Re: A Meeting of Minds (Private Room)
Sharik watched the others banter with a quiet, bemused expression on her face. She seemed particularly interested in the exchange between the woman that she had seen from the TAS offices, a woman that she might one day get to know as Samantha, but was also keenly aware of the slightly sniping words that passed between the Aslan female and the Count.
It seemed to her that presenting a consolidated block to prospective employers had little downside; so, she said so. "Count Cromwell, doesn't seem to be attempting to contractually bind any of us for these negotiations." she offered into the conversation, "Only to help ensure that an equitable and consistent deal, if any, might be reached for everyone." She seemed to be speaking in generalities, but of course some of Samantha's points were being addressed - if indirectly. "I for one," Shar noted off-hand, as a sort of vote of confidence, and with a glance towards Walter - who once again seemed very familiar and had already displayed his fair share of efficient administration acumen, "am more than willing to given the Count and his companion the benefit of the doubt."
Of course, her tone was still light. Sharik seemed to feel that this was all a game; she leaned back in her chair again, holding her tumbler up to join in the Count's toasting salute.
After a moment's pause, the raven-haired cosmopolitonite smiled rather distantly, but turned her head to address Samantha's query about skills more directly - even if she hadn't been called out like Walter or Darrel. "Usefulness depends on the job, Miss..." Shar insisted rather pointedly, "Though a ship has been mentioned, the jobs to which that conveyance will convey us to dictates the required skill set. Besides reputation, contacts and the exacting ability to efficiently navigate any red tape all have their rightful place in any business venture." She hadn't meant to leap to their defense necessarily, for they seemed fully capable on their own; but, Sharik didn't care for the underlying implications in the other woman's statement.
Still, it didn't serve anyone for her to be 'against' anyone, she shifted gears and introduced herself. "I am Dame Shana Kaagira-Mepede" the thin brunette noted simply with slight bow of the head to Samantha, then also to all of the others assembled, "And have service time in both the IISS and IN; so, I think that I can find my way around a ship's bridge and am a fair astrogator." Her tone wasn't defensive, but more matter-of-fact. Still Sharik readily conceded, "But, I actually haven't worked consistently on ship's crew for over a decade." The brown-haired dilettante shrugged slightly and a gentle smile crossed her lips, "Haven't needed to. But, that still hasn't stopped me from travelling ... as a general 'consultant' in a lot of areas." And she seemed completely earnest about that. For some reason, though, she neglected any mention about the partying and grav cycle racing for the time being. Instead, she inclined her head in deference towards Darrel, "Or from being on the look out for interesting prospects ..."
