Re: The Heads up thread

Yeah, but it appears that I have committed the transgression of typing and writing while I was still suffering from the Earache.  I made some accidents in depicting the scene, first with Johnny rping with Nathan, and then with Pippkin offering a second dress on Alice!Alexis.   Let me know what needs fixing so I can make the corrections to the Role Play before I continue.

My apologies for all this mishaps, at least I have a decent excuse.  I knew that earache had put me down, but I underestimated who bad it was.

No worries.  :)

If Johnny wouldn't move the big beachball kid around, you can retcon if you like, but I wrote my post assuming he would regardless of Nathan's size.  ;p

Finally!  >whew<  I managed to make a posting, pardon my delay.  Combination of two programs being released (Sword Coast Legends and RPG Maker MV) as well as getting a used Laptop inherited to me.  Protip:  Let the current version of Windows (be it 7 or 8) fully update before you upgrade to Windows 10; it'll go quicker.

I intend to be in Heros' Hideout a bit early, and fortunately they have wifi and a power outlet, so I'm using my laptop as a DM's screen.

I can also make my entries there and post them when I return.

Re: The Heads up thread

Earlier this afternoon, while I was away at Encounters, my grandmother passed away.  She has a full life, had a loved one to spend the hearafter with, and found a good time for her to pass on.  It would be the second time I'm mourning and happy for someone who died.

I've canceled all of my sessions for the weekend, so that I can be with family at this time.  I'll still have a massive update to make, and will continue doing this campaign as well as some other material for the upcoming campaigns, so I won't be mourning and bored.

Thank you in advance for your prayers.

I hope things go as well as the can for you and your family, given the circumstances.

Take as much time as you need, and don't worry about your games unless you want to.

Things got a bit too busy and hectic for me this whole week, but things are dying down considerably (It got so busy that I wasn't able to DM at all in this week) so I can get back to work here.  Sorry about the delay.

Bad News:  I don't think I can continue this game for the immediate time being.

Good News:  I'm about to playtest my campaign world of Æthercoil in Roll20.

If you're interested in playing a variant of Lost Mine of Phandelver in a homeruled campaign, please let me know, and I'll give you an invite link.  You can play your characters you had here, at level 1.  It'll be mostly a G-Rated gameplay.

Re: The Heads up thread

I'd be up for a mostly G-rated game.  Not sure I'd want to play cleric again, so perfectly fine with someone else taking that class.

Re: The Heads up thread

I have been given GM status from David so that I can run an RP here.
I would like you all to choose a character to go with. And to protect David's world from any clashing from the RP I run, this RP will effectively be an alternate reality. So whatever happens in my RP doesn't effect any other RPs. Which also means Meiou can play his bunny in my RP, I could play any of my alts, etc... and it won't impact anything in David's timeline.

So! Pick a character you wanna play or what you would like to try playing. :) I tend to form RPs based on who and what my players are playing.

Re: The Heads up thread

In reply to Tam Selhana (msg # 21):

I gave you a list of the characters I'm willing to play at this time.

Justin Mercurial (the Engineer)
Jamie Wintertouch (my witch character)
Johnny Briz as a Rogue/Bard (with a Jester Background)
Caelynna as a rather klutzy Elvish Cleric
Pippkin Ducaine as a Bunnyfolk Rogue
Scarlet Foxfire as a Vulpine Fighter/Monk
Koji as a Kitsune Bard  (Might be out of bounds:  He's my homage to Chaos Croc)

Also, I might like to haggle with you as we go, to find what parts of this RP can become cannon.  We're still playtesting Æthercoil, after all.

Re: The Heads up thread

For David, I have a few questions in order to truly form an opinion...

Jamie Wintertouch: You mentioned "witch", but not race. What is he or she and what are they like? :) You definitely got me curious with this one.

If you play Pippkin, will Meiou still play Meiou? Just curious. And who was playing his daughter, or was she one of your characters also?

When you say "Vulpine" for Scarlet Foxfire, do you mean she is an anthro fox, or is she a human? What are they like? Is she like the reserved Shaolin monk? Or more of a bar brawler? :)

Koji, I would need to know more about him or her to say yay or nay on the character. PM or email me with details if you really wanna pursue this character.

Justin, Johnny and Caelynna I already know about and love (of course), though same question I had about Pippkin applies to Johnny. And I admit I barely got to know Caelynna, so having her (and thus, a healer) on the team could prove fun.

Jamie is in my fiction story in the Æthercoil Magazine.  She's an Eladrin Witch, using options gathered into said magazine.  Basically, she's a good witch, but can be mischevious toward anyone who deserves it.

You'll find more about Pippkin in the Masks and Mythos story.  He's a gentleman thief, although Pippkin might be factored out because Meiou would be there.

Scarlet is more of a bar brawler, although she does know martial arts.  She'll be an anthro Fox.

I'm already factoring out Koji because one fox-being at a time, of course.

Thanks for narrowing it down into the three, and I might focus more on Caelynna, since she is a healer cleric.  Maybe she accompanies Pan with the healing duties, (adding the divine magic to Pan's natural processes.)  Of course, I might have Justin be in a scene or two because of the "Three's Company" factor.

Re: The Heads up thread

I don't know yet who I'm playing, to be fair. :) So don't bank on Pan being in this RP. :O

But yes, Pan loves Caelynna in Aethercoil... literally has saved Pan's life at least twice. And Pan is loyal to Justin as he seems a good and reasonable man who wouldn't ask people to do anything he himself wouldn't do; which turns out to be dangerous stuff that takes guts to do. XD

So for this RP? Maybe we go with Jamie or Scarlet. :) I am curious about them. I can't choose between those two; they both intrigue me. So the choice is down to you on that.

Meanwhile, I hope to at least get confirmation from Meiou that he is, in fact, playing Meiou.

Re: The Heads up thread

In reply to Tam Selhana (msg # 27):

I'll probably go for Jamie then. I need to work on her character for the fiction book, and she's going to be a major character in the setting.

In this RP, she'll be just starting out on her grand adventure, to find out what happened that turned the modern world into Æthercoil. She doesn't know if she traveled through dimensions or through time, however. (Her biggest fear: sounding off like Charleton Heston when she sees what's left of the Statue of Liberty) There are some secrets she won't share with just about everybody, but she will be friendly and help out with the party. She does know heals, and she can make her own special morning brew which she'll share with others: Think of fruit punch spiked with Red Bull. I might have it mechanically grant her WIS+Level in THP a la the Paladin if that's possible.

Re: The Heads up thread

Short answer: Level 3.

Long answer:
I don't wanna run monsters, but I'm willing to push for RP and plot and such. I can run a game with no mechanics and just RP if nobody wants to run monsters. I mostly just missed RPing with the David/Meiou crowd.

If we go with mechanics, I'll have us start at level 3 because that is when all the classes truly blossom. :) But even if we go without mechanics, building a character would be a good idea so you have a guiding line for what your character is capable of.

Combat is inevitable, though, so I will have SOMETHING to moderate combat even if normal monsters are not an option. :)

Re: The Heads up thread

In reply to Tam Selhana (msg # 30):

That'll work.  I just didn't know if there's going to be progression or I can just play freestyle and have Jamie do her craft freely.

I even have a decent introductory scene with Jamie, where she turns an attempted mugger to stone.

"Oh, I know that someone'll break that spell, mama. Stone to Flesh exists and all.  But the idiot'll think twice before robbing me again, wouldn't he?  <winks and smiles>"
