Episode 1:  Elegy
It is Friday, September 5, at the end of a work day, and many Exalted in the Fort Worth area spend some time at the end of the week at Callahan's.  By the time you arrive at the bar, it is 95 degrees and about 40% humidity.  Callahan's itself it tucked down an alley near the Stockyards.  The structure of the building is concrete, but the door itself is an old, faded wood.  A brass plaque above the door reads "Established 1842."

The interior is dim, with only two windows by the front door.  Crossing the threshold one can feel a prominent sense of peace, and it's always cool and a little damp regardless of the outside (With Occult 3 and above, you know that this an Earth Aspected Manse).  The floor is wooden, warped with age and the track of many footsteps, but the tables are fairly new (old enough to be antique, not so old as to be dangerous) and polished.  Despite obvious age, Callahan's is always clean and tidy.  The place is lit with sconces designed to look like gas lamps, though they're not actually gas ().  The surface of the bar itself fairly gleams under the light.  Alcohol of any kind imaginable lines the shelves behind it.  Above and to the right of the bar is a television, angled to be viewable by all, and as you enter, it's currently set to the local evening news.

The proprietor, the current Callahan, stands behind the bar.  She's tall and fairly muscular, and appears to be of Native American descent.  She wears a white blouse and jeans, and no jewelry except for a copper wristwatch, of plain design but too large for most fashions.

The other patrons are a mix of local Exalts--mostly Terrestrials employed by mortals who try to keep their powers secret--and a handful of those visiting on business.

Re: Episode 1:  Elegy
Simone enters the bar, gives a nod and a charming smile to anyone who makes eye contact, saunters up to the bar and orders a gin and tonic.

Today, she's wearing tall black boots and a black-and-pink striped ankle-length skirt that matches her pink spiked 'hair', and a black cami tank top that shows off her extensive full body silver tattoos.  Her tattoo designs include interlocking wave patterns, skeletal motifs, and a large pair of wings reaching across her shoulders and well down her arms.

Simone had been meaning to come here for some time, since Laytra mentioned it to her in fact, but between her work and her time spent in communion with her new deity, she hadn't yet found the time. But she doesn't have to be on air tonight, due to a scheduling error. Good thing, too. She wouldn't have enjoyed changing into Simon's skin on this particular day.

So she had decided that finally making some additional contacts with her own kind was a worthwhile activity for the night. Thanking Callahan with a smile and a wink, she sips her drink and scopes out the room.

Re: Episode 1:  Elegy
The door flies open to admit Winston, who catches it without allowing them to hit the wall. Trudging heavily in his boots, he walks up to the end of the bar and quietly asks for a cold one. Sweat rolls down his tanned arms, and he radiates the heat from outside into the cool of the bar as he settles into a stool, which somehow fails to creak under his weight . He thanks Callahan when he gets his beer, glances around the room with eyes as blue as the sky, but finally settles his gaze on a lamp.

It had been a long day at work, betrayed not only by weariness but also by faint smell of singed hair. After the fun Winston had when one of the mechanics botched a repair job on a helicopter engine, he simply wishes to unwind before returning home.

Re: Episode 1:  Elegy
Simone scratches a quick message into her phone's Lunar Network app. "At the Chosen bar in Ft. Worth, TX. Meetup anyone?"

She then pockets the phone and glances over at the newcomer. She feels like she's seen his face before... somewhere. She sips at her drink.

There was a news story she had skimmed over recently, about a new, incredibly young innovator rapidly rising to power in the area's largest and most powerful corporation. Rising to power almost suspiciously fast. This one's face had been all over the article. Well, if he was here at Callahan's then at least that last part could be explained. Simone slides out of her chair and goes to lean against the bar next to the newcomer.

"You're Winston Lon, aren't you? With Lockheed Martin?"

