Diridon the Dashing

Diridon the Dashing
Pregame
quote:
Your life was going along like normal until your mother fell ill/got cursed/whatever and the local spellcasters/healers could do nothing for her.  The only clue/divinations were that it was connected to your never seen father, Diridon the Dashing.  He was a bard that came through your area, made love to your mom and then left, never to be seen again.  But he left behind a gift for your mom, you.  So you have left home to find this man and find a way to cure/help your mom.  You have heard from a travelling merchant that a bard named Diridon the Dashing has been playing in inns over the pass in Molthune.

Chp1; At the Gnarly Oak Inn
- However, how can this be as Bobbles(age 46) father was a gnome, Conans(24) a human and Yin/Yangs(17) was a halfelf.
- "He left all sudden like.  It wouldn't surprise me if he got run out of town by a group fathers and husbands with the way he was carrying on."
- The manager can tell you he got a letter and left for Dawnton, a town a couple days away to the west.
- DtD is a 40-50 year old human male, good looking and a fine entertainer...and quite the womanizer.
- You also hear from some travelers that there is a Diridon the Dashing in Laketown.

Chp2; Julian the cleric from Laketown
- not a killer, just a womanizer.
- was originally going by another name, Frobert Shyde.
- really experienced (high level)
- DtD is a 40-50 year old halfelf male, good looking and a fine entertainer
- Arran Brewe, young halforc woman (18) supposedly the daughter of Diridon the Dashing, a 1/2orc
- He was going to the town of Silverhall
- Arran, "Among the stories my mom told me, apparently shortly after I was conceived a local tough claims to have killed my father, the 1/2orc Diridon the Dashing.  But his claims were laughed off as a drunken memory because no body was found.  However, my mom never saw Diridon after that.  Also, maybe the halfelf Diridon was something.  When I talked to him he denied he had ever been here before and that he could be my father.  However, after the halfelf Diridon left I found a bag of gold in my room.  Maybe that was him.  I admit I am curious, but I'm not an adventurer.  I'm just a cleric of Pharasma, I don't even own any armor."

Chp3; In Sivlerhall
- The bard, calling himself Evero, hung around a few days performing, seducing the ladies and asking about local information.

Mimics

By the way, this adventures name is "The Table Laughed."
MIMICS
- they have human levels of intelligence, they could be smart enough to hide their victims belongings
- they can probably understand language(s)(common most likely), but can they speak?
- they are ambush predators and have lots of patience and will power.  It was in the dining room all day with food smells and didn't attack anyone until there was a battle near it and fresh blood.
- their adhesive is dissolved with strong alcohol or Universal Solvent.  It also breaks down shortly after the creature is killed.  It can probably exude more adhesive after an unknown length of time.
- They are very difficult to detect.  Both Bobble and Conan were mere feet from it and had no idea it wasn't a chair.
- They are strong, about as strong as Conan
- They are slow (movement speed), slower than Bobble
- While they can change shape, their mass and size remain the same and their appearance has a hard and rough texture.
- this mimic was young("teenager") and starving.
quote:
Apparently the rat population at the inn has almost disappeared, probably thanks to the mimic.  The local population of stray dogs and cats have also seen a decrease and food has been disappearing from the kitchen, so they put in a night watchman with a dog last week.

- Mimics breed by budding/splitting, usually in 2 but sometimes more than 2.  So there is a possibility of there being more of them around.
- Mimics (like reptiles and snakes) can eat a lot and then go without food for awhile

Hobgoblin Druid

Iktam is an older hobgoblin druid. He has bonded with the earth, not with an animal.  He is known for his scrolls and casting while in wild-shape.  Recent news says that his son was recently caught by humans and executed as a bandit.  Apparently he is on a mission of revenge.

1 disposition of the local leader (what people think of him) = Thuldrin Kreed, the Gavel (the local leader) of the Lumber Consortium.  He runs the town with an iron fist.  He is to be feared by all.  Kreed abuses this position often and publicly. He is a sadistic, cruel man and not shy of open murder or rape if someone dares to oppose him or simply is in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Ironically and contrary to this behavior, it is not unusual to see Kreed doing curative works if someone suffers without Kreed being the cause. He also spends a lot of money to protect Falcon's Hollow's lumberjacks and inhabitants from the monsters of the region.
Kreed is cruel but he is also a coward often hiding behind the back of his right hand Payden Teedum.

rolled, don't ask...
2 criminal element feared most = Redrock Guild, but the name is all you got.

rolled good
3 logger rumors of the woods = All the standard monsters, wolves, bears, giant mosquito/stirge, wyverns from the mountains (probably won't attack groups), a dragon (of some sort), a hag/witch/wise woman/practitioner of the old ways/local boogieman named Ulizmila, various fey(who are angry at the logging) and an Elder darkwood tree (the oldest of it's kind).

rolled 20
4 Mysterious strangers people are talking about (we are new, so we shouldn't have anyone talking about us yet) = you hear whispered remarks, nasty chanting in an ugly language and a Skull-decorated fly unholy symbol.  That is the symbol of Urgathoa The Pallid Princess, evil goddess of disease, gluttony and undeath.  You probably have a cult here.

Whats going on in the Abandoned Cutyard
The Abandoned Cutyard of Falcon's Hollow was the town's first lumber mill; the mill and its surrounding log cabins lie abandoned half a mile west of the town. Some old people say that the cutyard was not abandoned because of the construction of the new Cutyard but because of a terrifying event that happened many years ago during a midnight shift. The legend says that blood-curdling screams were heard from the old mill and when Thuldrin Kreed and his people went to investigate, they found no sign of the workers. Thuldrin himself returned pale as snow and trembling. Some say that Thuldrin's father told his son the secret of what evil sleeps in the old cutyard but Thuldrin has never told that to even his most trusted thugs.
The recent outbreak of leprosy has driven many of the infected to the Abandoned Cutyard. The poor people have formed a colony of tents and shacks. The rotting buildings of the yard match the ravaged faces of the sick and dying. Lady Cirthana Gensar sent acolytes to aid the lepers but they never returned.

Whats going on in the Carvnival
  Carnival stuff.

What about Vade
Vade is a wizard who has a young son, but lost his wife several years ago, when their son was about a year old.  After this he became a lackey of Kreed, though recently they have had a falling out for some reason.  He used to live in a tower up in the Perch, but now lives in a shack on the edge of town near the cemetery.  You hear whispers that he and his son have been seen prowling around the cemetery late at night.

Beggars in town
One of the beggars seems to be a person who was or looks like a paladin of Imodae that ran away.  You see the face of another leprous beggar that seems to have the skin flayed off, but not from Leprosy.  You hear someone mention how their dog doesn't like that beggar.  You also find out that sometimes people will observe some of the beggars (they all look alike or most people don't really look at them to identify individuals), moving like normal and not like someone seriously sick on the verge of death.
