Re: OOC
Alright, I have begun work on a project to flesh out and gather together information for ease of reference. I am currently working on races and would be happy to have people who wish throw together vlurbs for races as theynwish. I might edit them, but it would save me time and trouble. Just let me know you are working on it so I don't overlap too much. Each entry should consist of Appearance/History, Customs/Culture, Personality, Associations/Alliances both woth other mortals and deities.
I already did one for Bartimaeans as an example.
Bartimaeans This race is one of the so-called "wahedeen" races descended from the first 10 sentient veings ever created. Those 10 are still rememebered amongst the Bartimaeans and their names are still amongst the most common of Bartimaean chosen names. These Wahedeen still revere the original creator of their race and the creator of order, reason, and law. They form a distinct subrace of Wahedeen due to this. They manifest the features he created them with proudly: tall and muscular with triangular torsos and powerful arms and legs they possess grey eyes and either red, from the color of blood to the color of fire, or blonde hair.
All the Wahedeen races are extremely long-lived, averaging 500 years, and mature slowly. They achieve their name day around the age of 50 and are considered elderly around 300 and ancient at 450. When vorn, they are given a child's name which will remain a pet name for them, usually, throughout their life. Upon reaching 50, each child stands a vigil and then chooses to take the Oath or not. 80% of them do. Those who do not are not looked down upon at al and are always allowed to take the Oath later in life. The zoath is, afterall, open to all people always. Those who do not take the Oath generally join small farming communities and tend toward large, peaceful families. Those who take the Oath have a far more open path ahead of them. Most find a trade or profession, but roughly 50% of all Bartimaeans join the Order of Bartimaeus and take vows in one of the many knightly orders. This makes them one of the largest militaries in the world outside of thr Citadel or Mooru's lands.
Bartimaeans prize order and law above all. Each strives to find hisnplace in thenworld and occupy it with skill and dedication. they do prize ambition but without social climbing. Bartimaean ambition comes in perfecting their chosen role in life. It makes them donsumate warriors, monks, sorcerers, and whatever else they choose to be. That said, they compartmentalize well, too. At work they are professional; at home they are warm and affectionate people.
Bartimaeans are close to their cousins amongst the Alexandrans, Sileasians, and Windborne. They believe their ancient cousins, the Felkans, to be extinct for now. The acerage Bartimaean reveres Bartimaeus, obviously, but many of them once revered Felka, Tamiko, and even Tur'eum. Recently, they have added the Lovers as a favored second deity and are known to use Erisian curses frequently.
