I've been running another zombie game where rebuilding is the primary theme but the zombies are always out there, along with various survivor factions vying for control or survival (although not all or even most people, even gangs, are necessarily hostile).

Probably the focus would have to be more be on community building, restoring governance and civil order. The best zombie game I've been in was we were playing part of a National Guard unit that was training at Ft. William Harrison in MT. We were a mobile Civil Affairs Team locating survivor groups and communities, surveying and documenting them, and providing assistance in preparation for a transition to democratic civilian governance from a state of Martial Law and military rule. (And these communities often had serious internal or external problems that we needed to take care of ourselves as we were frequently days or weeks out from base and communication wasn't always reliable.) This model does tend to be radically different than most post-apocalypse games, where government has been completely extinguished above the local community/group level (if that remains at all) but in it's favour, it was different! Our PCs are not soldiers, but could be part of a new civilian government or police organisation that is reconstituting itself in the state capitol, Carson City.

BTS is about the supernatural, makes sense! Either we'd be part of some clandestine organisation (government, military or corporate/mercenary/freelance) or maybe informal or ad hoc "Hunters" a la Supernatural?

As a GM I am not all too confidante that' I'd be able to run a 'community building game'.

I am pretty sure I could run a Dead Reign game where the players are traveling cross country.

There are a number of organizations present in the BTS universe, but I would create a 'Supernatural Busting Agency' using the Crome Buster Agency template from Ninjas & Super spies. I'd take some input from players on the creation of the agency.

We would be using second edition, but incorporating magic from 1st edition.

Re: OOC 2 (Questions? Complaints? Ideas?)

In reply to Darkside Trooper (msg # 429):

I run a game set in the UK that is centred around community building and it does require a certain GM and players who are into bookkeeping. That's not my style. I started as co-GM and finally took over the game after the first GM ghosted, the second GM (a close friend) died and the third GM ghosted. The focus became more on exploration, survivor contact, resource gathering, providing critical assistance to friendly communities and groups, neutralising various AGM (Anti-Government Militias) and ending various reprehensible practices (such as forced or coercive breeding, aka "mass rape" like the model adopted by the rogue army unit in 28 Days Later). This is how the game I was in years ago (the one involving the Montana National Guard) eventually shook out. Both games had a bit of a "cheat" in that there was some kind of surviving (if minimal) authority to answer to and receive orders/directives from, in the former the surviving UK central government in quarantine on the Isle of Wight and in the latter the unit HQ and provisional military government. So in essence both evolved into "travel" games and had nothing to do with actual settlement and resource management.

Regarding BTS, a private investigation group specialising in (and employing) supernatural elements seems fine! Perhaps employed by private citizens, corporations, various levels of government, etc. Openly or clandestinely.

Re: OOC 2 (Questions? Complaints? Ideas?)

I intend the BTS game to be one where all the initial PC's know and work for the same private supernatural investigation group. I want to avoid the characters being part of a big name organization, but that does not mean that would make an appearance.

I think what I am going to do is create the BTS game and if there is quite a bit of player joins (about 6 total) we'll end this game. If there is little or no player interest, we will move forward with this game and have the player characters either travel across country or be the 'gatherers' for a survivor community.

Game created: link to another game

I am actually asking players what location/era they want the game to be in.

Also, if anyone isn't going to port their character(s) over, I'd like to use some of the character here (might need to tweak them a bit) as NPC's and colleges, or acquaintances of the player characters.
