Location: The Ready Room, SAGE Terraformation Station #3
Planet: Ceres
A large number of people are crowded in a medium-sized room, the walls of which are covered with emergency response equipment and -- in one case -- a dynamic map of the complex.
Xander sits at a nearby table, carefully holding
Dr. Olsen's stolen datapad in his hands. A cable extends from his head to a computer, and from the computer to the tablet. Truthfully, he's not himself at the moment, but the cable has nothing to do with that.
The tablet contains Dr. Olsen's research, and potentially holds the key to proving her guilt in a number of alarming crimes -- chief among them the death of 8 SAGE crewmen, the suspected abduction of 2 more, and the assault of two senior SAGE staff members: Charles, the project's manager, and Baxter, Dr. Olsen's superior.
Xander was nearly killed by the tablet's defenses when he first attempted to hack into the system. His body is now controlled by a markedly different personality which refers to itself as
Sophia. Prior to this point, her voice had only been heard over digital communication channels.
Billy and
Rebecca stand off to one side, attempting to gain information from
Strigoi -- a ghostly figure who appears to most as four dangling chains, though Rebecca swears she can perceive a corporeal form.
As the figure cannot or will not speak, they are reduced to asking yes/no questions and using pieces of paper to communicate. The going is slow and tedious.
Muse, who was active in the interrogation process when it started, has settled down in a corner of the room. His eyes are closed, and he holds a strange orb made of what appears to be smoky glass in his hands. Anyone even partially familiar with meditation can recognize his action for what it is: meditating.
He stirs after a short but not insignificant period of time, and returns to his work: talking to Stence, his "man inside", and considering the low-res map of the
Depthcharge Stence managed to send his way. (

Battalion is seated lazily in the chair closest to the door from which he entered. Two duplicates dressed in business attire hover nearby, fetching coffee and generally waiting on him hand and foot.
The Omega Commander and three of his men -- Omega-4 -2, and -3 -- are studying the dynamic map carefully, debating the best way to plan the diversion they had agreed upon earlier.
"Dr. Olsen will be expecting Muse to deliver the girl to her aboard the
Depthcharge any minute now," the commander says to the others. "We'll volunteer to head up to Charles's suite to see how Charles and Baxter are recovering under the MD's care. And also to make sure that this Kayla person hasn't wandered off someplace she shouldn't be."
The team's IDA shuttle is parked planet-side a few kilometers distant from the base, and is being currently being babysat by Omega-1.
Down in the Docking Bay,
Abraxas awaits further orders.
The Siege of the
Depthcharge is imminent.
