Chapter 4: The Temple of the Mother (Craw)
Turning to the man Montgomery states,
"Actually...we...have...come...to...see...you. We...were...sent...to...retrieve...an...item...you...are...holding...for...our...employer."
Speaking slowly and in a fashion he had spoken.

The high priest turns to face you and raises his eyebrows.  "Employer?... Who?... What... item?"

"Yes....Kezra....sent....us....to.....retrieve....a....sword.....you....are.....holding....for.....her."
Montgomery is almost winded holding his breath to speak so slowly but tries to get it all out and clear.

Chapter 4: The Temple of the Mother (Craw)
"Time... to... retrieve... Sword... of... Senectus?"  Raf frowns.  "Too... soon.  But... not... mine... to... reject.  Will... need... four... or... more."  He points behind you.  Where you expect to see the rest of your group is empty space.  Only Guuug and Montgomery stand in the cavern with Raf.  (Xtitkk had stayed behind in the temple, but the others are nowhere to be seen)  "Surely... she... knew.  Send... message... from... town?  Temple... will... send... magically... for... donation."

Chapter 4: The Temple of the Mother (Craw)
Mildly confused Montgomery continues with the line of questioning and in the same fashion.
"Four? .... Why....four?....What....donation....do....you....speak....of?"
Then besides himself and Guuug, where did the others go? But that could wait until later. Surely they did not drown in the small underwater jaunt.

In reply to DM (msg # 25):

Considering what he'd just learnt this was Truly an ominous prospect. Would there be any means to purge the canker from the blade or perhaps attaching a means of neutralising it. he asked the Archivist.

In reply to Xtitkk (msg # 35):

"Ah.  There was an attempt to neutralize the evil."  Lim tells Xtitkk.  He looks around before continuing.  "Another soul was trapped within the sword to keep the evil at bay.  It has never been confirmed but I believe there was a great sacrifice.  King Winston and the dwarven hero Carleon once traveled with two others.  In my readings I believe their disappearance coincides with the timing of the arrival of the sword."

Chapter 4: The Temple of the Mother (Craw)
It slowly occurs to him what is needed and nods his head to Raf in agreement of sending off for more people.
"That....would....be....fine, ....if....we....need....more....then....do....so. ....We....do....have....one....more....that....is....with....your....Archivist."
Though that was only three, they would still need at least one more and who is to say they would all make it. Their own group dwindled to only three in the journey thus far.

Raf nods in understanding.  He closes his eyes and returns to meditating assuming the group can make their decisions on their own.

OOC - You can press on against his warning or return to either the temple or Valarez.  Let me know what you'd like to do.  On a metagaming note, I have new groups set up when all the original groups return so you will have at least four if you leave and return.

In reply to DM (msg # 36):

To bind another's soul into a such an item with the intention to have them hold at bay what sounds to be a multitude of evil presences. Would any Goodly Divine undertake to permit such a thing as this does not hold to be a goodly thing. he quietly declares.

In reply to Xtitkk (msg # 39):

"Such a task was taken on by mortals, not by gods.  We all make foolish choices in life.  Perhaps even choices we would change if given the chance.  Although men of honor and purity are often heroes, they also often make choices in the name of their god that others may view as foolish."

In reply to DM (msg # 40):

True, however the action was not prevented; as such I speculate it was allowed by a Divine. Irrespective of any theories whatever took place has done so for a reason.

ooc if we regroup to have four, I suggest you two ask Raf to have the sword brought to the city. Xtitkk prefers not to crawl travel underground it's too restrictive and he can't move freely. Its difficult enough for him to be in buildings.

OOC - I'm fine having Raf summon them if that's the route the group is taking.  I hadn't read a decision from the group so I wasn't sure.  Bare with me while we wait for the groups to finish up if that is the case.  You can continue to ask Raf questions until then if you want more information.

Chapter 4: The Temple of the Mother (Craw)
Raf begins to meditate again.  As he falls into a trance he begins to silently mouth some words.  After a few minutes he comes out of the trance and looks to Montgomery.  "I...sent...word...brother...Emmett...more...will...come...several...days...after."

Lim speaks up again, "There is another interesting story about that land.  Many years before it was Senectus there was another sword of legend and power called Alhazard.  It was broken into nine pieces and strewn across the area.  Two heroes named Asheroth and Symun searched the land and reforged the sword.  They used it to slay a great devil and bring peace and safety to the land.  Asheroth has a statue dedicated to him outside the library in Valarez.  There isn't much connection between this and the sword you asked about, but I find it interesting that the stories seem similar for both."

Chapter 4: The Temple of the Mother (Craw)
As they swim back under the water and arrive on the rocky shore Guuug and Montgomery and horrified at the scene before them.  The mangled body of Maldrek lay on the rocks.  Blood and dozens of arrows scatter the area.  Off in the water a small ship sails away from the shore.  The flag is that of the former Ferrignis.  Since the grand exodus the remaining people of Senectus's enemy have turned to raider and pirates.  They often take captives and sell them into slavery in other parts of the world.  Shiana and Chala are nowhere to be seen.

Chapter 4: The Temple of the Mother (Craw)
In reply to Guuug (msg # 48):

"Mark this day Guuug, for if we are to track down our lost friends once we are done we will need a good reckoning of time."
With the ship sailing away they could not hope to mount a rescue in time. They would likely require the services their patroness could provide. Which would be less likely if they failed to return with her item. Surely the pirates had a routine of where they tended to sell off their stolen goods.
Still bobbing in the water he swims to their dead comrads, finding any bit of value on them claims.
"Come this should buy them a decent burial, you grab the other."

Chapter 4: The Temple of the Mother (Craw)
Guuug and Montgomery do what they can for their lost and fallen companions before returning to The Stone.  Xtitkk joins them after a few more hours at the temple.  The group sits and talks about what has happened and what must still be done in the inn.  They also think on who else Raf will send to help them in their task as the night grows late.

OOC - go ahead to the next thread while we wait for the rest of your group and make any possible plans
