Pub Crawling (OOC Discussions)

Okay, I have 12 players now. They will be divided into two groups, though ultimately it is the same adventure.

I have finished character sheets from 4, about half-finished from 4, and still waiting on the last 4.

If you have any questions or comments, here's where you can make them!

In reply to Serena Valais (msg # 3):

Howdy. Let me know, SM, if there's more basic info you need on my character sheet that's not covered by my written description.

Mal doesn't currently have a drop of equipment. Anything an amnesiac tavern sweep would have to start?

:)

Re: Pub Crawling (OOC Discussions)

There's no real rush, other than the others are starting to get anxious. :-)

The actual teams aren't final yet, as I'm still waiting for two players to decide on what class they are playing.

Re: Pub Crawling (OOC Discussions)

How'd we get a half-orc in the basic rules? Cool.

Re: Pub Crawling (OOC Discussions)

I'm a bit confused by the encumbrance part of the character sheet.

The Basic Rules .pdf I have does not appear to do the light, medium, heavy categories. At least not on page 60.

Is there some place else to look?

Re: Pub Crawling (OOC Discussions)

The Half-Orc was available in the D&D Next playtest game, as well as in an advanced edition that just had races and classes. It's not in the Basic Rules or the Starter Set, though.

I'm not sure the encumbrance system will be used in 5e. I just carried it over from previous character sheets. You should ignore it for now. I suspect that it is one of those 'details' that 5e doesn't use.

Re: Pub Crawling (OOC Discussions)

Okay. I think my sheet is more or less done then.

Page 60 does have a system for encumbrance, but it is less involved than the one on your sheet.

Re: Pub Crawling (OOC Discussions)

Wow, go from no activity for several days to 12 players and half the characters sheets already in... impressive jump.

Cunaar: If you're impressed by the half-orc, wait until Morgrimm gets going...

Anyway, I'm all set I think. As for encumbrance, the rule so far is you can carry 15 times your Strength score, with no rules for actual penalties or anything: that's just the max you can carry. There is a variant side-bar that imposes penalties when you hit 5x Strength, 10x Strength and 15x Strength, but the basic rule is just "This is how much you can carry."

Re: Pub Crawling (OOC Discussions)

Hmmm...I tried to roll but it didn't drop. I'll have to do it myself I guess.

22:43, Today: Serena Valais rolled 12,15 using 4d6,4d6 with rolls of 2,2,2,6,3,5,5,2. last 2 rolls.

22:43, Today: Serena Valais rolled 21,16,10,20,17 using 4d6,4d6,4d6,4d6,4d6 with rolls of 6,6,4,5,6,3,1,6,3,4,2,1,6,6,3,5,3,3,5,6. let's try this (first 5 rolls).

So that means the rolls are, if broken up:

22:43, Today: Serena Valais rolled 12,15 using 4d6,4d6 with rolls of [2,2,2,6 = 10] [3,5,5,2 = 13]. last 2 rolls.

22:43, Today: Serena Valais rolled 21,16,10,20,17 using 4d6,4d6,4d6,4d6,4d6 with rolls of [6,6,4,5 = 17],[6,3,1,6 = 15],[3,4,2,1 = 9],[6,6,3,5 = 17],[3,3,5,6 = 14]. let's try this (first 5 rolls).

Ok I figured it out. I actually rolled really well overall. Final scores are 17, 15, 9, 17, 14, 10, and 13. I drop the 9 of course since it is my lowest roll. In order, 17, 17, 15, 14, 13, 10 is a good stat layout.

My character, I have decided, is going to be a bard (we have wizards up the wazoo, and a warlock already so I want to be something different). A princess who is also a bard (I'm claiming that (True) Bardic ability is more like sorcery, since it is an innate charisma casting class with full casting. My character is thus going to be the oddball in her family, since I'll say the ability to be a True Bard (versus just any old minstrel) arises very rarely in people under mysterious circumstances. That way, she has an exotic sorcerous flavor to her, which I like.

I might also make her into a cleric or druid so we have divine magic access too.
