Re: Adventure of Wyvern Tor, Too

Before their paths separated, Victor said to Mithra, "Good luck to you, too. See you on the other side." He banged a mailed fist to his chest in a warrior's salute, and parted ways.

He said to Heinrik and Prizzard, "Eyes open, fellas, in case we missed any nasties when we last came through."

"While I don't wish there to be any threats you left behind," Heinrik responds to Victor's warning, "I do kind of relish testing my mettle against something other than a green flaming skull. Whatever that is."

He does keep a keen eye out for any surprises. On the other hand, if it is a surprise, then he didn't see it coming anyway!

Re: Adventure of Wyvern Tor, Too

Nixon peered up at the ledge on the right but cast a glance now and then to the ledge on the left.

"I'm more than a match for any spiders or undead that might try to attack us from above," he bragged, though, coming from him, it didn't quite sound like bragging.

"Master Ubo, if you'd be so kind to watch that ledge on the left, I shall do the same for the right."

"A dozen or so creatures should not deter us too long, but, I have to admit, I do not know yet what my limits are. Ten creatures? Twenty? A hundred?"

"I guess it'll depend on how many can come at me at once. I'm not too worried about them surrounding me, though. My fighting style is one of constant movement--to never be where the enemy thinks I am!"

Lureene considered the ravine before her small group. "Well, we can go down here easily enough, but climbing on the other side may be a challenge. Do either of you have any particular experience in rock climbing? I'm afraid I am resolutely ordinary at such tasks, but I can try to go first if neither of you have done much of this before..."

"Well, when you get down to it, there are only three ways to deal with it--magic, physical attack or find what's keeping it active and destroy it," Cunaar replies to Thressa.

"Of course, each of those options is bound to have lots of variations. You and I can hit it with magic. I'm guessing Hatchet will be the combat."

"We need to keep an eye out for any sort of device that might be the source of the creature. There may not be one, of course. It just may be tied to that spot."

"Alas, my arcane lore has never heard of such a creature."

Victor said with a chuckle, "I look forward to it. My skills'll get rusty if all I get is orcs and gobbos to sharpen them on. The Greenflame Skull might be a test, though given our numbers, it may not."

Re: Adventure of Wyvern Tor, Too

Thressa does recall some lore about a creature called a Flameskull. It's undead and made from the corpse of a dead wizard. She's heard tales that the color of the flame reflects the creatures (or possibly the original wizard's) alignment.

She thinks it can cast spells; in fact, that's probably the only method it has to attack.

She thinks it can also rejuvenate... some sort of coming back to unlife after it's been destroyed.

From what she's heard tell, it's probably fixed to this spot simply because it was instructed to do so since its purposed for creation is as a guardian.

Re: Adventure of Wyvern Tor, Too

As it turns out, Lureene is the best suited to climb up the ravine wall on the other side, and then pull the others up. It isn't hard; it just takes a bit longer to get into position.

Tas was on her way to Phandalin to start a new life. Or find an old one if no new ones are available.

Someone had said there was a lost mine around here. Should she look for it?

A sudden flash of blue light--a sure sign of magic in play--answers her unspoken question.

The world around her suddenly disappears only to be replace a moment later by a waterwheel! In a cave! Guarded by a green flaming skull!

It's unclear to Tas if the skull has spotted her; she can see it through the spokes of the water wheel. Of course, that flash of blue light that brought her here might have given her position away. Kind of depended on whether the skull had eyes in the back of its head.

Shield up and light on her feet she'll back away from the flaming skull. She doesn't draw her Warhammer just yet. take the dodge action to have advantage on Dex saves. Move away from the skull

In reply to Cunaar Clothar IV (msg # 565):

Hatchet nods and pulls his weapons forth. I will gladly engage it while you two blast it with your arcane might.  Is there a certain direction you wish me to approach?  I have seem magics at work and do not wish to be in the midst of anything you might through it's way!

Johnny took a moment to fix a mechanical problem with his mismatched armor before running off to catch up with the others. He took the lead with his group stating that stick usually was able to keep him safe and he would rather he be the target of some powerful magic than the others.

"There is only the one target, correct? I shall be on your left flank." He drew his rapier, a sturdy and well-made weapon but unornamented and worn from much use. This one entirely gave up any cutting ability with its triangular cross-section.

Re: Adventure of Wyvern Tor, Too

Tas spots two groups of people, each at opposite ends of the water channel. The one to her left is the shortest distance but will probably leave her exposed to the floating skull even though it's a 5-foot deep channel. The other end is behind her. As near as she can see, the skull is not yet aware of either of these two parties... perhaps because they haven't yet entered the cavern. They seem to be waiting on something before rushing into the cavern.

Lureene's group and Ero's group merely had to overcome a small physical obstacle before getting into place. Just as they got into place, though, they saw a flash of blue light out by the waterwheel and suddenly there was another person standing out there... quickly hiding behind the waterwheel.

Victor's and Mithra's groups had a longer distance to go but neither of them saw any other threats along the way.

How long each group had to wait for the signal was hard to say, but in due time, two sharp whistles sounded in between the booms... presumably from Mithra.

Re: Adventure of Wyvern Tor, Too

Seeing someone charging the skull Johnny jumped to his feet from his hiding spot and started running as well. He armor rattled as he ran, his face a mask of excitement and terror all at the same time. The gnarled stick in his hand began to glow softly with magical power as he moved. As he got closer he bellowed out what seemed like a war cry but the words to say the least were confusing.

"You had better protect me you damnable twiiiiiiggggggggg!!!!"

If I am able to attack this round...

Ero steps aside for Johnny's charge to nudge Lureene.  "Did you descry that cerulean impulse and the cavern's newest visitant?  Let us go reconnoiter the water wheel while those plebians scuffle with the skull.  I surmise the subtraction of our dyad would perturb the altercation's causatum."

Lureene looked at her charging friend, and tilted her head uncertainly. "Right, let's be quick about it. It may be some manner of hidden foe prepared for ambush." She readied her mace and went towards the waterwheel, briskly, for stealth was not an issue and she longed to assist her friends.
