Has there ever been a character more prepared for the notion of being between a rock and a hard place than Penelope Franklin? I think not!

Update: action's to Frank. We're discussing some options privately but should have things squared away soon.

The chase is on! Unless it's not, in which case we can just end combat. But assuming you do want to run after them in combat rounds, please see below for how fast you can move without a vehicle or movement power:

Run Speed Reminder
How good you are at running is controlled by your Endurance, as follows:

- FE (2): 1 area/round
- PR (4) through EX (20): 2 areas/round
- RM (30) or better: 3 areas/round

Re: OOC Discussion #7

Just to clarify, my intent was to shoot the rock, not the talpid, on my action.  I think that may change the disposition.

Re: OOC Discussion #7

This is how I read your action as well and is part of why I took a semi held "I'll punch him if he doesn't comply" stance. Otherwise Frank was literally forged in a min max lab to punch a living rock..

Speaking of, I specifically wrote myself standing over the talpid. I'm obviously not an expert in the system here but would that not provoke an AoO or some sort of check in response to the rock grabbing the mole?

Re: OOC Discussion #7

I recognize out of character, siccing frank on the boulder would probably be the better strategic decision overall, but knowing nothing other than the rock is a rock and probably very dangerous, shooting it with the OP beam feels like a strong opening too.  I expected a tag out in short order if laser does not actually beat rock.  I feel a lot safer punching down in melee, and this guy is definitely over my weight class.

Re: OOC Discussion #7

Sorry about that, I misread and misunderstood what your action was. I will revise this later today because it does indeed affect the disposition.

Probably also a good idea to clarify a few other details.

Stunning
I think there's some confusion about how being stunned works. Your target is not prone, is not knocked down. They just miss a turn.

It sounds like Frank is thinking of straddling somebody who's on their back, but instead what you're doing is essentially grabbing a dazed guy by the collar.

Advantage
There are no attacks of opportunity in this system. This is mostly because movement is so fluid; we're not worried about 5 ft steps and the like. Instead, the system gives me broad autonomy to grant CS bonuses or penalties as the situation warrants. This is akin to ye olde catch-all +2 circumstance bonus from other systems.

I'm sorry this scene was so hard to understand! I'll try to do a better job describing events and interpret in your actions moving forward.

In reply to The Watcher (msg # 102):

Honestly I think this is less an issue of an unclear scene and more that the system is really not designed to be tactically gritty in the way we are used to from other systems.  It's geared more toward exciting descriptions of ticking down HP until one side loses, which makes sense for what the system is designed to represent.

Re: OOC Discussion #7

I took Frank’s action to be more looming over the Talpid like a schoolyard bully ready to take his linch money, rather than straddling a prone victim.  He is down one good knee after getting punched right in his mole snout, the idea that he’d be at a lower posture at least makes sense.  Plus weren’t they described as kinda short compared to humans, or am I making that up?

Either way, I agree that the system isn’t very tactically oriented but I liked the explanation in one of the rulebooks that a round was roughly equivalent to a couple panels in a comic, so going from getting punched off your feet and immediately throwing the other guy through a wall doesn’t necessarily need anyone’s say so as just a narrative description, as long as you’re capable of wall-penetrating throws in the first place.

The talpids are pretty short compared to humans, standing about 50-60% as tall as you do on average.

Speak for yourself!  For me, Talpids are only 49-58% as tall

Interesting I like this writeup but I'm also pretty happy with how it got resolved. The stakes of the fight feel increased in an interesting way reflecting the take no prisoners approach we both took.

Imo well resolved by the evil watcher

While I know the rock seems to be controlled here I considered it inanimate for power and cs purpose. Punching rock is Frank's thing.

If you don't consider it as such, no argument, roll goes to green.

I didn't attack the talpid. I attacked the rock, specially trying to break an arm holding Billy.

Is there a name for the rock we can use to make it clearer when we're trying to kill it?  How about Chuck?  if we attack Chuck, it's not the talpid.

Does the GM just want us to kill the moleman?  new plan, we spare him and becomes best friends, even though he’s clearly a shady dick threatening us with violence.  this is about spite now.