Winstonís eyes come back into focus as he slowly swivels his head towards the stranger. He tilts his head slightly, curiosity poking through his weariness.
ďIíve been named so. You must have read about meÖ in the paper I believe? Or have we met before? Iím afraid your name has slipped my mind.Ē

Re: Episode 1:  Elegy
Alex has taken the night off to try and learn more about the other people like him. He learned about Callahan's from an... acquaintance.

He parks his motorcycle at the corner of the bar where it is easily reachable from the door but not in plain view to anyone entering the bar. He is wearing a v-neck t-shirt with jeans and Sperry's. This outfit does not allow him to carry his gun, but he has two knives strapped to each of his ankles. Not having had a contract in awhile, he's had the time to comb his hair and shave.

Before he goes inside he loiters outside, pretending to smoke a cigarette and watching those who enter. A woman with prominent silver tattoos catches his eye as she enters and many of the others seem to have some kind of aura. Finally, he tosses away the unsmoked cigarette and enters the bar. The bar tender catches his eye as he enters, but he steers away from the bar to lean against the wall near the exit.

In reply to The Storyteller (msg # 1):
Shane pulls up to the bar, he's heard about it from his former mentor as a highlight of the area scene.  As he pulls in he notices another motorcycle in the parking lot and nods approvingly at the make as he passes.  He finds a parking spot somewhere secluded and heads over.

Shane opens the door slowly, scanning around the room to take in all the patrons. After a quick check of the surroundings he makes his way to the bar and orders a large flight of local beers, as he always enjoys discovering local brews. After getting the beer he turns to watch the television, downs a few of the tasters and orders a pint of his favorite, occasionally pulling out his phone to read something but not actually returning any messages.  As he keeps scanning his phone his expression gradually sours.

Alex has also sent Giles off to scout the exterior of the bar. The ermine stays outside and Alex spares a moment to share the ermine's view of the outside.

Alex notices the woman with tattoos talking to a man at the far end of the bar.

In reply to Winston Lon (msg # 5):

"Oh we've never met, I've only read about your extraordinary success. And I don't expect someone as influential as you would have heard of, well, someone like me." She smiles sardonically and tips her glass in Lon's direction. ""It's Geier. Simone Geier."

Re: Episode 1:  Elegy
Winston looks up at this Simone. "The pleasure is mine." He scratches his chin thoughtfully, and glances for just a moment at her pink hair and the tattoos that trail down her arms. "Some find the industry inspirational, after a fashion. Did you enjoy reading those articles?" He slowly straightens his back a little.

In reply to Winston Lon (msg # 10):

"Oh, I'm much more interested in the people behind the scenes. I want to get to know the community, make connections." She glances around. "I had no idea there were so many of us..." She finishes her drink and turns to Callahan, motioning for another, biting her lip and smiling at her.

"So you're the Callahan, right? Maybe you can tell a first time patron who's who here tonight?"

Re: Episode 1:  Elegy
Alex approaches the bar inconspicuously. Taking a seat at the middle of the bar near a girl, but just close enough to the end to overhear conversation. He watches the bartender approach the woman with tattoos and the man out of the corner of his eye.

Re: Episode 1:  Elegy
Callahan arches one elegant brow, smiles wryly and says, "The way you ask the question, you'd think they know from sea to shinning sea."  She has a deep voice for a woman, but it's pleasing to listen to and it suits her.  She nods to a group of men huddled in a corner under a haze of cigar smoke.  "Those four are John, Robert, Tristan, and Arthur, and they had a bad turn of luck a couple of years back.  Well, you could call it luck.  I'm more inclined to call it Solars.  Anyway, they're not looking for conversation from anyone who ain't a Dragonblood from way back, so stay away from them."

She waves next to a stunningly pretty blonde woman with startling blue eyes.  "That's Iryna.  She's working as a model in Dallas, but she comes here pretty often.  We've got a few vistors on business, and you've met Winston already.  That's about it."  She lowers her voice to an undertone as says, I don't want any of this out on that program of yours, Simon Lamar."

If you're listening in on this conversation, roll Perception+Awareness to see if you heard the last line.
