I don't want to be too meta about "who has the best Agility score" or whatever, but it seems like this is a case of "throw Karma at the problem so we can move forward"

Roger built a cropduster (aka "broadcast spreader") into the aircraft. How does that factor in?

The cropduster add-on is what lets you disperse the stuff instead of just lobbing the globule like a medicine ball and hoping for the best.

But I'll give you +2CS to the roll, too.

Re: OOC Discussion #6

In reply to Yardbird (msg # 950):

Let's talk about the cropduster situation for a moment.

When you're driving (or piloting) a vehicle, there are a variety of things that can happen that might result in the vehicle going "out of control," which means it stops going where you want it to go and starts going where the whims of fate decree, instead.

The longer a vehicle remains out of control, the greater the chance that it'll crash into something.

You can restore control with a successful piloting check in most cases, though generally you'll suffer some penalties to the roll (and potentially lasting penalties to future rolls for a while) depending on what caused you to go out of control in the first place.

Example: You hit an oil slick and lose control. You roll piloting vs what the GM rules is a yellow difficulty and succeed. The car is brought back under control one round later and nothing bad happened in the meantime--and no lasting damage, so no further penalties. Onward!

Example 2: You hit an oil slick and lose control, but this time you fail the piloting check. You can't get the car back under control that round, and it spins around wildly. You don't quite crash into the car next to you, but you do bang against it and rebound back off at speed; this costs you the rearview mirror and headlight on that side and earns you a nasty dent (i.e., Body Damage to the vehicle). The next round, you make a second piloting check. This one's harder, -2CS to the roll. If you succeed on that check, you might still suffer a minor penalty to future piloting rolls for a while to account for the damage done to the car and to your own sensibilities. If you fail enough rolls, you might decide to bail even if the vehicle doesn't actually crash due to the accumulated penalties from the damage.

All that is to say that the crow-plane isn't likely to crash right now. You're out of control, but you have time to pull out of it.

For the first attempt, we'll need a successful manipulation roll or a successful piloting roll (green will suffice, with no penalties to the roll). Godspeed!

Re: OOC Discussion #6

In reply to Yardbird (msg # 952):

Just to make sure I follow what is happening (from Aviva's perspective)

-Aviva, Frank, Roger were in a not-spaceship flying over enemies.
-Frank then jumped out of the not-spaceship unexpectedly, crashed into the ground, and is bouncing at high speed
-Roger swooped toward her but it looks like he will crash the not-spaceship

Assuming that's all that's really going on, what's my roll to seize control of the not-spaceship from Roger and try to save us, because clearly Aviva is the only one not doing something insane right now

If Roger isn't opposing you, there's no roll needed.

If Roger IS opposing you, you both make a STR check to see who ends up with the controls (and/or if they break).

I read your message to us as, if you tell me to say something to them, they'll be able to hear it when I say it.

We'd have had no way of knowing of open channel either way. It probably changes how id respond if id understood your intent but it's very in line for Frank so we ride on

Re: OOC Discussion #6

In reply to Penelope Franklin (msg # 964):

Billy definitely did not specify in his message, this is absolutely a case of “oh shit I have you on speaker!” on Billy’s part.  he was also expecting the ground crew to be the more likely respondents, which is awkward given that they’re all NPCs, but still not the safest assumption.  Usually his communications are as surreptitious as he needs them to be, so this fully transparent thing he’s doing for the Joss is genuinely kinda new to him.
