From what I gather, it's a 50 foot drop onto the top of the tower. Doesn't look like there is an option for going up

Whatever that creature is, it has flaws. The torso lacks room for lungs that can furnish enough air for extended activity, and there's insufficient room for a working digestive system.

Yes, but the armor has to be masterwork or better. I just reread the description, and KIlale had to apply do them at the castle. For some reason, I thought they were forged and could be applied like decals...then being absorbed by the armor, shields, etc., maybe leaving a design.

Gotcha. The armor Toben is wearing right now is probably not masterwork, even if we had access to a forge. You may also need some sort of craft for working leather too.

"Torak" is the name of a fantasy protagonist and the name of a God in a David Eddings series. I've read and recommend the David Eddings books.

Big fan of Eddings.  Belgariad was my favorite, then the Mallorean and Elenium.  Tamuli got a little long winded for me.

That's cool.  The belgariad and the malloreon is where I cut my teeth on fantacy novels.

My expectation at this point is that the group is waiting to resupply or something before heading down?  Torak has access to basic goods, things specific to spelunking in fact.  This can be done here or in the main thread.  Let me know either way when the group is ready to move into the mine.  I will be posting up an ongoing, updated map as the dungeon crawl commences.  There will also be pictures from a website called fabletop.com to show individual locations during fights.

At this point, everyone is attacking as a microbattle.  Unless you intend to help others during this round, go ahead and post your action.  I will then modify your post to address the troglodytes who act before and after your action.  Take those that go before you into account.  If anything major happens, or if I do something you don't like, please don't hesitate to PM me (or FB if you have that option).

I think this will be far more organized until we get things down to a more manageable level.

I am going out of town until late Saturday night.  My connection will be spotty.  I'm not saying I won't post, but it will not be as dense numerically as normal.

Ano will try and move closer to the center of the room where the group was planning on meeting.  He will try to stay standing on the rising borders.  How fast are they moving?

Toben will attempt to hop up on the rising borders as well.

If you choose to hop onto the rising walls it will be a Reflex save vs. DC 12 to get on and a Balance check vs. DC 16 to stay on.  You may take 10.  This will mean that you do not move toward anyone at the moment, only up.

Toben taking 10 will give him a 16 for both. Made it by the skin of his teeth.

I stand corrected. Toben can't successfully take 10 on balance and succeed. He must roll, and he failed. Toben falls at some point during his ascent.

Klale will make for the entrance, trying to get over the walls. He's +2 on Reflex and +5 on Balance.

Crushed sounds bad.  How far are the others away from my location.  If we have to drop down then it is best if we are able to stay together.  I can make the drop without to much danger and then maybe help others down.

Only Ryland is up there with you.  He is 4 squares away (40').  You can move at half speed with no roll or regular speed with a Balance check DC 16.  If you move full speed it's a DC 21.  Rising at 30' per 6 seconds (round).  Ceiling in 3 rounds.

The floor tiles had all sort of pictures and designs on them... are there any sort of designs on the sides that moved up to the ceiling?

Yes.  By the podium with the dial.  I had a map made, but rpol went down after my last post.  I'll try to get the map up tonight when I get home.

Just wanted to say this part of the game is getting very interesting.  Also Ano and Ryland jumping from 100 feet up and making it to the bottom in one pice via giant bat is one of my favorite visual moments of this game. Top 10 at least.

Out of curiosity what was the solution to the puzzle, if you are able to share.

The tiles were actual letters of the greek alphabet. Once translated, the tiles Toben stepped on spelled out "SECRET".

This is the OOC thread.  If asked, the dwarves will say this belongs to the group and should be used efficiently by it.  Xar is eyeing a couple of long knives in the pile of coins.

The gold alone weighs 540 pounds.
The coins altogether weigh over 3300 pounds.

What I saw, and correct me if I'm wrong, is that 50 coins weigh 1 pound (gold) and although silver and copper are less dense, the game mechanics ignored this in D&D.

What does Xarini want? The group knows Klale can take some gold. It would be nice if it could be carried on the equivalent of a stretcher. The group needs to be ready to act unencumbered. If nobody makes claims, Klale will b e interested in the blue dragon shield, the crown, the scepter, and the gloves. He'll also asses whether the kite shield is better than his. I'll discuss why IC.

Xarini does not see anything other than maybe the gloves that interest her.  Not without it being identified.

If no one is claiming the non-magic kite shield, I'd like to monkey with it.

Alright, some statistics to help everyone with the visuals here.

The cavern is yuge!  Can hold several football fields.  The tunnel the group entered from is too small for the dragon to enter and not get stuck.  It is in the southern wall.  The opening to the outside is roughly 160' wide and ~115' tall.  ~325' across from that is the dais with the chains that held the prisoner (Kairo).

The dragon is roughly 49' long.  It is about that far from the wide opening to the outside.  It is ~245' from you and you are ~290' from the tunnel.

Please feel free to ask any other questions before acting.

What color is the dragon? I had an impression it is blue. How much detail does the group, or anybody want Klale to go into? I'm prepared to more-or-less summarize.

As best as the description gives, it appears to be a blue dragon, but as far as character knowledge... that may not really provide much just yet.

I would say go into as much detail as you feel comfortable with, but IMHO, I would probably summarize a bit.

Klale said draft so I'll give y'all time to OOC help him revise or IC offer additions.  There are parts missing, but it is up to you to judge if they are important or not.

In a nutshell, we rescued Ceven, Kornari, and Nessie. We stopped the valaraukar assault on Therion's castle (of which some of their ranks have been infiltrated), and we are currently trying to free Gwaelind. We know very little of what transpired with Ourn and Phineas, but we've traveled far and wide to unravel the mystery in front of us. All of which was brought on by the 'falling of the stars'.

Seeing how we don't know which side this dragon leans, it's hard to say how much info we offer. As well as which side we are fighting for. If the dragon already knows which of the stars have been corrupted, it won't matter how much we say as it will be inferred by our actions, but outright mentioned that we defeated Dúath'gûr and Basarshakath might be unwise for the moment.

What is known IC of Melkor and other Tolkien material?

From what I recall, we just recently started hearing the name and that he is much more powerful than the Maiar we have encountered so far.

What Toben said, though Ryland may know more being a bard.  Eles seemed to know quite a lot.  If you tracked him down, you might have a more meaningful conversation.

Melkor is something very dark and evil, more powerful than all the Dischords/Dark Maiar, and their leader.  That's about the extent of knowledge among the heroes, leaders, and scholars of the day.  The common folk won't even know the name.

Fair warning.  I am in pretty dire financial straits right now.  I may lose any consistent internet connection until the 2nd week in August if my utilities get shut off.  If I stop posting, it isn't you, it's me.

There really isn't a "thickest" as the trogs have all spread out.  The wizard is pretty much out of the game except for biting or poking people with a knife.  The warrior in front of him is bleeding, but doesn't look near death.  The two snipers are engaged at different ends of the room, and the rogue is nowhere to be seen.

It's going to be a matter of picking at target and going at it.  The closest is the warrior Xar stabbed if you aren't going to finish off the monk.

Klale is inclined to go over and cut Ano's foe down, but maybe Ano is having a good time?

Ano has been out of pocket (and he has a little tiny one to cuddle) so I'm going to give him some time to post before finishing up his few seconds with the other sniper.

Big post planned, but fleeing Irma at the moment, so may be a bit in coming.

Perfectly ok.  It was a really cool scene and it was what I was going to do anyway.  This just saved a bunch of time.

It was a cool fight.  Despite not taking any damage it still felt really dangerous.  It was like if we were hit even once it would be the end.
