Ourn and Xar make haste toward the smoke.  It is past nightfall when the three of you arrive at the source.  It seems a fortified coastal city has been razed.  There is little left of the buildings inside the wall except a keep.  The walls of the city have been torn down by some massive effort and have multiple breaches.  Only the keep looks intact, though its walls appear dark, completely blackened by fire.

There is no movement to be seen from this vantage point and Xar motions that he wants to move closer.

Ourn nods to Xar and takes point, speaking quietly as they move. "We should poke around in town for survivors, and skulk over to the keep. If anything holds evidence of what happened here, maybe it'll be the structure still standing". Crouching low and placing a hand on one of his new daggers, Ourn takes care to stick to shadows and avoid exposing himself in any fire or moonlight.

Just before you step across the threshold of the destroyed wall into the city, Xar grabs you by the shoulder and pulls you back to the wall.  The three of you are monumentally stealthy, so you are not seen.  What you see instead are shadowy forms flitting among the charred ruins of the town.  They are indiscernible from shadows at this distance, so it looks like shadows without bodies flitting through the streets.

Ourn does his best to pick out a shadow and focus on it. He whispers quietly to Xar "Ever seen anything like this?".

Xar nods his head up and down.  He taps you on the shoulder and motions his head away from the city.

Ourn follows Xar's lead and makes a quiet departure. Once a safe distance away, Ourn asks "Were those goblins? Like the ones before in Dunsten?".

Xar shakes his head slowly.  He motions toward the west and the way you came.

"Right, we should move". Ourn continues to follow Xar's lead to exit the area.

Sometime late in the night, the three of you will find the camp with the others.
