History and Setting
On the continent of Gaea, there are 5 countries, each with their own unique set of imports and exports that brings their country economic might. However, the most noteworthy countries are the four westernmost countries, as they are the ones with the greatest military might, and the greatest likelihood to have mages.

-Yolia: This is the land of magic, architecture, religion, and philosophy. All mages are from here to one extent or another. Yolia is the westernmost of all the countries, sharing borders with Shurika, Favalar, and Bern. Yolia's army consists of a large number of necromancers, each controlling a large number of undead. Furthermore, the army also contains several battlemages, who have given up the true power of magic in exchange for the ability to fire many weak spells rapidly.

-Shurika: Shurika is the country to the north of Yolia. Shurika is the land of the forge, and of invention. It also shares a border with Bern and Gudlin. Their army consists of three thousand ninjas, each thousand belonging to a specific house. It is difficult to make the houses work together, but it is safest to not gain their attentions.

-Favalar: This is the land of farmers, hunters, ranchers, and fishermen. Their army consists of 20,000 minutemen, armed with all-but-improvised weapons. Their power lies in numbers and speed of mobility: not in any particular skill in combat. That said, some are very skilled with the bow. They share borders with Yolia, Bern, and Gudlin.

-Bern: Bern is by far the most militarized country. They have no natural resources and they share one border with every other country on the continent. Their army consists of 6,000 highly-trained fighters. There are few of them, but they are capable of great things on the battlefield. Bern funds its own existence by being the continental center of trade, as well as being home to the world's only arena. Furthermore, they sell out their soldiers to the highest bidder in case other countries get into skirmishes. However, in more recent years, their economy has been unable to sustain itself. They have begun to demand funds from the other countries. The uneasy peace throughout the land is being disturbed, and the people fear they will see an all-out war in their lifetimes.

The year is 1086. A woman named Insena has discovered a long-lost form of magic that she calls "Blue magic," and she has been given the title of Blue Archmage. Blue magic has been on the rise for the last 20 years, but it doesn't seem to be any more or less powerful than the other colors of magic.

Re: History and Setting
There are four celestial bodies: a white sun named Phota, a black sun named Scota, a white moon named Eosa, and a black moon named Nycta. Just as the white sun provides light and warmth during the day, the black sun provides cold and darkness during the night. The white moon changes phases once a month, while the black moon changes its phase twice every three months. There are no visible stars, as the rays from the suns block out anything that might otherwise get through.

There are a type of mystical creatures known as sprites whose presence is determined by the phase of the white moon.
-When the moon is full, the Fae arrive. Even when they know the Fae are coming, no one but the greatest of mages are able to resist their magics. Fae have an aura of calmness, causing anyone who sees them to ignore their presence, thinking of them as nothing more than playing children. The good news is that the Fae want nothing more than to steal every shiny object in the land and put them all in a giant pile. Once a month, people have to go out and recollect all their shiny things, but that's it.
-When the moon is new, the pixies show up. Pixies are able to create magical effects that would make even the most powerful of mages jealous, and they're able to cast these spells as though they were throwing cards out of a deck. The good news is that pixies seem to have no sense of focus or direction, so their presence is more of an inconvenience than an earth-shattering catastrophe.
-The rest of the time, the fairies are about. Fairies are significantly less powerful than the other sprites, and they have a tendency to imprint on human children. When they imprint on a child, that child can see the fairy's true appearance and hear the fairy's speech. Fairies are extremely loyal to the children they select, but have no particular abilities that make them a force to be reckoned with.

Re: History and Setting
About 1086 years ago, some great event ended. Exactly what that event was is unclear because its nature has been obscured by magic, by law, and by intentional misinformation. Some reports say it was a great war, while other reports claim is was the cure of some great disease, and others still say that there had been a hole ripped in the fabric of reality itself that had finally been closed up. Only one thing is certain: the powers-that-were in that time decided that the best course of action would be to destroy all records of the nature of this event, and the only way to do that would be to destroy all records of anything. All recorded history was wiped out 1086 years ago, and the counter for determining which year it is was reset. This is common knowledge and a simple fact of life in this world; few people think anything of it.
